Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

It was a very inspiring tale where the basic idea was to teach the children the fact that it is not necessary that the situation will always be in one’s favour. In such circumstances it is more important to keep faith in oneself, one’s near and dear ones and in God above. Things will ultimately come around, but one needs to be patient, no matter how difficult the situation.
The second part of the day’s proceedings consisted of a game of tambola or housie. Aryan took the lead, assisted by Abhishek and Anuj, as the kids were instructed to strike out the relevant numbers as they were announced. As has been the trend at Parivartan, the games are not simply games; the idea here was to encourage memory retention and quick response to stimuli in a competitive environment. The ultimate winners were presented with Sketch Pen Sets.
With the day’s programme drawing to a close, and with everybody exhausted from the exertions, Britannia Good Day biscuits and Melody Coffee-Bite toffees were distributed among the learners, before they headed homewards. Prof. Lokesh Upreti planned and presided over the day’s session, while also guiding the volunteers in the performance of the various tasks.
