Workshop on Java Technologies

 A workshop on Java technologies, Java Core Concepts, Overview of J2EE, JSP, with concept MVC was conducted for MCA IV semester and BCA VI semester students on 16th February, 2018. The workshop was aimed to provide concepts of OOS and core java including elaboration of components of J2EE.

The workshop was continued with overview of MVC architecture and its importance in web project development in real life projects. The programming basics of JSP with MVC models were also discussed followed by hands on by the students. Students were given a glimpse development of login module in JSP and JDBC. In that students were explained the front end and backend(database) connectivity code and uses of jar files for the thin connection(Type-IV JDBC). The workshop was concluded with a java quiz.

workshop on Cyber Security for the students of MCA/BCA and MBAinassociation with Innovative Ideas Infotech and UP Police

Innovative Ideas Infotech is the largest NGO working on Cyber Security across country. The organization conducts workshop on cyber security and are also officially associated with UP Police. They have conducted sessions at the leading institutions across country including the IITs, IIITs, IIMs and now wish to conduct such a workshop in our institute too.

Department of I.T. organized two-days workshop on “Cyber Security”.The prime objective of this workshop is to eradicate cybercrime and making people aware about the threatsandflawsofthee-World. To eradicate the emerging Cyber Crimes AKTU had given the responsibility to InnovativeIdeas Infotech to conduct a free workshop on Cyber Security in our institute for our MCA/ BCA and MBA students on 12thFebruary, 2018.

While addressing the students Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey said that nowadays we are living in a cyber space and we cannot avoid the usage of internet, so it is every body’s moral responsibility to be aware of cybercrime and its implications. Dr. Vidhya Sekri, Director-UG campus also shared her views in this session. She also said that we should take proper care while sharing our details on the internet via social networking sites or e-banking. Director-Management, Dr. Ajay Kumar, MCA Chairperson, Prof. Puja Dhar, MCA Coordinator, Prof. SmitaKansaland other faculty members of Department of I.T. were also present during the session.

Mr. Rahul Mishra, Cyber Security Adviser of UP Police was the speaker of the session. During the session he covered all the latest Cyber Crimes going on in the digital world like ATM Card fraud, ATM Card cloning, Call spoofing, Mail spoofing and various other latest Cyber Crimes. The session was full of awareness about such crimes and was helpful to eradicate the Cyber Crimes.

First day the session was free of cost and based of the interest of the students he conducted the certification course of worth Rs. 700/- on second day. Today 82 students of MCA/MBA and BCA had participated on the second day. They were also awarded by the Certificate of Participation.

Overall the session was very informative.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

I.T.S UG Campus organized a Cricket Tournament forBBA & BCA all semester students, with aim at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to the students. Under the guidance of Dr. VidyaSekhri (Director UG Campus), Prof. Nancy Sharma (Vice Principal UG Campus) &Mr. Rajinder Singh Chawla (Sports officer) Cricket Tournament was scheduled meticulously and programmed very well for three days.The agenda behind this Cricket Tournament was to provide the platform where students can explore their talent and skills.
Total 8 Teams partici 11th February, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a day when the slum children got uncountable special goodies and two important lessons. Ms. Awantica Choudhary, a PGDM Volunteer had sent Motichoor Ke Laddoos for the slum children celebrating her recent placement.

Volunteers of the day Aru Bansal, Kriti, Lavi Gupta, Mayank Kumar, Jhalak Agarwal, Mahima Gupta, Nainsi Yadav and Novika Chadha started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on ‘Seasons’ during which the volunteer Ms. Novika Chadha explained 6 seasons, their peculiarities, duration, sequence and significance.

The second session of the day was on ‘Understanding the Doctor’s Prescription’. The children were told that the prescription mostly starts with Rx which is actually Rf and this stands for ‘Recover Fast’. So the doctor prays to the almighty for the fast recovery of the patient before he/she suggests a medicine. The children were also told that OD means that the medicine is to be taken once a day, BD means twice a day, TDS means three times a day, HS means at the bed time and SOS stands for Save Our Souls which means that the medicine is to be taken when there is pain in the body. The children were advised to always consult the doctor or an elder member of the family before taking the prescribed medicine even if they have understood the lesson well.

The children could not stop their mouths from watering as they saw the Laddoos sent by Ms. Awantica and Cadbury Bournvita biscuits brought by the PGDM alumni Ms. Parul Gupta, Mr. Abhishek Das and Ms. Rashi Srivastava. MBA Volunteer Aru Bansal had brought the packets of the special éclairs for the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided and accompanied the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Management Faculty attended AIMA “Global Procurement Summit 2018”

Management faculty Dr. Puneet Kumar and Dr. Indraneel Mandal of I.T.S, Ghaziabad attended two days summit on “New Frontiers Driving Transformation and Growth” was held on 08th & 09th February, 2018 at The Leela Hotel. The summit was organised by AIMA in partnership with the World Bank, supported by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Participants included practitioners, academia, corporate and Government officials.

