I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad conducted ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme on the 26th of May, 2023. The temperatures are rising, but Parivartan continues on its usual course

The volunteers for the day were Ziya, Amit. Nishu Shivani, Shruti, Aryan and Nandan.

Not surprisingly, the day started witha session on how to deal with the heat. Shivani, Nishu and Shruti explained the precautions the young ones need to take in the hot summer months such as keeping themselves hydrated at all times, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight and taking a lot of seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Next came the storytelling session where Amit related the modern fable of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The idea was that hard work and persistence could make any dream come true. One of India’s most successful captains was the best inspiration who could provide life lessons for the kids.

The activity for the day involved the students being asked to make paper boats. Ziya and Shivani guided them through the process in a step by step manner. After making the boat the kids were asked to write their name on it before giving it to their best friend.

Then it was time for the game session. The tiny tots were asked to dance to music in groups. When the music was stopped those who were still in motion were disqualified. The process was repeated until only a winner and a runner up were left. The winner received an insulated bottle as a prize, while the runner up was rewarded with a big pack of Real juice.

This brought us to the close of the day’s session. Bottles of Frooti and biscuits were distributed among the children before they moved homewards. Dr Indraneel Mandal planned the activities along with the volunteers and motivated them on site.
