Utthan - CSR initiative

On 21st July, 2018, new season of Utthan - CSR initiative of I.T.S, Ghaziabad was started. The day was dedicated to “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan”. On this day, students were briefed about how they can contribute to Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan with small efforts with a practical session in Computer labs and Extempore Competition.
Volunteers of the day – Varun Arora , Punit Modi ,Samina Khatoon ,Hitesh, Aru, Apurva, Surabhi Jaiswal, Rahul Yadav, Harshwardhan, Rahul Gupta, Deeksha, Nikita, Prabhat, Richa Tyagi, Siddharth, Dhanesh, Ayushi Gupta, Mayukh Sah, Argha Majumdar, Prawan, Rohit, Shruti, Shubham, Jhalak, Radhika Jain, Niranjan, Archana, Nidhi Singh and Sakshi started the day with the brief on the day’s activities and the competition.
The talk of the day was on ‘Swachh Bharat Ka Irada Kar Liya Humne….’ during which the efforts to be put in for swachhta were discussed. The session was started by Prof. Nitin Saxena with explanation of blue and green dustbins and their uses. Bad effects due to plastic bags were also discussed. After this, Mansi Saxena of PGDM I showed them a video on sanitation and discussed the diseases caused by bad sanitation condition.
The second session of the day was a practical session in the computer labs. The children were taken to Lab 1 and Lab 2 where the task was to search and explore about the garbage management and ill effects of bad garbage management. The children entered the designations into Google and read the details on Wikipedia.
The last session of the day was an Extempore Competition during which all the children shared their views declaring – ‘Steps to be taken for Swachh Bharat and our responsibilities in implementing it’. They not only praised their country but also identified the areas of concern and accepted the challenges.
The day ended with the motivation talk by Director Management – Dr. Ajay Kumar Sir. He not only motivated the students but also shared the ways they can keep themselves healthy and clean. At the end, 33 little speakers were chosen as winners of fabulous prizes like School Bags, Pencil Box, Geometry Pouch and Colors etc.
The activity concluded with the snacks and the cold drinks served to all. All the children were gifted with Crax, Biscuits and chips. Prof. Nitin Saxena & Prof. Shilpi Rana guided the volunteers and enjoyed the activity as the faculty coordinator of Utthan.
SPOC Felicitation Workshop at IIT Kanpur Outreach Centre, Noida

I had attended SPOC Felicitation Workshop at IIT Kanpur Outreach Centre, Noida on 21st July 2018. Objective of the workshop was to felicitate SPOCs of those colleges in which students were top scorer and also to look for the feedback of the January 2018 NPTEL courses. Prof. Satyaki Roy National Coordinator, NPTEL, IIT Kanpur, Ms. Lalty Dutta, Project Manager, NPTEL, IIT Kanpur, Ms. Angana Sengupta Coordinator, Local Chapter, IIT Kanpur along with SPOC’s of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir were present.
Before beginning of the session, Prof. Satyaki Roy warmly welcomed the gathering. Prof. Satyaki Roy briefed about details of NPTEL, how and when it has been formed, before it was planned to just deliver video lectures, later on it has been shifted to online certification. He also briefed about achievements of NPTEL till date like 30,000+ video hours, 371+million NPTEL website view, 271+ million you tube views etc. He also shared the statistics of number of students and faculty participation from initial years to Dec 2017. He also communicated how these courses helped students in their placements.
Dr. Vidushi Singh requested Prof. Satyaki Roy to consider Ghaziabad also for the Examination Centre of NPTEL Online Examination. Prof. Satyaki also informed that AICTE has signed a MOU with NPTEL that faculty members doing 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks NPTEL courses will be considered as faculty member has attended ½ FDP of one week, Full FDP of one week and 1 ½ FDP of one week respectively.
At the end SPOC of various colleges were felicitated by Prof. Satyaki Roy National Coordinator, NPTEL, IIT Kanpur, Ms. Lalty Dutta, Project Manager, NPTEL, IIT Kanpur and Ms. Angana Sengupta Coordinator, Local Chapter, IIT Kanpur.
It was totally an interactive session where SPOC from various universities and institutes of repute discussed about the various courses provided by NPTEL and also gave their suggestions to make these courses more effective for masses.
Overall it was a good learning experience about operation of NPTEL online courses.
‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

