Anubhav 2020 - Summer Internship Project Competition

I.T.S - Mohan Nagar, Department of Management organised 7th Online Summer Internship Project Competition “Anubhav - 2020”

for PG Management students on 26th September 2020 with an objective to provide a platform to the budding managers to share their first hand experiences, learning and ideas gained during their almost two months association with corporate in recent past during their Summer internship.

Event was a big hit as more than 60 participants from various management Institutions from all over the India.

Dr. Ashish Ambasta, Founder & CEO – Happy + Consulting, Director – Kincentric was the Chief Guest of the event and Mr. Amit Pandey, COO – Exicom TeleSystems Ltd. graced the event as Guest of honour.

The event commenced with the welcome address of Director (Management), Dr. Vidya Sekhri. Dr. Puneet Kumar presented the overview of the programme and highlighted different dimensions of the SIP. 

In his inaugural address, Mr. Ambasta said attention should be on pursuing life's mission of Reducing Suffering & Increase Happiness of those you touch' to the next level. In workplace context, it’s about ensuring people deliver world class performance and feel happy about themselves.

Mr. Amit Pandey in his inaugural address said that Summer Internship is a critical step in the process of enhancing students’ credentials and boosting up the competitiveness. Employers expect to see good performers listed on the resumes of potential employees.

SIP competition witnessed presentation in different tracks, each track was judged by a panel of subject matter experts.

Students from institutes like; SJPI(NICM), XIME, Bangalore, National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM)  Pune, Bennett University, Kiet group of institutions, JSS Academy of Technical Education,Noida, Xavier institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, KIET group of institutions, IES Management College and Research Centre, N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research Globsyn Business School, KIET Group Of Institutions, and K.R Mangalam University took active participation in the competition.

Participants shared their presentations based on their experiences and learning during summer internship. All the presentations were evaluated on parameters like Research methodology, analysis and findings, suggestions, logical flow and control over presentation etc.

Vaishali Menon from ITS won the first prize in HR, Sharon Carl from IES Management College and Research Centre, Mumbai in Operations Management, Srijan Eppalapally form National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), Pune in Finance and Rohit Kumar - Globsyn Business School, Kolkata in Marketing.

After the daylong presentations at four different venues, cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners in various categories.

Department of IT, Institute of Technology & Science, Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad organized a online guest talk on “Software Testing- Scope in Industry” for MCA V Semester students on 19th September, 2020.

Mr. Devendra Yadav, Product Test Manager- Quality Assurance from GlobalLogic India, Noida invited as a resource person for the session.

During the session Mr. Yadav shared his Journey & experience with the participants, He explained the importance of testing before the product released. He shared the skills set (Technical & Non-Technical), Testing Tool required for testing. Students are also get information of  the current market Trends & about few certification exams for selecting testing as a career path.

The session was very interactive & full of learning. At the end of session queries of students were also answered. Students of MCA V semester & faculty members of Department of IT attended the session. The session was conducted on Zoom platform.

The objective of the conference was to bring academicians, practitioners, researchers, technocrats and industry experts to review the ongoing process of research and development in the field of communication technology.The Conference was attended by over 700+ Participants from 26 States of the Country and 8 Countries in different sessions which consisted of 7 events such as Inaugural Session, Keynote Addresses, Technical Sessions, Paper presentation and Valedictory Session.

The 2 days event was commenced with the inaugural ceremony. The event was inaugurated by eminent guestsProf. K.K. Aggarwal, Chairman – National Board of Accreditation(NBA), Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, Vice ChancellorDr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, Prof. Vinita Sahay, Director - IIM Bodhgaya. They inspired the participants with their influential presence and shared the knowledge of eminence with gathering.

In beginning of session, Dr Sunil Kr Pandey briefed about an event and welcomed the guests.

On this occasion Shri Surinder Sood, Director (PR), I.T.S – the Education Group welcomed the dignitaries and addressed to participants with his motivational words. Towards the end of Inaugural Session Conference e-Proceedings was also released by the Distinguished Guest Speakers, Shri S. Sood, Director(PR), I.T.S- The Education Group, Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey, Professor & Director (IT & UG), Prof. Nancy Sharma, Vice Principal (UG) and the faculty Members were also present.

