Management Faculty attended Dataquest- IBM event on “Impact of Digital Skilling On Getting Industry-Ready”

Dr. Nitin Saxena and Dr. Surendra Tiwari from the Department of Management have attended Dataquest- IBM event on “Impact of Digital Skilling On Getting Industry-Ready” on August 30, 2022 at Eros Hotel, New Delhi

 

Keynote Speakers in the event were Mr. SunilRajguru,Editor-Dataquest,PCQuest&CiOL and Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar - Chief Coordinating Officer, AICTE,MinistryofEducation, Govt. of India.

Both The speakers suggested various ways and strategies to bridge the gap between education and industry. They were emphasizing about the increased involvement of hands-on experience across platforms, middleware and cloud technologies.Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar said that great efforts should be taken to make these learning opportunities, such as reskilling and upskilling, accessible, available, and affordable to the workforce.

MonaBharadwaj,GlobalUniversityProgramsLeader,India, IBM emphasized that while the need for digital skills has been growing for years, the research shows that job changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic have accelerated the need for more training for both tech and non-tech workers on digital capabilities in India.

Deepak Gupta - Partner & Practice Leader (Custom &ExponentialTech); IBMMasterInventor&memberofIDT,LocationLeader(NCR-Noida) said that over the course of the pandemic, we have seen organizations of all sizes accelerate their digital transformation plans, driving an increased need for employers and their workers to advance skill training for cloud computing, cybersecurity, and machine learning.

The conference was inaugurated on Monday, 29th August 2022 by the eminent guests including Vice Chairman, ITS –The Education Group, Sh. Founder Chair/Co-Chair,GWS/ WPMC, Steering Board, Founder President VISHWANIKETAN, Professor at Department of Business Development and Technology, Aarhus University, Herning Campus, Denmark, Dr. Soren Tranberg Hansen, Consulate General of Denmark (Bangalore India), Dr. Sandeep Inamdaar, Vice Chairman, Vishwaniketan, Mumbai, Dr. D.S. Mantri, SIT, Pune, Executive Committee Member, IETE Pune Local Center, Director(IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey and Vice Principal-ITS ,UG Campus, Prof. Nancy Sharma.

This conference witnessed world class discussion on futuristic technologies in which globally renowned scientists & Researchers who are established names in Telecommunication and involved in Research in the area of 6G shared their perspective in these 02 Days. An excellent cultural program was prepared and presented by the students of UG Campus and MCA Course was well appreciated by everyone present.

On Day-1 (29th August 2022) while briefing about the event, Director (IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey said that “Global ICT Standardization Forum for India (GISFI) is an Indian standardization body active in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and related application areas, such as energy, telemedicine, wireless robotics, biotechnology. It is our privilege to sign a MoU with CGC, Aarhus University, Herning, Denmark. He also welcomed the guest and delegates from the globe. He also said that these two days are going to be a new learning for all and meeting the researchers who have come from different parts of the world”.

During his address, Vice Chairman, ITS –The Education Group, Sh. Arpit Chadha congratulated Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey and his team for organizing such a great conference. He said that “I.T.S, Ghaziabad is blessed to have the eminent researchers and industrialist from the globe who will be sharing their knowledge and experience with students and faculty members of different parts during these two days.”

While his Opening Message, Prof. Ramjee Prasad (Denmark), Founder President, CTIF Global Capsule, Founder Chair GISFI. Founder Chair/Co-Chair,GWS/ WPMC, Steering Board, Founder President VISHWANIKETAN, Professor at Department of Business Development and Technology, Aarhus University, Herning Campus, Denmark congratulated and appreciated Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey, Director(IT&UG) for his support and organizing 2-Days International Conference. He said that students and faculty members should think about the research and work towards the growth of nation.

Dr. Soren Tranberg Hansen, Consulate General of Denmark (Bangalore India) while addressing the gathering said that this is his first visit to India and he very much impressed with the hospitality of I.T.S, Ghaziabad.

Dr. Sandeep Inamdaar, Vice Chairman, Vishwaniketan, Mumbai talked about the project-based learning. He said that faculties should emphasis on the project-based learning so that students will have more technical knowledge in their domains. He also shared various videos where many students had worked on live projects under his guidance.