The inaugural session featured Mr Nikhil Sawhney, treasurer of AIMA, as well as Vice Chairman and MD of Triveni Turbine Limited; Mr Vinay Sharma, Dirctor, Global Governance Practice, World Bank; Shri Vinay Narayan Jha, Secretary (Expenditure), Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance; and Shri Pon. Radhakrishna, Minister of State - Finance and Shipping, Government of India.
The dignitaries held forth on the importance of procurement in general and its status in India in particular, and the need to develop the area in the light of technological developments as well as the need for economic growth of the country. There was spontaneous exchange ideas among the delegates and the eager audience. Q&A sessions provided fertile interaction among all, often being limited by time. The summit also provided a framework for active networking among all concerned.

Management Department of I.T.S Ghaziabad organised a workshop on YES! I AM THE CHANGE – media for social change

The workshop started with the welcoming of guest by Director Management -Dr. Ajay Kumar and Dr. V. N. Bajpai (Programme Chairperson-PGDM). The trainer of the workshop was Ms. Saira Mujtaba, who is a professional documentary film maker along with Mr. Lohitaksh Sharma who is working with Centre for Youth as a programme executive. Along with them the event of graced by the presence of Ms. Nitika Maheswari , assistant vice president , Yes Bank and Ms. Ashima Chadha, assistant vice president, Yes Bank. Apart from the above mentioned dignitariesGagan Wadhwa (Senior Vice President)Yes Bank was a part of the event.

The workshop was solely based on the skills and techniques of photography and film making. The instructor Ms. Saira Mujtaba briefed the students about the technical aspects of movie making like clarity of voice, Editing, lighting, long shots, slow motions, mid shots and focused shots. The films/documentaryi.e..“Yamuna ke Gotakhor” and “Delivering Happiness” were also showcased on this event. Whereas Mr. Lohitaksh Sharma briefed the students regarding the rules and regulation of the challenge. Using the least time to express the whole theme of the movie without cluttering the screen should be the motive of a good movie maker.

The Entire event had a constant coordination of Students from Director’s Executive club, under the guidance of Dr. Garima Srivastava.

Management students attended 14th Auto Expo 2018 -Components"

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad organized a one day visit for 30 Management students with Prof. Alok Singh to 14th Auto Expo 2018-components at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. It was the largest B2B assembly of the Automotive Industry. It was Asia’s first of its kind and comprehensive Auto Component Show whose special focus was on BS 6 and EV Technologies. More than 1200 participants attended 14th Auto Expo 2018- Components from more than 20 countries.

Students have got the opportunity to be the part of inaugural ceremony where chief guests were Mr. Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Mr. Anant Gangaram Geete, Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India. Highlight of the address of both the ministers was to ease the Government policies for the investors and increase the infrastructure.

Finance Club Organized “Union Budget Analysis 2018” for PGDM and MBA Students

The Finance Club “Finvest” organized a session on the “Union Budget Analysis 2018” on 6th February 2018 for PGDM and MBA students in the Old Auditorium from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The session was conducted by the Finance Club students who presented the various categories under Union Budget 2018 broadly into Agriculture Sector, Railways and Airways Sector, Education, Health and Social Protection sector, Defense sector, Small and Medium Enterprises, Taxation, Retail Sector, Digital Economy and Infrastructure sector. The students not only discussed the changes proposed in the Budget but also the implication of the proposed changes for each of the sectors. The session was majorly attended by students both from PGDM and MBA with finance as their area of specialization.

The student speakers who spoke like experts were very much appreciated by their fellow students and faculty present during the session. Towards the end Director Management, Dr. Ajay Kumar congratulated the students for their zeal and participation in such events. The participants received certificates from Director Management, Dr. Ajay Kumar, PGDM Chairperson Dr. V.N. Bajpai, Prof. Parul Gupta and Finance Club coordinator Prof. Neetu Purohit. The prizes and certificates were also distributed for the ‘Online Quiz’ held by the Finance Club members in series during September to December 2017. The event was wonderfully coordinated by the Finance Club Office Bearers, President Mr. Vijay Choudhary from PGDM (2016-18), Rajat Kansal, Rishab Jain, Anchal Gupta, Surbhi Jaiswal, Yogesh and Tarun from PGDM (2017-19), President Rupanshi, Vice President, Pradeep from MBA (2016-18), Mayank, Ashish, Ujjwal and Shankar from MBA (2017-19).

Interactive Session on “Creating Startups for Social Entrepreneurship” .

Research Development Cell of Management Department at I.T.S Ghaziabad organized a session on social entrepreneurship by Mr. Sandeep Sneh, Manager, Ambedkar University Centre for Incubation, Innovation & Entrepreneurship,and Dr Avijit Chakravarti, journalist, educator and mentor. Mr. Sneh started the session by holding forth briefly on entrepreneurship in general, and social entrepreneurship in particular. In this context, he also mentioned in brief the activities and programs of his organisation, before yielding the stage to Dr. Chakravarti.

