Guest lecture on “Identity Politics and Rise of China and its impact on Global Business” for (MBA 2021 – 23) batch

Department of Management organized a guest lecture on “Identity Politics and Rise of China and its impact on Global Business” for the students of (MBA 2021 – 23) batch on May 17, 2023.

 

The objective of the lecture was to supplement the learning of students about geopolitics and its impact on international trade. The speaker for the lecture was Dr. Faisal Ahmed, Professor of International Business & Geopolitics at FORE School of Management, New Delhi. His research and consulting interests include the Indo-Pacific region, China’s trade and geopolitics, and free trade agreements.

Dr. Faisal began by introducing the term “Geopolitics”. He explained that geopolitics is when political leaders, countries, organizations, and corporations assess how their actions would affect other political leaders, countries, organizations, and corporations. Further, he introduced the term “Identity Politics” to the participants, which he described as a political approach wherein people of a particular race, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social background, social class, or other identifying factors develop political agendas that are based upon these identities. Dr. Ahmad then discussed the emergence of CHINA as a super economy. He argued that it was only done with the support of other super powers including the USA that supported the rise of China during the 1970’s. He deliberated upon the various programs and agendas being supported by CHINA in the current international trade for its own development and how they are being strongly opposed by India with the objective of protecting our sovereignty. Dr. Ahmad also highlighted various instances in history where different countries, including India, have used protectionist measures in International Trade and its impacts on the economies. Lastly, he highlighted the significance of trade agreements and reason for which nations come into these agreements.

The session was highly fruitful and informative for the students. The students learnt about the impact of world politics on international trade. They felt that the resource person was competent and had exhaustive knowledge about the subject matter. He handled queries and doubts very well and the overall interaction was very useful. The session culminated by presenting a vote of thanks and plaque to Dr. Faisal Ahmad.

Incubation Centre at IIML Noida Campus visited by MBA students

Seventeen students of MBA First Year from the Institute of Technology & Science, Mohan Nagar went on an exposure visit to the Incubation Centre at the IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre, Noida Campus on the 16th May, 2023. Dr Sanjeev Tandon and Dr Indraneel Mandal accompanied the students on the trip.

The group was welcomed Dr Pooja Pandey, HR faculty and Head of the Enterprise HER initiative at IIML. She started the session with the introductory video explaining how IIML-EIC works, including how it helps the entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas. She went on to explain the various programmes like

Start up Stage Program which includes thePre-Incubation Programme, the Incubation Programme, and the Acceleration program

Market Access Support includingtheCorporate Engagement Programme, the CVC Training Programme and the Global Networking Programme.

Academic Engagement such as setting up incubator for others and other academic associations

Investor Engagement like investopreneur initiatives, venture capital tie ups, etc. Moving forward with the session Mr. Arunodaya Bajpai, COO, IIML-EIC, gave a briefing about the holistic approach of IIML-EICin developing the business ideas. He also guided the participants through the organisational development at startups.  After the interaction it was time to visit the incubation centre. Students were made aware about the latest technology including the use of 3D printers, artificial intelligence and a supercomputer, all of which are available for use by startups at the centre.

It was a very useful session which thoroughly enthused the students. It is hoped that the interaction will lead to positive benefits  including development of individual ideas by the youngsters.

Guest lecture on Exploring Options for Effective Business Decisions

I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, Department of Management organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Exploring Options for Effective Business Decisions” on 15thMay 2023 for MBA-II Sem students. Guest lecture coordinator Dr. Gurpreet Kaur welcomed the speaker, Mr. Vineet Sinha.

Mr. Vineet Sinha currently working as a senior product manager at Tata Communications LTD. He has 19 years of experience in IT & Telecom Industry. He holds certifications in Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), Lead Implementer (ISO 22301:2019), Certified Safe5 Product Owner/Product Manager, and APMP Foundation Level from Duke Corporate Education.

The session was concentrated mostly on making decisions. He gave a succinct summary of the decision-making process and the need for excellent decisions. He used a specific instance to demonstrate how decision-making affects the corporation.

At the end of the session, a Q/A round was held in which the speaker cleared all the queries of the students regarding effective business decisions. It was an engrossing lecture. The event concluded with the presentation of virtual plaques as a token of gratitude and remembrance by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur to the guest speaker Mr. Vineet Sinha.