On Day-1 of the Conference, during the inaugural Session, a MoU was also signed between I.T.S, Ghaziabad and STIF Global Capsule (CGC), Aarhus University, Herning, Denmark. This MoU which is a joint research and collaborative academic activities was signed by Vice Chairman, ITS –The Education Group, Sh. Arpit Chadha and Prof. Ramjee Prasad, CTIF Global Capsule (CGC), Aarhus University, Herning, Denmark.

At the end of inaugural session Dr. Dnyaneshwar Mantri, SIT, Pune, Executive Committee Member, IETE Pune Local Center delivered a vote of thanks.

After inaugural Session-1 was conducted in the UG Boardroom. This session was chaired Dr.Ambuj Kumar, CGC, Aarhus University, Herning Campus, Denmark. The speakers in this session were Dr. Dinesh Chand Sharma, Director – Standards & Public Policy (SESEI) who spoke on “6G: Green Technology Evolution: EU policy measures and contribution of ICT Standards”. Sh. Satya N Gupta, Chairman of Board, Bluetown India and BIMSTEC discussed about the “Use of Blockchain Technology for future communications for Train Control”. Sh. Kishor Kumar Thakur, CGM BSNL & Cofounder Cyber Vidyapeeth talked about the cyber security threats and its countermeasures. At the end of this session all the speakers were felicitated by Director (IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey. The session was coordinated by Prof. Puja Dhar.

Session-2 was scheduled after lunch break. This session was chaired by Sh. Kishor Kumar Thakur, CGM BSNL & Cofounder Cyber Vidyapeeth. In this session the speakers including Dr. Dinesh Chand Sharma, Director – Standards & Public Policy (SESEI) spoke about “Emotional Senses using AI and 6G”. Dr.Suvra S. Das, Professor, IIT Kharagpur talked about “Strategy towards 6G”. Vandana M. Rohokale, SIT, Narhe Pune discussed about “Pervasive AI and 6G Technology”. Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray, Assistant Professor talked about the Smart Home Technologies and Prof. K.P Singh, , Assistant Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad talked about the evolution of mobile phones and technology. At the end of this session all the speakers were felicitated by Director (IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey. The session was coordinated by Prof. Varun Arora.

On day-2 after lunch an excellent cultural program was prepared and presented by the students of UG Campus and MCA Course which was well appreciated by everyone present.

After spectacular cultural programme by the students, round table discussion was conducted in the Seminar Hall. This session was chaired by Sh. Krishna Sirohi, I2B / AlbenaMihovska, CGC , Aarhus University, Herning Campus, Denmark. In this Session the speakers, Dr.Navin Kumar, Professor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bangalore India and Dr.Ambuj Kumar, CGC , Aarhus University, Herning Campus, Denmark had discussed about the theme “6G and Environmental Variations”. At the end of this session all the speakers were felicitated by Director (IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey. The session was coordinated by Prof. Varun Arora, Assistant Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad.

On Day-2 of 2-days International Conference, Session-1 was on the theme “Indo-Danish Collaborations”. This session was chaired by Dr. Soren Tranberg Hansen, Consulate General of Denmark in India, Dy. Head of Mission (Science & Technology) Bangalore. There were three panelist in this session including Dr.Ambuj Kumar, CGC, Aarhus University, Herning Campus, Denmark, Dr. Vandana M. Rohokale, SIT, Narhe Pune and Prof. Swati Prasad, BIT Mesra, Ranchi. During the session Dr. Vandana shared her PhD journey at Aarhus University, Herning Campus, Denmark. Dr.Ambuj Kumar also presented his research work on 6G and Environmental Variations. At the end of this session all the speakers were felicitated by Director (IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey. The session was coordinated by Prof. Puja Dhar, Assistant Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad.

Session-2 was based on the theme “Innovation and research for 6G in India”. This session was chaired by Dr. Tilak Raj Dua, Executive Director, Augere Wireless Broad Band India Pvt Ltd. & Executive Vice President GISFI. The speakers in this session were Sh. Upkar Singh, Vice President, RMSI, Shri Shashank ShekharGaruyar, Chairman, Cybervidyapeeth Foundation, Prof. Puja Dhar, Assistant Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad and Prof. Varun Arora Assistant Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad. In the beginning of the session Dr. Tilak Raj Dua talked about the Indo-Danish Collaborations and the impact of 6G technology. Sh. Upkar Singh talked about the readiness of corporate world for 6G technologies. Shri Shashank Shekhar Garuyar discussed about the cyber security and how technology is impacting the social life of a human being. Prof. Puja Dhar talked about her research work as well as the role of 6G in Health Industry. Prof. Varun Arora also talked about his research work. At the end of this session all the speakers were felicitated by Director (IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey. The session was coordinated by Dr. Dnyaneshwar Mantri,SIT, Pune, Executive Committee Member, IETE Pune Local Center.

