Blankets Distribution by ‘Parivartan’

06-01-18

6th January, 2018 was one of the coldest days of the season. On this challenging day, the volunteers of ‘Parivartan’, a CSR Club of ITS, Ghaziabad, distributed the blankets to the needy and the poor people struggling to keep themselves alive in the freezing winds. Volunteers – Rakesh Dam, George Rudolf Henry and Prashanjit Sen started around 11:00 pm with the faculty coordinator Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi and covered almost all directions and corners of the city from Dilshad Garden to Meerut Road, Vaishali, Anand Vihar, Surya Nagar, Sahibabad, Vasundhara, Lohia Nagar, Patel Nagar, New Bus Stand Ghaziabad, Old Bus Stand Ghaziabad and various other places of the city. The distribution took around 5 hours, starting at night and continuing till early morning.

Out of countless stories of amazement, tears and blessings, two stories are worth special mention. While we were in Bajariya (Ghaziabad Railway Station Road), the volunteers spotted two people sleeping on footpath even without linen. They were coiled around a Drum Furnace (Tandoor) of a small dhaba. Even the Tandoor had gone cold. The volunteers took no time in covering them with the warm blankets.

Another emotional moment was when the volunteers went ahead on the Passport Office Road in Kaushambi. They found a teenager pulling a rickshaw in just a shirt without proper woolen. When the volunteers clothed him with a thick jacket, the pleasure of warmth was brimming into his eyes. The boy did not hesitate in asking for a blanket too. It was given to him immediately and was reciprocated with deep obligation and a wide smile.

This noble task ended with the utmost satisfaction, unforgettable experiences and the countless blessings. The blankets and jackets were bought with the money donated by the students, faculty and staff members of ITS, Ghaziabad