WYSIWYG 2023 – Annual Management Fest

I. T. S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized the 16th edition of the Annual Management Fest – WYSIWYG on  May 12, 2023.

 

The day long cultural extravaganza attracted more than 400 participants from 50 Institutes across Delhi-NCR.The event commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting and the welcome address of Dr. V. N. Bajpai, Director, Institute of Technology & Science. He highlighted the achievements of the previous editions of WYSIWYG and welcomed all the participants and the dignitaries to celebrate the vibrant diversity of our campus community and showcase the rich tapestry of cultures that make us unique.

Shri Surinder Sood, Director (PR) , I.T.S The Education Group, in his address encouraged all the participants and reminded of the power of youth community and the importance of coming together to celebrate our accomplishments in the form of fests like WYSIWYG.

Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Convener of the event presented the overview of the program. The inaugural ceremony was embellished with beautiful performances by the students. The Group dance performance on Yoga theme by the students of Parivartan- The CSR Club of I.T.S mesmerized the audience.

Alumni talk on “Towards a Professional Career Ahead: Opportunities and Challenges” for MBA students

Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad has organized an alumni talk on “Towards a Professional Career Ahead: Opportunities and Challenges” on 10th May, 2023 for the students of MBA (2022-24) batch.

The speaker for the session was Ms. Sneh Singh, Deputy Manager, Pearson and Alumna of MBA (2011-13) batch.  The motive behind the session was to make students aware of the functioning of Publication industry and discuss the possible opportunities available in this industry. The session started with the welcome address by Dr. Nitin Saxena, Coordinator of MBA Alumni Cell.

Ms. Sneh started her talk with the introduction of the publishing industry, its size, competitor analysis and opportunities available. She discussed her job profile and role in the company.  She highlighted effective communication written and verbal, learning from industry practices and passion as key skills to sustain and grow in publishing industry. She demonstrated different platforms for the students to enroll themselves to continuously upgrade skills. She also shared some of the beautiful memories and extended her gratitude to I.T.S for the support provided during her two years program.

During the session Ms. Sneh shared many examples from her own organization with respect to challenges involved and their ways to address them. The session was highly interactive as students were curious to ask questions.

MBA students attended Kavi Sammelan at Aajtak Studios

On 5th May, 2023, students from the MBA 1st Year (2022-24) batch of I.T.S Mohan Nagar visited the India Today Mediaplex, accompanied by Dr Sanjeev Tandon and Dr Indraneel Mandal.

The purpose of the trip was to observe the production of a live television show and gain practical experience in this matter.

The first show was a Kavi Sammelan under the Good News Today banner which is a programme that brings together poets and their work to entertain and inspire the audience. It was headed by Navjot Randhawa with four well known poets as guests.

The topic of the day were the forthcoming elections around the country seen from a sarcastic point of view. The next two sessions were for Aaj Tak's famous Halla Bol programme, with one being on live TV. Halla Bol is a current affair show that discusses pressing issues affecting India. Both of the shows were headed by one of the leading anchors of the day Ms. Anjana Om Kashyap with the debate focussing on issues relating to the upcoming Karnataka elections.

After the show, the students had the opportunity to interact with the host and the invited guests. The trip turned out to be great learning experience for the students. Besides highlighting some of the burning topics of the day, it also provided them with practical exposure and insight into the behind-the-scenes work that goes into producing a live television show.

International Conference- 2023 on “ Innovations, Agility and Sustainability in Global Business Environment”.

I.T.S Ghaziabad organized International Conference- 2023 on the theme of “ Innovations, Agility and Sustainability in Global Business Environment” on 28th and 29th April 2023.

The conference had an enlightening inaugural session followed by four technical session and two online Plenary session accompanied by global eminent speakers from France, Philippines, USA, Peru & UK. It was organized on two subsequent days, i.e. on 28- 29 April, 2023.

The event commenced with the virtual invocation of Goddess Saraswati. Prof. (Dr.) V.N. Bajpai, Director- I.T.S Ghaziabad warmly welcomed all the eminent speakers and shared his valuable insights on the focal theme with the audience. An overview of the conference and introduction of the theme was given by Conference Convener, Dr. Manoj Kumar Jha.