On Day-1,  After Inauguration of the Conference, Technical session was graced by the presence of Industry Experts Mr. Feroz Khan, Head Digital Advisory, Mr. Prasanna Lohar, Chief Information Officers, DCB Bank, Mr. Venkata Satish Gutulla, Director(Security), Rediff, Mr. Ankit Jhamb, KPMG. In this session, experts  shared their perspectives on different verticals including Banking. Learning & Development, Information Security and Customer Focused applications and way ahead. The speakers shared their ideas and views on the topic.

Dr Sunil Kr Pandey, Director(IT) delivered vote of thanks to distinguished guests of the session.

In Post Lunch Session 22 Authors presented their Papers in different Parallel Sessions. The Conference was attended by over 400 Participants form 26 States of the Country and 8 Countries in different sessions of the Day-1.

The day-2 of the conference started with the keynote addresses by eminent speakers of session Prof. S. Srinivas Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Technological University, Anantapur, Prof. A.K. Nayak, Immediate Past President(IPP)& Chairman Academics & Awards Committee, CSI, Shri Kiran Deshpande, Co-founder - Mojo Networks &Ex. CEO - Tech Mahindra, Dr. BurzinBharucha, Advisor - E & Y were invited to address the gathering.The speakers shared their views and topic.   Speakers has also mentioned that such conferences are necessary for levitating the level of enthusiasm and proliferating the zeal of research among academia and students.

The event was followed by Technical Session on Day-2 and Industry Experts shared their perspectives on different verticals including Banking. Learning & Development, Information Security and Customer Focused applications and way ahead. In this Session following Experts shared their perspectivesMr. S. Sridhar, Vice President - Tata Communications, Mr. Bharat Panchal,Chief Risk Officer, India, Middle East & Africa, FIS, Global, Dr. Sushila Madan, Lady Sriram College, Delhi.

In Post Lunch 24 Authors presented their Papers in different Parallel Sessions.

The whole 2 day conference was successfully concluded with valedictory and Bast Paper Award Ceremony.Dr Sunil Kr Pandey, Director(IT& UG)congratulated to Best Paper Award Winners and highly appreciated all the participants. Dr Pandey has also congratulated toMCA Students Mr Rahul Kr Banti and Mr Karan Pandey who have significantly contributed and prepared web application for this conference.

The two day Conference had involvement of around 750+ delegates, encompassing of National and International pursuits, academia, persons from reputed industries and students and it concluded with  remarkable memorable and knowledgeable event.

MARKETING CLUB- MERCATO organised “RUN TRACK MIND” for MBA students.

I.T.S - Mohan Nagar, Department of Management conducted MARKETING CLUB- MERCATO activity “RUN TRACK MIND” on 26 JULY 2020 for MBA Batch 2019-21

The Main objective behind this activity was to make the students aware about the television media used by marketers to promote their product. 

  1. The activity had one round of multiple choice questions.
  2. The time duration of this activity was 5 minutes.
  3. Top 3 winners were decided on the basis of maximum correct answers they  have marked within this time limit.

This was the third club event for MBA 1st year . Students have also shown their willingness for such future activities which may further enhance their learning and enrich their experience.

It is my immense pleasure to inform you that I have delivered aSessionon “Wireless Sensor Networking in Internet of Things” on 22nd July 2020

in One Week Faculty Development Programme on “Emerging Research Trends in IT” from 20th –25th July,2020, organized by Department of Computer Science, IITM, Janakpuri, New Delhi.

The session had witnessed the participation of 87+ young faculty members and researchers from renowned colleges and universities. In this session, various communication technologies and its impact on different real-life applications were discussed. While discussing about proliferation of technologies, a detailed discussion on IoT devices in MANETs, Vehicular Ad hoc Networks & FANETs, Role of IoT in Smart City, Smart Water Management, Smart Agriculture and its empirical research issues was presented. In addition to this, Introduction ofVeins, NetSim, its Importance, types of Network Simulators, Requirements and simulation of IoT devices were also explained through demonstration using Network Simulation Tool.

Overall it was a great learning experience to interact, share views & thoughts.

PG STUDENTS ATTENDED "FICCI GLOBAL YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INDUSTRY CONNECT 2020".

