Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad organized activity in ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

The day took off with a session on fractions. Nagesh and Sudhanshu discussed the concept along with the various types of fractions – like and unlike, proper and improper, etc. Prof. Upreti came in to explain why fractions have a practical relevance; he told the children why the sense of proportion is significant to the basic idea of fractions, which made it much clearer for the learners. The kids were also taught about addition of like fractions.

Astha then held forth on the important issue of human rights. She told the children about Right to Equality, Right to Freedom of Expression, Right to Constitutional Remedies, Right to Culture and Education, etc. The learners were taught how an awareness of these rights can lead to a better quality of life as a citizen of the country.

Since the previous Sunday, an interesting new element has been started in the form of Chhoti Chhoti Baatein – short takeaways for the day or jaate jaate aaj ka gyan. While in the previous week it had been about good habits for the summer days, this week it was a Sanskrit shloka which stressed on the significance of respect to elders like parents, teachers and older relatives, and how it helps to build character. Once again, Sudhanshu provided the finishing touch of the day.

The customary quiz was held to get an idea about the understanding of the day’s lessons. This was followed by the distribution of ’Parle Orange Bite’toffees and ‘Priya Butter Bite’ biscuits among the children.