15th July, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad, was an interesting and enriching day for the children. Volunteers of the day were – Aprajita Srivastava, Shashwat Sinha, Souvik Banerjee, Varun Arora and Nirja Rani.
During the first session, Dr Indraneel Mandal familiarized the students with the major states of the country and their capitals. It was amusing to note that while the children knew the names of certain states and capitals, they mostly could not connect one with the other. In that sense it turned out to be an eye opener for them.
The second session dealt with basic math skills – specifically addition and subtraction. Once again a lot of enthusiasm was noted among the children as Shaswat and Aprajita put up a number of questions, all of which were satisfactorily answered by the little students.
The activity concluded with the distribution of “Crax curls” and “Mango Bite toffees”. Prof. Lokesh Upreti accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club - Parivartan.
Visit to IOS Excellence Center, ITS Greater Noida by MCA students

The students of MCA final year I.T.S Mohan Nagar visited Center of Excellence at ITS Engineering College on 12th July, 2018. The purpose of the visit was to have a Workshop on IoS to understand the basic concepts of working Mac operating system and the process of mobile application development by using Objective-C and IOS app development platform.
The workshop was divided into two sessions. The first session focused on the conceptual aspects of the IOS app and its importance in the present era of computing world. The trainer Mr. Mukesh Kumar explained the scenario of ios app development and its applications with its security aspects also. The second session was taken by Mr. Pankaj Kumar. This session was based on hands on practices by the students to understand the development process of IoS apps. The students were accompanied by two faculty members of IT Department, ITS Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad, Prof. KP Singh and Prof. Abhay Kr. Ray. The students were happy and appreciated the efforts put in by the IT Department for their learning on advanced technology.
‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

8th July, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad, turned out to be rather unique for the children. Volunteers of the day were – Hitesh Sharma, Shiksha Rawat, Palak Gupta, Dushyant Raghav, Prabhat Awasthi and Nandesh Singh.
During the first session, Prof. Lokesh brought an interesting flair to the turn of events by familiarizing the learners with some not-so-well-known English terms for well-known North Indian snacks and tit-bits. The children were expectedly excited to see their favorite foodstuffs, while also being intrigued by their possible English names.
As if this was not enough, more excitement followed in the second session, when the volunteers conducted a team building game “LADDER JUMPING” involving all the children. The objective was to impress on the children how to work and overcome obstacles as a team. Dr. Indraneel Mandal explained to the students why working as a team was so vital and effective.
The activity concluded with the distribution of “Crax curls” and “Mango Bite toffees”. Dr. Indraneel Mandal accompanied and motivated the student volunteers. Prof. Lokesh Upreti guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club - Parivartan.

1st July, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad, started interestingly with a discussion on the occurrence of seasons. Volunteers of the day were – Yogesh Bisht, Aru Bansal, Hitesh Sharma, Rashi Tyagi and Anurag Kushwaha.
In the first session Prof. Lokesh explained to the eager eyed children what the seasons are and how they occur due to the movement of the earth around the sun. The children were captivated to know about how the length of the day changes through different times of the year.
In the second session, Dr Mandal familiarised the students with the use of gender in the English language. He first interacted with them about gender within the family. Then he explained them how gender prevails among animals.
The activity concluded with the distribution of “Priyagold Cream Biscuits” and “Parle Melody toffees”. Prof. Lokesh Upreti accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club - Parivartan.
Management Faculty attended FDP on Universal Human Values and Professional Ethics.