While concluding the conference, Director (IT&UG), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey delivered the vote of thanks and thanked all the eminent guests, speaker and delegates who were the part of this conference.

The conference was attended by over 700+ participants including delegates including Academicians, Researchers, Scientists, Policy makers, Research Scholars & students from various parts of the country including – Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, and various cities of UP and MP etc. and other countries including Denmark.

Faculty Development Programe on the topic “Analytics for decision making”

Understanding the importance of Analytics in today’s scenario, I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad has organised a Faculty Development Programe on the topic “Analytics for Business Decision” on 19th and 26thAugust 22. The resource person for the same was Dr. Ashish K Jha. In this FDP total of 30 faculty members have participated.

On the first day of FDP, Dr. V N Bajpai (Director) has inaugurated the event and he said that in today’s scenario business decisions are being taken on the basis of analytics. He also emphasise on the importance of analytics in the different area of management.

Dr. Ashish Jha has shared and shown how decisions related to various methods of pricing are being taken in the industry. He trained the participants on Price skimming, Linear pricing and other types of pricing.

On second day of FDP (26th August) the trainer has taken the session on the topic “Customer Life time Value”. He discussed, how to calculate the customer lifetime value in a company. During the session he has taken the case of Netflix to calculate the CLTV.

Overall the session was fruitful for the participants.

‘Parivartan’ Club – A CSR Initiative by I.T.S Ghaziabad celebrated “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” on the 15th August, 2022.

 

The volunteers for the day were students of PG Management including Anuj, Akash, Sourav, Sakshi, Mahima, Divyanshi, Priyanshi, Shobhit, Surendra, Abhijeet, Awnish, Anurag, Radha Krishna, Puneet, Animesh, Nargis, Ayushi, Poorvi, Simran, Akansha, Soumya Rahul, Kartik, Rupali.

Volunteers distributed hand-flags among the children. Children participated in the celebration enthusiastically. They recited poems and performed on various patriotic songs. Performers were awarded with Tricolor badges. Also our students made the children aware about the importance of the occasion and shared with them the struggle of the freedom fighters to bring this Independence.

Utthan Club celebrated – 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotasav

Utthan, a CSR initiative of I.T.S Ghaziabad, celebrated “75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotasav” with the government school students on August 10, 2022. 

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. A mesmerizing session was organized on the same theme in the campus.

Faculty coordinators, Prof. Nitin Saxena and Prof. Shilpi Rana along with student volunteers of Utthan club of PGDM (2021-23) Batch coordinated the session.

Poem recitation competition was organised for the students of class 1 to 5, in which 8 participants recited beautiful patriotic poems. For class 6 to 8, Speech competition was conducted, where 6 students participated with great enthusiasm. Best 3 performers from both the competitions were awarded with exciting gifts. A Voluntary dance performance was also given by the school girls on patriotic songs.  Dr. Timira Shukla, Director graced the session with her benign presence and motivated the students with her words of wisdom.

Students were seen with full of energy and enthusiasm holding tricolours in their hands and chanting “Vande Matram” on this occasion.  

At the end, all the students were given refreshments.

Online Workshop “Interactive Tools and Techniques for Energized and Engaged Classes”

Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor of Department of Management at I.T.S - Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad attended an online workshop on “Interactive Tools and Techniques for Energized and Engaged Classes” on 6th  August, 2022 conducted by NPTEL.

 

The purpose of the workshop was to enable learning through gamified interactive tools and techniques. The session was attended by corporate trainers and educationalists across the country.

The pre-lunch session was chaired by the Mr. Kartic Vaidyanathan, Founder of Let’s Play To Learn. He gave a demonstration on Mentimeter software, which can be used for making easy-to-build presentations, interactive polls, and quizzes. This made learning experience very engrossing and interactive.

The key speaker for post lunch session was Dr. Preeti Aghalayam, a Professor in the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras. She shared her experience and expertise of converting conceptual ideas from the classes to the form of games, including hyper casual mobile games, intricate board, and card games, and so on. She gave the overview of slido, wordwall, gimkit, etc.