Dr. Chakravarti spoke for a little less than an hour on the different facets of social entrepreneurship. He began by explaining why organisations want to be socially relevant, and how they look to rectruit people for the same purpose. He illustrated through real life examples how socially relevant projects enable organisations to make money in the long run, while also generating benefits for the society at large. In this connection, he also explained the concept of sustainability, emphasising that it can come only from an entrepreneurial mindset.

Dr. Chakravarti also spoke about the need for looking upon communities as stakeholders in the business, rather than as beneficiaries. On the economic side, he mentioned the fact that this kind of entrepreneurship results in affordable products. Bulk sales result in attractive margins, while also ensuring employment for those involved. Session ended with a question and answer round. It was a very engrossing session in the area of social entrepreneurship. Students were very enthusiastic about the knowledge gained through the session and were already looking forward to more such interactions. Session was well coordinated by Dr. Rajeev Johari, Dr. Indraneel Mandal and Mr. Lokesh Upreti.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

4th February, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was titled as ‘Car-naama’ in which the children were told about the internal parts of a car and their functions. The purpose was to kindle a curiosity in them about machines and their engineering. The class also included a session by Prof. Gourvi.

Volunteers of the day Anukriti Dubey, Khushnuma Siddiqui, Rishu Kejriwal, Swati Yadav, Anshul Jain, Amit Kashyap, Ankit Singh, Mayukh Sau and George Rudolf Henry started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

he first session of the day was titled as ‘Carnaama’ during which the volunteer George explained the various parts of car and their functions. The children were told about the basic functions of clutch, brake, accelerator, engine, etc. A comparison of cars was also made. At the end of the talk, a quiz was conducted to test the absorption of the content delivered and the best responses were appreciated and awarded with the prizes.

The second session of the day was on Self Introduction which was effectively conducted by Prof. Gourvi. She asked the children to prepare the name, father’s name, mother’s name and the address. Soon the children started performing confidently with the given details. She also conducted a workshop to enrich their English vocabulary. The main words she included were – hobbies, habit, early, savings etc.

Volunteers Rishu Kejriwal and Swati Yadav had brought the packets of the special éclairs for the children celebrating their recent placements. The class concluded with the distribution of biscuits and éclairs among all the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

An invited talk by Eminent Speaker "Prof. T. V. Vijay Kumar, Professor, School of Computer Systems Sciences, JNU Delhi"was organized on 3.2.2018, at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad. Before starting of the session, Prof. T. V. Vijay Kumar was warmly welcomed by Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey Director IT, by presented him a Sapling. Dr. Umang presented a brief about the Session and introducing the Guest Prof. T.V. Vijay Kumar with audience.

In this session, Prof. T. V. Vijay Kumar delivered talk on “Big Data & Hadoop”.The session included discussions on chronological evolution of Databases to Big Data, concepts of Heterogeneity, Autonomy, Architectural Models, Semantic &SyntaticHeterogenity, Ontology Based Data Integration, Data Mining and Web Mining, Clustering, Data Stream Management and deep insight of Analytics and its different variations. 
This event was in the series of Invited talks by national speakers of repute by Dept of IT of the institute with an objective to provide the detailed insight of the latest developments in technology, research issues and futuristic development. After the talk, Dr Sunil Kumar Pandey, Director IT felicitated to the Guest of the Day - Prof. T.V. Vijay Kumar, Professor, JNU, New Delhi at the Institute. Prof. T.V. Vijay Kumar also interacted with the faculties and answered the queries related with research& applications raised during the session. It was overall learning and knowledge sharing session for participating students & faculty.

C Club of Department of IT Conducted a Workshop on “C Programming” for MCA Students

C Club of Department of IT, in association with CSI Student Branch @ I.T.S, conducted a half-day workshop on “C Programming” for MCA students from 1.45pm-4.40pm. The objective of this workshop was to prepare students to code better by understanding programming best practices.

The workshop was taken by Prof Chandra Mani Sharma. He started the workshop with an interesting analogy of natural languages with programming languages. He explained the basic concepts of C programming including Data Types, Operators, Conditional Statements, Loops, Arrays, Pointers and Functions. Further, it was demonstrated in the workshop how to develop logic out of given problem and how to use different programming constructs to write the program.

The participants practiced these concepts in the lab and found it very useful. The workshop completed with lots of learning!

Management Faculty attended FDP on Teacher to Mentor

Prof. Nitin Saxena along with Prof. Ankur Ahuja from attended a Faculty Development Program on the theme “A journey from Teacher to Mentor” organized by Delhi School of Professional Studies & Research in association with Divine Group and Global FDP on 3rd February, 2018. The speaker for the session was Mr. Beni Kinha, Nector Factor. Mr. Beni is a famous trainer having more than 20 years experience in corporate training.

The session started with a small activity in which each participant are supposed to discuss their life experience with the neighbor participant. Then Mr. Beni invites each participant and asks each faculty to present a solution/ gist of the discussion. After all participants finished their presentation, Mr. Beni pointed on the retention power of brain and how different people perceived things in different manner.