PG students of Management Department are participating in the virtual FICCI GLOBAL YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INDUSTRY CONNECT 2020 . 

which is a series of webinars planned for 52 weeks, every Friday between 5 and 6 pm. Each week features a new leader, a new entrepreneur as speaker. These interactive webinars are being organized by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in collaboration with Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC-OIP), Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM B-FII) and National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI). 

Students and faculty members both from India and across the globe attend the events. Students of ITS too participate actively in these interactive webinar series by way of attentive listening and posing intelligent questions relevant to the topic. Overall the webinars are highly inspiring and offer new, interesting and enriched learning content.      

The first of this series was on 26 June’20 on the topic Co-operatives and Community-based Entrepreneurship where the Key note Address was delivered by Mr. Siva Devireddy, CEO – GoCoop. This webinar was largely aimed at giving strong impetus to Cooperative and Community based Entrepreneurship for youth.

The second of the series was on 3rd July’20 on the topic disruptive innovations- opportunities and challenges where the key note speaker was Dr. Nitin Saluja, Founder GFF Innov Pvt. Ltd. The session was intended to give a strong impetus to disruptive innovations in technology.

The third in the series was on 10th July’20 on the theme rising opportunities for entrepreneurs and disruptors during and post covid with Mr. Nirankar Saxena, Deputy Secretary General, FICCI as the main speaker.
The fourth in the series was on role of technology in the evolving global scenario with Ms. Anna Roy, Senior Advisor, NITI Ayog as the speaker on the 17th of July’20 who spoke at length on the artificial intelligence and information technology related skilling, reskilling and upskilling needs of youth of today given the changing dynamics of skill requirements with time

Cultural Club Organized “MEME MASTER QUIZ”

Department of Management at I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized a Cultural Club activity “MEME MASTER” for MBA students on 12th July, 2020.

The activity was conducted by coordinator of Cultural Club Prof. Jyotsana Vaid. The purpose of the activity was to regenerate the energy of students by providing some entertainment related activity in this pandemic situation.

There was one round in the online activity. In the first round, 42 students participated. In the first round google form was floated and the questions were“ MCQ based with two options”., where each participant tried to solve the given questions. The activity was executed at 5;30 PM and time limit for submitting the google form was of 10 minutes. All the participants performed their best to compete and win. It was really a tough competition among all.

One day online workshop on “Internet of Things and Sensor Programming”  for the BCA/B.Sc.(CS) students was organized by Institute of Technology &  Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabadon date 7-July-2020.

Prof.Abhay Kumar Ray and Prof. Puja Dharwere the key resource person of this workshop.Prof .Abhay Kumar Ray taken session with practical demonstration based on Introduction to IoT and Sensor programming for using online simulator usingArduino Uno (using C and C++).Prof.PujaDhartaken a session based on Introduction of IoT and its supporting communication protocols.The workshop was coordinated by Prof. SaurabhSaxena. I am sure that this session will defiantly help the students for their knowledge enhancement and skill up-gradation.

Objective of the workshop :  

This workshop must help the students to understand and take better use of theIoT Basics,Arduino Uno, Simulators based on sensors and microcontrollers , components of Arduino Uno, Application of different sensors ,Integration of sensors to the Ardunio chip, Program writing  ,development and implementation of application using Arduino Chip .

After this workshop students can develop applicationsbased on online simulator using Arduino Uno and sensors.

Pre-requisite: Knowledge of C, C++.

Content of the workshop:

Fundamentals of Internet of Things, Introduction of different IoT supporting hardware including Microcontrollers chips and Micro Processor chip, Different kinds of sensors like light sensors , Ultrasonic Sensors etc.

Introduction to Arduino UNO chip,  Programming in C/C++ , Tinkercad simulator for sensor programming.

Programming in  C++ for LED , Ultrasonic Sensor, Push Buttons,Light sensors , Temperature and humidity sensors etc

Demonstration and Hands on based on Ardunio IDE and application of Adrunio chip and sensors based sketch

Total 60 participants were participated in this workshop. participants showed their interest to learn this technology and I am sure that participants of this workshop can develop apps by using Arduino IDE, tinkercad simulator  and supporting sensors.