The sessions were interactive and engrossing. The speakers gave a great exposure about gamification which will improve student learning experiences in various environments.

FDP on “Advanced Research Methods: A Qualitative and Quantitative Approach”

Dr. Nitin Saxena from Department of Management attended a 5-Day Faculty Development Program on “Advanced Research Methods: A Qualitative and Quantitative Approach” from 25th July to 29th July, 2022.

 

The FDP was organised by the MAIT Delhi in association with Shaheed Bhagat Singh College Delhi. The FDP focused on Systematic Literature Review and Meta Analysis. The resource persons for the FDP were Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Associate Professor, Pearl Academy and Dr. Pooja Goel, Associate Professor, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College who discussed how to identify a research topic and how a meta- analysis can be conducted. The sessions were highly informative and provided a great learning experience to participants.

AICTE Conclave on NEP Implementation

Management faculty members Prof. Yachna Malhotra, Dr. Indraneel Mandal, Prof. Charul Agarwal, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Prof. Mansi Singh, Dr. Neeraj Sanghi, Dr. Mayank Sharma, Dr. Vinay Kumar Srivastava, Prof. Smita Barik and Prof. Shikha Aggarwal form I.TS School of Management and Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad attended the AICTE conclave on the theme “Implementation of NEP 2020: Facilitating Engineering Education in Indian Languages” organized by AICTE at AICTE, Head Quarter, New Delhi.

The focus of the conclave was on the fact that for too long technical education in this country has been conducted in English and the time may have finally come for moving over to various Indian languages which can make it easier for the students to both understand and express themselves.

The dignitaries gracing the occasion included Shri Anil Sahasrabudhdhe, Chairman of the AICTE; Shri Chamukrishna Shashtri, Chairman of the High Powered Committee on the Promotion of Indian Languages, Ministry of Education, Government of India; Shri Santosh Kumar Taneja from the Sankalp Foundation Trust; Director of the Faculty Development Cell of the AICTE; and Shri Rajeev Mahajan, Member Secretary of the AICTE; Prof. M.P.Bhunia, Vice Chairman of the AICTE. Each of them offered their considered thoughts on different aspects of this mammoth project.

The conclave saw participation by several heads of institutions of colleges and universities from across the country, several of whom were felicitated for their contribution in popularising technical education in local languages. Over a thousand participants joined the conclave online from various parts of the nation. A few students were invited to share their experiences in learning in languages like Marathi, Hindi and Telugu.

It turned out to be an inspiring exchange of minds as all agreed on the significance of diversifying technical education in the vast repository of languages in a country like India.

Management faculty attended “Diversity and Inclusion Conclave” of FICCI

Dr V N Bajpai and Dr Satish Kumar of I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad attended 1st Diversity and Inclusion Conclave of FICCI on July 6-7, 2022 at Hotel, Lalit, New Delhi.

 

The conclave facilitated deliberations around the theme “India@75- Being Diverse, Inclusive and Better for all” by senior representatives, Industry leaders, policy influencers, professionals, CHROs, CSOs and various D&I experts from India and abroad. 

With 75 years of India’s independence, we cannot afford to exclude vulnerable sections of the society from the mainstream economy. We want to make every effort possible to ensure that all the diverse sections of the society- women, persons with disability, LGBTQ+ community and others are included in all aspects- be it education, digital, financial, employment, culture or society; leaving no one behind.  Through this conclave FICCI endeavours to ensure that Indian corporate have inclusive organizational policies in their companies with enough gender diversity, inclusion of people with disabilities as well as representation from the LGBTQI+ community.

Sweating, Humidity & the Enthusiasm, all were high together- Parivartan Club

I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad conducted ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme on the 6th July, 2022.

The volunteers for the day were Mr. Anuj Gupta, Mr. Akash Kumar, Mr. Sourav Kumar, Ms. Shubhi Kumari, Ms. Jyoti Yadav, Mr. Amit Kumar. Following learning activities for children were organized:

1.      Classroom Teaching-

a.      Vowels.

b.      Articles (a, an & the)

c.      Consonants

2.      Moral Education

Students taught the children a lesson of humanity, they told the children that being helpful for others is the only difference between Humans & Animals. Therefore we all should help others in terms of money, knowledge or whatever we have in excess.