Dr. M.K Jha and Prof. Bhavna Bhardwaj from Management Department, ITS Mohan Nagar, attended eight days Faculty Development Program on Basic Level - Universal Human Values and Professional Ethics, organized by Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TQEP), Government of India Phase III and AKTU, Lucknow, from 23/6/18 to 30/6/18, at ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad.
The workshop was divided into four different levels:
I. Self harmony
II. Harmony in the family
III. Harmony in the Society
IV. Harmony in nature and cosmos
The first level concentrated on understanding co-existence of self and body, importance of right understanding, analyzing the importance of relationship and identifying the required physical facilities for self comfort and existence. This session also emphasized on role of our pre-conditionings in our day to day decisions and behaviour.
The second level talked about prosperity in the family. The difference between intention and competencies of an individual was brought about in this session. Thus, the importance of right evaluation of a person’s competencies was discussed very elaborately. The nine core family values were also shared in this session.
The third level talked about extension of family’s harmony with the society. In the fourth level the importance of correlation amongst the four orders of the entire cosmos i.e physical order, pranic order, animal order, human order so as to understand the relationship of mutual fulfillment within each order. During workshop, sessions were organized on video shows, group discussions and experience sharing, thereby, giving a holistic understanding on the subject.
The session concluded with an understanding that mutual fulfillment is inherent in nature to live in harmony and prosperity. The resource persons for the session from university were Shri Gopalji , Shri Manoj Gupta, Mr. Tarique and Mr. Talaan. Around 80 faculty members from different management and engineering colleges of AKTU participated in the workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to propagate human values to the student fraternity through faculty and thus creating sensitization amongst students for a better, value driven behavior and self development.
Faculty Development Programme on “ Data Analytics with R” at KEC Ghaziabad in Association with E&ICT IIT Roorkee

Two faculty members from Department of IT, ITS Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad ( Prof. KP Singh, and Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray) attended a six days Faculty Development Programme on “Data Analytics with R” organized by Krishna Engineering College ,Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad in Association with E&ICT IIT Roorkee, during 26th -June-2018 to 1st-July- 2018. The objective of this FDP was to increase understanding of Statistics, data Analytics, Machine Learning with R Programming and its real life applications which will help the participants to carry out various analytical studies.
The said six days faculty development programme was conducted by Mr. Sriraman Rajagopalan. He covered all the basics of R Programming , Apply functions ,processing of different file formats , Basics of statistics in R ,Machine Learning Algorithms like linear regression, logistics regressions ,Decision Tree, Random Forest, Support vector machines, support vector machines, k-Nearest Neighbors ,k-Means Clustering with hands on implementation of these algorithms with R. At the last of this training programme we submitted a mini project based on machine learning algorithm which was evaluated and appreciated by the resource person.
The training programme was very useful and we learnt many new things from this programme.

24th June, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad began with the recapitulation of the previous day’s lessons on good manners. Students demonstrated enthusiastically their learnings by vigorously wishing everybody present.
The first session of the day was an interactive activity on learning 3D mathematical shapes taught by PGDM volunteer Ms. Jhalak Agrawal. She expertly helped the students understand the relatively difficult concepts by providing effective real life examples.
The second session of the day was an engaging game based on the use of traffic signals. The session was coordinated by PGDM volunteer Mr. Hitesh Sharma, who helped them grasp the basic traffic concept of “WAIT – READY – GO” involving the three colours. The 16 winners of the game received a packet of Haldiram’s Takatak each as their prize.
The activity concluded with the distribution of Parle biscuits and éclairs by frequent visitor Prof. Gourvi Kakkar Madan of Govt. Degree College near Dadri. Dr. Indraneel Mandal accompanied and motivated the student volunteers. Prof. Lokesh Upreti guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club - Parivartan.

17th June, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an exciting session, to celebrate Father’s Day. The children were told that every year 3rd Sunday in the month of June is celebrated as “Father’s Day”. The Children were given the task of preparing a greeting card and surprise their father at their home. The children showed full enthusiasm and dedication towards the given activity.
Volunteers of the day were – Yogesh Bisht, Abhay Gupta, Aprajita Srivastav, Priyanshi Gupta and Varun Arora. Rajendra Sharma and Anita Verma from MBA 2016 – 18 batch showed great enthusiasm towards Parivartan Club and voluntarily joined the activity.
The first session of the day was an activity on learning the 12Hrs. and 24Hrs. format of time and its importance and relevance in day to day life.
The second session of the day was on learning good Habits and manners which the children have to follow and inculcate in themselves. They were told to keep a check on each other so they all regularly practice good habits thoroughly.