The inaugural session was graced by honorable Chief Guest Lt Gen A. K. Singh,  PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd),Former Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Additional Administration of Puducherry) Sainik Farms, Delhi. He deliberated on the unique aspects of leadership in a VUCA world. HE alluded that corporartes could benefit from employing a model that focuses on life and death decisions without limiting itself to simple profit and loss evaluations.

Guest of Honor Prof. S. K. Jain, Former Vice Chancellor, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi , University , Jammu, traced the development of innovation ni various fields, pointing out how the decreasing life cycles are having major implications for companies as well as consumers and &  Dr. Ravi Shankar, Professor, IIT Delhi invoked the concept of Triple Bottom Line stressing on the need to achieve the parallel objectives of economic growth, social benefit and environmental protection.

During the Panel Session-1, participants got enriched on the theme “Sustainability of Business in Volatile global Business Environment” by professors from IIM-A, IIM-I, IIM-K,IIM-Kashipur & others . The conference witnessed international Panel Session-2 on theme “Innovations , Agility and Sustainability in Global Business Environment” with academic luminaries from the USA, England, Vietnam, Romania and Peru.

GENESIS 2023 -The Business Plan Competition

The third edition of Genesis 2023, the Business Plan Competition at I.T.S Mohan Nagar was held in the afternoon of 21st April 2023.

 

The inaugural session was at the Dronacharya Auditorium, with the invited guests being Mr Arunadaya Bajpai, COO, IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre, and  Mr Praveen Kapoor, Co-Founder and CEO of BeBoss Technology LLP, Global Startup Ecosystem.

The programme started with the ceremonial lamp lighting by all dignitaries present on stage. Dr V.N. Bajpai, Director, I.T.S Mohan Nagar and President, IIC ITS welcomed all the participants. Dr Indraneel Mandal, Coordinator (Startups) at the IIC and Convener of Genesis 2023, outlined the modus operandi of the event. Mr Bajpai and Mr Kapoor spoke from their experience. Dr Timira Shukla, Director, I.T.S School of Management stressed on product development, prototype testing and how a business plan should be developed.

The main competition then proceeded in two tracks. Each venue included participants from both within and outside I.T.S, with several interesting ideas being put forward and discussed threadbare.

The contest had four teams on the winners’ list, with two teams sharing the second prize. The first prize went to Lakshay. Megha and Shivalika from the UG section of I.T.S. Second prize was claimed by a team of IIMT University consisting of Adarsh, Rajat and Priyanka, with Vivek and Ram, PGDM students from I.T.S, being the other team. The third prize was awarded to Abhishek, Adiba, Salil and Tanishka from the I.T.S UG section.

It was a useful learning experience for on and all with the promise of more to come in the future.

Department of IT, I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized a faculty visit to Yotta Data center, Greater Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar. Director (IT), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey along with all the faculty members of Department of IT visited the datacenter.

Yotta Datacenter is an Indian company that specializes in providing data center and cloud services. Their data center in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, is one of the largest and most advanced data center facilities in India.

Yotta Datacenter in Greater Noida spans over 8.2 million square feet, making it one of the largest data center parks in the world. It has a scalable capacity of up to 150,000 racks, allowing for substantial data storage and processing capabilities.

Mr. Nitin from YottaDatacenter very nicely explained that the data center is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to ensure reliable and efficient operations. It features advanced security systems, redundant power and cooling mechanisms, high-speed connectivity, and 24x7 monitoring and support.While visit to different floors at Yotta Datacenter, he said that the datacenter focuses on sustainability and has implemented various eco-friendly initiatives. The facility utilizes renewable energy sources, such as solar power, to minimize its carbon footprint. It also incorporates energy-efficient technologies and practices to optimize power usage effectiveness (PUE).

Students visit to Aaj Tak Studio for attending panel discussion on ‘Child Education Plan’

The students of MBA and PGDM Courses of Institute of Technology and Science and I.T.S School of Management, Ghaziabad along with Dr. Neeraj Sanghi and Dr. Sanjeev Tandon attended a panel discussion on ‘Child Education Plan’ at Aaj Tak news channel studio situated at NOIDA Film City on 04th April, 2023. The program started with the welcome address by anchor of the program Mr. Sayeed Ansari.