Kids participated in all the activities and enjoyed a lot. Activity was ended with the distribution of Merry's Chocolate biscuits, Cakes and Melody Coffee-Bite toffees among the children. All the student volunteers were quite happy & satisfied by providing their small contribution in making the society more valuable & Beautiful.

Tree Plantation Drive at I.T.S Ghaziabad

A plantation drive was carried out by the faculty and staff of I.T.S Ghaziabad on 5th July, 2022.

 

 

Saplings were planted inside the campus and nearby areas to raise awareness and consciousness about the environment among the masses. Tree plantation is no longer a choice but a necessity of time.

The drive witnessed a huge success, empowering us with substantial knowledge of the environment and plants.

Guest Lecture “Managing Project Using Quantitative Techniques” for MBA students

Department of Management ,  I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Managing Projects Using Quantitative Techniques” in the hybrid mode on 28th June 2022 for MBA first-year students. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur welcomed the speaker, Ms. Batika Seth.

Ms. Batika Seth, presently working as a Portfolio Manager in Tata Consultancy Services. She is a technocrat with 15 years of rich experience in the IT/Telecom sector, with a variety of roles in project lead, service delivery, and project and portfolio manager.

The session was focused on the project lifecycle and the stages that are included in it i.e., initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control. She also discussed the project triple constraint i.e., time, scope, cost, and how a manager uses this constraint for the betterment of the organization and the stakeholder. And in the end, Ms Batika discussed some of the common techniques for project planning which are helpful in Breakdown structure, Gantt chart, Kanban, Analogous Estimation, Parametric Estimation, Bottom-up Estimation, Critical Path Method (CPM), Program Evaluation & Review Technique (PERT).

At the end of the session, a Q/A round was held in which the speaker cleared all the queries of the students regarding project management. It was an engrossing lecture. The event concluded with the presentation of virtual plaques as a token of gratitude and remembrance by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur to the guest speaker Ms. Batika Seth.

Staff Development Program on “Advanced Excel”

Department of Management at I.T.S Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad organized the Staff Development Program on “Advanced Excel” for the staff members on 24th June 2022.

Advanced Excel Functions refers to the features and functions of Microsoft Excel, which help the user to perform complex calculations, perform data analysis, and much more. The objective of this SDP was to improve the day-to-day efficiency of Staff personnel by making them well versed in various operations of MS Excel.

The speakers of the session were Prof. Sunil Upadhyay and Prof. Mansi Singh, who trained the staff on using advanced excel to bring creativity that leads to innovative ideas and solutions. They used various advanced excel tools like Conditional Formatting, Index, Pivot table, VLOOKUP, and HLOOKUP for effective learning.  They emphasized on lookup and pivot table function of excel for day-to-day operational activities.  A total of 20 staff members participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the session.

The staff development program was highly interactive, and participants were enthusiastically involved throughout the training.

The session turned out to be very informative for the participants.

Guest Lecture on “Capital Budgeting for Startups” for MBA students

A guest lecture was organized for MBA 21-23 batch on “Capital Budgeting for Startups” on 22nd June 2022. .

The resource person for the lecture was CA Mr. Vishal Sharma, Director – ECOO Global Advisors.  Mr. Vishal is having an experience of more than 17 years. His key expertise area is corporate finance and project appraisal.

The session was started with the welcome of Mr. Vishal by Dr. Vinay Srivastava with plant sapling. Mr. Vishal started his lecture with the introduction to capital budgeting techniques. He interacted with students on the application of NPV & IRR techniques in the industry. He took up a case of mobile industry and elaborated in details the facts of the industry.

 He told students that recently Central Government has asked Mobiles units to manufacture maximum part in India so that employment can be generated in India. For this mobiles units prepared a project estimating the parts which can be manufactured in India. For this NPV technique of capital budgeting was used and using this techniques government imposed 10% tax on import from china and introduced subsidy for Indian manufacturers. He also discussed that qualitative factors are also important with quantitative factors for evaluating a Project.

He also discussed the preparation of cost sheet for different parts like PCPA, Display unit, panel etc. He shared the factors affecting a project approval from government. He majorly emphasized on the generation of revenue for company as well as for government from the project. He also discussed the simple payback technique for evaluating the project. In closing of the session he asked students to be expert in MS EXCEL and Financial Modelling for bright future in finance industry.
