‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

29-12-19

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme of Department of Management, I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad conducted ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme with a celebration of Christmas.

Shashank started off the day with a session on why Christmas was celebrated across the world. Sudhanshu joined him to explain the different facets of the life of Jesus Christ, including his crucifixion and subsequent resurrection.

Next came an interesting session with role play by Nikita, Aditi, Khushboo, Kaushambi and Prabhanshu, based on the well known story of Unity is Strength. Shashank played the role of the narrator, as he went through the familiar tale of the father who was having problems with his feuding children. Finally he gave a stick to each child, asking them to break the stick. They did so easily. Then he tied all the sticks together and instructed them to break them. When they failed to do so, the father advised them why it was necessary to stop fighting and stay together.

Then it was time for some fun with Abhishek dressing up as Santa Claus and the party got going as he danced around all the kids. Naturally the kids also got into the mood. Things got even better as the well known Christmas tune Jingle Bells was played out, and the kids held hands while dancing together.

Pencil boxes which had been bought through contributions from the Parivartan volunteers were then distributed among the children.

Finally Sunfeast Cakes and Parle Mango Bite Toffees were distributed among the children before they headed homewards. Dr. Indraneel Mandal accompanied and motivated the student volunteers.