E- International faculty development Program on “‘Advanced Research Methods: Enabling Quality Research Publications’.

In its endeavour to assist the academic fraternity in achieving excellence in quality publications, Management Department I.T.S Ghaziabad organised a five-day International Faculty Development Program on the focal theme of “Advanced Research Methods Enabling Quality Research publications”. The virtual platform of E-IFDP hosted International speakers of high repute and was attended by more than 200 faculty members and research scholars from 24 states of India and from 18 other countries like U.S.A, Africa, Bahrain, Kuwait, Philippines, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Nigeria and Oman and Turkey.

Day1

The inaugural session of the E-IFDP was initiated by the welcome address of Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director Management Department at I.T.S Ghaziabad. Dr. Sekhri emphasised the importance of quality publications for the academic fraternity. She also mentioned that how in this pandemic situation the technology has actually armed us with numerous opportunities which can always be utilised for better performances.  The digital platform of E-IFDP was graced by the presence of Shri. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman I.T.S- The Education Group. Shri Arpit Chadha gave the message of technology adoption with a purpose. In his message Shri. Arpit Chadha touched upon various aspects of how this COVID situation can be turned into opportunity for all. Dr. Anusha Agarwal, E-IFDP Coordinator presented the overview of the five-day FDP.

Prof. (Dr.) Edward R Lawrence- College of Business, Florida International University, Miami, USA delivered the inaugural address. Prof. Lawrence highlighted the importance of formulating a research problem before embarking upon writing a research article.

Prof. (Dr.) David Petrie- Adjunct Business professor with Concordia Universities, Portland and Chicago, delivered the first session of the Day where he highlighted the importance of Industry- academia collaboration for research.

Attaining proficiency in Literature Review is one of the keys to write a quality research paper.  Prof. (Dr.) Lloyd Scott- Head Knowledge in Sustainable Construction Practice Research Group at Technological University Dublin, Ireland gave some useful and pertinent information on “Literature Review – How to do it right”

Day 2

Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep KrishnamurthyDean at University of Washington (Bothell) School of Business Kirkland, Washington, USAdelivered a highly interactive session on the topic Truth Claims and Causality in Academic Research. He very well explained to the participants about cause, effect, moderating and mediating effects in research.

Prof. (Dr.) Dileep Kumar M., Professor Research, Strategy, Entrepreneurship and OB, Africa Business School, Mohamed VI Polytechnic University, Africa gave highly useful information on “Instrumentation in Research: Adaption, Adoption and Development” He discussed all three methods of Instrumentation in detail by taking examples from high quality research papers.

Day 3

Prof. V. Shekhar Accredited Management Teacher by AIMA, India was the keynote speaker. Prof. Shekhar has been an alumni of BITS Pilani and IIT Kolkata. He has over two decades of rich academic and corporate experience.

Prof. V. Shekhar painstakingly took all efforts to explain all the technicalities associated with SPSS.  Prof. Shekhar took numerous examples and shared some worksheets with the participants so that the participants can have hands on learning with the tool.

Day 4

Prof. (Dr.) Roy SembelProfessor Distinguished Chair at IPMI International Business School, Indonesiadiscussed the various ways by which academic research in management can be more useful and relevant. Dr. Roy augmented the discussion of research just becoming a ‘paper production function’ and not being able to fruitfully contribute to the business needs. Therefore, he urged to the young researchers and faculty colleagues to learn to step out of their comfort zone and engage with the real world.

Day 5

Session 1:

Dr. Ivan Zupic - Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths University of London, UK took an interesting session on Bibliometric analytics. For any researcher the task of writing a research article / paper cannot be completed until due attention is given to referencing and Bibliometric.  Dr.Zupic introduced various software for the same which can be used by the researchers in their work. Apart from sharing tips and techniques for Bibliometric analysis Dr.Zupic also discussed the nuances of citations which have become a very important parameter for quality publication.

Session 2

The second session on day 5 was taken by Dr.Souha Akiki Svahn- Founder Paris Graduate School, France on a very contemporary issue of “Research in ethics”. As it is widely known that with the growing number of publications in the academics, the issue of ethics has gained utmost importance. Dr.Souha highlighted the moral conduct which the authors should undertake. She advised that the authors should stay away from falsification and fabrication of the data and maintain high level of ethical standards.