10th June, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an activity based session during which the children enjoyed learning the directions right and left, up and down. They also learnt finding directions in a map. Prof. Lokesh Upreti interacted with the slum children generously and enjoyed his debut at the CSR.
Volunteers of the day – Hitesh Sharma, Punit Modi, Aru Bansal, Pankaj Prasad and Prabhat Awasthi started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.
The first session of the day was an activity on directions. The purpose was to make children familiar and sure about directions like right and left, up and down. The children were asked to stand in rows and lift their respective hands up when instructed. Those who responded well to instructions were selected for the next round and those who failed to understand the instructions, were asked to sit down. The second round of the same activity was to move head up and down as per instructions. The instructions were random and changing frequently. Finally 23 winners were chosen for the sweet surprise – Motichoor Ke Laddu.
The second session of the day was on Map Reading during which the children were told how to find directions East, West, North and South on map. This was explained with the examples of cities like Jammu, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
The activity concluded with the distribution of Haldirams Takatak and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.
Dr. Shuchita Singh attended Seminar on Financial Literacy.

Faculty of Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad attended seminar on Financial Literacy. The topic of the seminar was Financial Literacy Awareness Program (FLAP). The seminar was conducted by Mr. Varun Malhotra, IIM A alumnus and eminent speaker on Financial literacy. Mr. Malhotra has conducted such sessions in BSF, CEGR, DAV schools, IIFL and many other Institutions.
The points discussed during the seminar were, Knowing Investing, Understanding Active and Passive income, understanding the risks associated with investing, different investment strategies, like buy and hold, when to buy and when to sell, IPO strategy and the power of compounding.
The speaker not only delivered the talk in a very smooth manner, but also answered the queries of audience in a simple and easy to understand way. The lecture was highly informative and useful for the beginners in investment world.

3rd June, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a twofold session on Vedic Math and World Environment Day. Besides, PGDM alumni Shivani Bhatt made the day sweeter for slum children with the Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates.
Volunteers of the day – Veerangana Preetam, Ankush Mehta, Abhay Gupta, Shivani Bhatt and Hitesh Sharma started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.
The first session of the day was on ‘Vedic Math’ which was effectively conducted by Mr. Hitesh Sharma. He started with the question – What are Vedas? Then he named all four Vedas namely Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda and Atharv-veda. He also talked about 16 sutras and 13 sub-sutras. After a detailed session on Vedic Math, he also revised tables for the children.
The second session of the day was on ‘World Environment Day’. The children were told about the meaning of the word and the significance of the day. They were informed of the measures to keep the environment neat, clean and healthy.
A revision of tables along with a quiz on the exercises done was also conducted. Ms. Shivani Bhatt of PGDM 2015-17 had brought Cadbury Dairy Milk for the children and made their day special.
The activity concluded with the distribution of Crax and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

27th May, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an important awareness programme on Nipah virus. Volunteers Aru Bansal and Shiksha Rawat pasted the cut-outs on the board and beautifully presented how Nipah spreads from bats to human beings.
Volunteers of the day – Anurag Kushwaha, Varun Arora, Aru Bansal, Shiksha Rawat, Yogesh Bisht, Bittu Nagvanshi and Hitesh Sharma started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.
The significant discussion of the day was on ‘Nipah’ virus. Volunteers Aru and Shiksha had brought beautiful cutouts to explain the virus and its cycle. The cutouts were pasted on the board. They included a bat, an apple, a pig and human beings. Initially the children were told what are viruses and bacteria.
The children were also told how this virus got its name. Actually this virus was first identified in the ‘Nipah’ village of Malaysia so it got its name from there. Presently it is widespread in south India especially Kerala.
The symptoms of Nipah were explained for the slum children which included fever, headache, body ache, cold and dull efficiency of mind. In extreme cases, the patient may go into coma and die. The children were told that so far ‘Nipah’ is incurable and fatal. They were told to avoid eating fruits with cuts, bites or the rotten ones. They were also advised to avoid non-veg food presently especially pigs. The children were suggested to consult a doctor immediately if the symptoms appear.
The activity concluded with the distribution of Parle 20-20 biscuits and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey, Director (IT), I.T.S, Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad receives prestigious NextCSO Award of IT Industry on 25th May, 2018 in the annual event of CSO Forum of India and leading Media House 9Dot9. The event was fully supported by Google, CISCO, Microsoft, Dimension Data and other leading IT Companies. The two days event was organized at Hotel Crown Plaza, Greater Noida in which 14 Future CSO’s were declared as winners and awarded with Trophies & Certificates. Dr. Pandey was only representation from Academia. Apart from receiving award, it was a great opportunity to meet, interact and exchange our views on the issues related to Cyber Security with Global Cyber Security Leaders and Experts of global companies.