The dignitaries of the program were;

·            Ms. P.V. Sindhu, Brand ambassador of PNB MetLife;

·            Mr. Subhash Chandra Garg, Former Finance Secretary;

·            Mr. Sameer Bansal, Chief Distribution Officer PNB MetLife;

·            Ms. Sanchita Mukherji and Ms. Neha Nagar, Finance Content Creator

The panel discussion focused on financial planning of child education for their dreams. White paper on the theme of PNB MetLife to all citizens of India by Happy and Chhoti Sindhu the mascots of PNB MetLife was released.

Ms. P.V. Sindhu shared her childhood memories and discussed the role of finance planning. Mr. Subhash Chandra Garg shared his views relating to government initiatives related to child education schemes. Mr. Sameer Bansal highlighted the importance of financial security for the children in the scenario of rising education cost.  Ms. Sanchita Mukherji talked about the need of financial planning for children at the earliest. Ms. Neha Nagar gave several examples of financial goals and impact of inflation on financial planning. At the end of the show audience asked few questions to the dignitaries.

In the session, Concept of Blockchain including the blocks, its core components, Block Creation, Contents of a block, Process of addition of blocks in blockchain, Hashing Algorithms Methods, Computing Merkle Roots, Application areas of blockchainetcwere discussed in details.

Student of computer application and faculty members of BCA department attended session. After the session all the queries of students were answered. Prof.ShaliniLamba, Head Computer Application Department shared that session was so much meaningful.

Management students attended Startup Convergence 2023

Management students of I.T.S School of Management & Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad along with Dr. Indraneel Mandal attended “Startup Convergence 2023” organized by Enterprise Incubation Center (EIC), IIM, Lucknow Noida Campus.

Mr Yamini Bhushan Pandey, MD, IIML EIC, delivered the welcome address. He also spoke about the support offered by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, Startup India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Amit Trivedi, Head Investments, EIC, talked about the partnership with NABARD, following which Shri S. K. Dora, CGM NABARD, held forth on the Joint Accelerator Programme.

On the anvil was also IIML’s partnership with Microsoft, on behalf of whom Mr Raghav Sehgal provided insights on the latest developments in the technology sector. He enlightened the audience about Microsoft Startup Founders’.

Also on the agenda was the announcement of the partnership between IIML EIC and State Bank of India. Mr Saket Dalmia, President, PHDCCI elaborated on his involvement with the government. The keynote address by Prof. Neerja Pandey, Dean, IIML, emphasised on the strategic partnerships Finally, Prof. Pooja Pandey, who leads the Enterprise HER initiative for women entrepreneurs at IIML EIC, apprised all concerned about the woman led enterprises who had qualified for support from the institution.

Subsequently guests were given a guided tour of the incubation centre on campus. All in all, it was a fruitful day for the participants.

Faculty member attended FICCI Global Young Leader Submit

Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav, Associate Professor, MBA Department represented Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad at a conference on the theme “Harnessing Youth Power for an Inclusive, Progressive & Sustainable Future” organized by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Tuesday21th March, 2023 from 10:00 - 06:00 pm, at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi.

The full day conference was inaugurated by Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of Sports, Youth affairs and Minister of information and broadcasting, Government of India. The conference was focused on harnessing the young entrepreneurs for sustainable future. Six plenary sessions were conducted spanned over various themes such as:

1.      Youth and innovation – staying ahead of the curve. The key note of the session was delivered by Shri Amitabh Kant,Sherpa-G20, GOI

2.      She Leads- bold vision and brave actions.

3.      Youth and sustainability-balancing development with sustainability.

4.      Amrit kaal ka budget- A joint session with Y20 engagement group of G20 submmit.

5.      Taking up the baton- youth leadership in governance and decision making.

6.      Art, culture and sports- bringing people together

The representatives of industry presented their views on the role of youth in the development of the country. Mr. Amitabh Kant while addressing the gathering states that Indian entrepreneurs should not think only for India rather they should think for the world. Another point which was discussed during the session was that majority of investment to the startups is coming from outside world. We should reduce our dependency on foreign funds.

It was a two days Seminar where academicians and research scholars participated from across the country. Seminar took place in various technical sessions. The representatives of industry presented their views on the role of digital modes of selling over offline modes. All of them were of the opinion that both online and offline modes of selling and promoting the products are important. They were also of the opinion that one of the other day businesses has to be in both the formats.

All the sessions were informative and offered learning about new modes and techniques of marketing.