The valedictory session of 5-day E-IFDP had the benign presence of Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman I.T.S- The Education Group. Shri Arpit Chadha applauded the success of the 5-day E-IFDP. Director Management Department Dr. Vidya Sekhri proposed the vote of thanks. Virtual Plaques were presented to all the speakers at the end of their respective sessions. Participant delegates appreciated the overall coordination and the smooth conduct of the entire program.

 The entire program was conceptualised and executed by Dr. Anusha Agarwal, Dr.Charu Chaudhry and Prof Parul Gupta.

Mr. Ram Jalan, presented an interactive session and discussed the need of managing Data and make informed decisions by using this huge data.

Mr. Prabhat Kumar, presented the practical insights on how technology and Health care industry is integrating at fast pace to create lot of opportunities and advised students to take up virtual projects to enhance their employability skills.

Ms. Aparajita Prasad, delivered a very motivating and inspiring session with the special emphasis on the changing business models and the need of adopting technology and getting digital in order to survive in this competitive world.

Workshop on “Stock Market Using Money Control Application" for MBA students conducted

Management department of I.T.S Ghaziabad has organized Workshop on “Stock Market Using Money Control Application" on 19th June 2020.

This workshop was organised with the aim for providing insight of stock market to MBA first year students. Currently students are going through their summer internship with companies dealing in capital market, so it is required to have basic knowledge of stock markets and commodities. The workshop was taken by Dr. Nitin Saxena, Assistant Professor, Finance. In this workshop basic analysis of charts, impact of buyers and sellers, impact of low and high prices during the day and during the year, activities of FII's and DII's were taught. Students were also asked to prepare a virtual portfolio in Money Control app using the current news and impact of covid-19 on stock market.

In the backdrop of menacing pandemic outbreak, Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar believes in the principle that every crisis is the blessing in disguise and opens up many doors for learning

and doing better ever than before. In this series of endeavors Department of Management, I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized webinar on 13th June, 2020 at 11.00 AM on the theme “Grabbing Brass Ring: How to Survive and Thrive in the Post Covid New Normal”. This Webinar was addressed by eminent policy maker, scholar, author and philanthropist Dr. Kalpana Gopalan IAS, Ph.D, IIMB, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka.

At the outset, Director (Management), Dr Vidya Sekhri welcomed all to the enlightening learning exercise. She referred to these difficult times as an opportunity not only for the education sector, but also for the other parts of the economy to rise to the occasion. She succinctly encapsulated the situation as the abnormal becoming the new normal.

 In exclusive deliberation of one and half hour, Dr. Gopalan pointed out radical life challenges and reciprocal changes that are rapidly taking place in professional life, conventional education system, organizational functioning, work force management and human behavior. She cited many situations that propelled to bring changes in human life and thought process since the first world war period to economic meltdown in 2008 and highlighted major achievements and value additions that has significant contribution in elevating our socio economic condition at both local and global level.

In this context, she revealed new strategies of inter and intra organizational functioning, VUCA model, freelancing, cross sectoral  collaboration in business and education sector, collective and personal social responsibility as a measure to capacity building and human transformation to deal with  ongoing crises and to ensure sustainable development in business and society.

The session was highly inspirational, informative, thought provocative and interactive. Dr. Gopalan judiciously answered all queries raised by faculty and students, She enlightened young minds to join hands and grab brass ring with enthusiasm, optimism and vitality. More than 200 students, faculty members from different institutions participated in this webinar and indeed it was a great success.

Department of Management organized e-Summit

I.T.S - Mohan Nagar, Management Department organized an e-Summit on the focal theme “Progressing in Covid-19 World, The New Normal” on 7th June, 2020 (Sunday).

e- Summit program had received an overwhelming response with registrations of 700+ participants which includes 394 Faculty members from 345 institutes and participants from the different foreign countries as well. The e-Summit had the enlightening and insightful two sessions. All the renowned Resource Persons were IIM Alumni, and presented deep insights of Strategies adopted by the organizations to overcome the challenges of Covid-19 and measures to adopt this New Normal in our life.
