Utthan Activity " PADEYGA INDIA, TABHI TO BADEGA INDIA " .

In the series of various sessions conducted under Utthan (CSR Activity), a new session has been organized on 8th September'2018 to celebrate “International Literacy Day” with 137 active participants. To make this day memorable and knowledgeable for the students, participants were introduced to MS Office by making them aware to use MS Word and MS Paint on the computer systems.

Volunteers started the day with a small presentation on MS Office and Importance of Education in India among the children.

Students were taken to the computer lab1 & lab 2 for practical session where they were explained with the basics of MS Word and then how typing can be done on MS Word was taught by student volunteers. After the practical session at computer labs a competition on the same was held among the students in which students were given a minute to speak on the use of MS Office.

For the students below 5 years of age “Explain the picture Competition” was organized. In this competition a picture was showed to them, on which they spoke for 40 seconds.

The session was coordinated by Prof. Nitin Saxena and Prof. Shilpi Vaish and they both discussed the importance of Literacy to the students.

The Vice Chairman, Mr. Arpit Chaddha Sir felicitated the Program and graced the Program with his presence. In his address sir discussed the importance of literacy. Also sir has also shared about the World Physiotherapy Day which is also celebrated on 08th September every year.

Director Management, Dr. Ajay Kumar motivates the students to make other people literate. Also he explained why we celebrate this day. He also explained the functioning of UNESCO.

At the end, 33 little speakers were chosen as winners for fabulous prizes like Pencil Box, Geometry Pouch and Colors, Note books etc.

The activity concluded with the snacks and the cold drinks served to all.

Friday Club Activity held at the Management Learning Centre.

The Friday Club activity for the 7th of September, 2018 involved Prof. C.K. Sabharwal addressing the faculty members on the topic “India: Imminent Changes round the Bend”. Apart from the regular faculty members of the institute, Dr S.P. Mishra was also present as a special invitee.

Prof. Sabharwal started the session with the observation that it is a great thing for a country when citizens start thinking beyond themselves, something that was applicable for India right now. He also made the point that in order to look at the future, it is necessary to consider the past, providing a brief snapshot of India under the Mughals and the British.

Coming to the India of the present, Prof. Sabharwal mentioned the demographic dividend, which is obviously a major advantage for us compared to many other countries of the world.A pivotal moment was when in contrast to the pyramid suggested by C.K. Prahalad, Prof. Sabharwal stressed on the diamond as the middle class could be broken up into higher and lower income groups. The rich also included a global Indians segment, as evidenced by recent developments.

Among other notable mentions, Prof. Sabharwal spoke about women empowerment, a new mindset amidst the youth and emergence of small towns as major centers of growth.

At the same time, Prof. Sabharwal also cautioned against developments like intolerance, resistance to change, reservations, coalition failures, corruption, fading unity in diversity, and lack of transparency and diversity.

The session came to an end with remarks and observations by Prof. Manoj K. Jha and Dr Mishra. It was a fruitful session as everybody present had a glimpse of the possible future of the nation and the pitfalls involved.

Corporate Talk Session by Mr. Amit Sharma for PGDM and MBA (2018-20) Batch.

Department of Management at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized Corporate Talk on the topic “How your thinking impacts your future” on 7th September 2018 for PGDM and MBA (2018-20) Batch.

The guest speaker was Mr. Amit Sharma, Divisional Head-VRV Business at Daikin Air-conditioning India Pvt. Ltd.

He spoke against the confined thinking behind the dark walls of conservative skies, which advocates limits. Declining the beliefs and boundaries, he approved limitless beliefs.

He also spokes on Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) which according to him is an approach to communication and personal development.Mr. Sharma said that through NLP we create a connection between neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life.

He explained that classic interaction in NLP can be understood in terms of several major stages including establishing rapport, gleaning information about a problem mental state and desired goals; using specific tools and techniques to make interventions, and integrating proposed changes into the client's life.

He demonstrated that the entire process is guided by the non-verbal responses of the audience. He took an exercise with the students, in which he established a rapport between himself and the students. Mr. Sharma assisted the students in achieving the desired outcomes by using certain tools and techniques to change internal representations and responses to the world.

At the end of the corporate lecture a special vote of thanks was proposed for a wonderful and interactive session.

Workshop on”Export Import Procedure and Documentation” organised by RDC

The Research Development Cell (RDC) of Institute Of Technology And Science, Mohan Nagar organised a workshop on “Export Import Procedure and Documentation” for the PGDM and MBA 2nd Year students at the Dronacharya Auditorium on 7th of September 2018. The speaker for the day was Prof. H.P. Singh, Project Director and Chief Consultant, NIESBUD.

Prof. Singh began by explaining why exports are important for any country. Specifically he pointed out the need and significance of exports for India. He went on to describe the different items that are exported from India, taking care to single out those items where India has managed to carve out a niche for itself. He also added instances from his own experience not only to emphasise the issue under discussion, but also to enthuse the students to take up the option of being involved in an exports based business.

In the latter part of the workshop, Prof. Singh spoke about the different kinds of documentation needed for an export business, indicating how and when several of them were required.

There was a question and answer session at the end where Prof. Singh addressed queries of the students on areas like Letters of Credit and the effects of the Rupee devaluation.

It was a very informative session where the final year students gained useful perspectives on the export business.

Teachers' Day Celebration by MCA Students

Students of MCA Programme celebrates "Teacher's Day" at I.T.S Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad on  5th September, 2018. The celebrations started by seeking the blessing of Maa Saraswati and formal Lamp Lighting ceremony by Shri Surinder Sood, Director (PR), I.T.S - The Education Group, Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey, Director (IT), Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director (Management), Dr. Vidya Shekri, Director (UG), Prof. Nancy Sharma, Vice Principal (UG), Prof. Puja Dhar, Chairperson (MCA Course) and Prof. Smita Dixit Kansal, Coordinator (MCA Course). 

Shri Surinder Sood, Director (PR), I.T.S - The Education Group while addressing the students spoke about the importance and  significance of Teachers Day. Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey, Director-IT, I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad appreciate the efforts of students for making the day memorable and  emphasized the importance of parents and teachers in one’s life. Dr. Vidya Shekhari, Director-UG, I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad in her address explain importance of teachers and the role they play in every students life. Prof. Nancy Sharma, Vice Principle-UG, I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad appreciate the efforts of students. Prof. Puja Dhar, Chairperson-MCA share her view on this occasion and thanks the students for organizing such a wonderful event. Prof. Smita Kansal, Coordinator-MCA extended their heartiest thanks to all students and also appreciated the new prefects for their successful coordination. 

The cultural show incorporated poems, songs and dance were organized by the students. As token of gratitude students has prepared short video clip for teachers. Of course, Teachers’ Day will never be complete without the students mimicking their teachers. All in good humour, a few teachers quirky styles of teaching were re-enacted for everyone to enjoy! 

The programme ended by cake cutting and distribution of gifts to the teachers. Teachers have a positive disposition towards the whole event and enjoyed the day.

PGDM and MBA students from Management Department of I.T.S Ghaziabad organized Teacher's Day Celebration which marks the birth of the great teacher, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishan on 5th September, 2018 at Chanakya Auditorium of the Institute. The celebrations reverberated with formal Lamp Lighting by Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S - The Education Group, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director Management, Dr. V. N. Bajpai, Chairperson, PGDM Program, Dr. Anusha Agarwal, Chairperson, MBA Program, Dr. D.K. Pandey, Controller of Examination, Prof. Durba Roy, Head-CRC, Prof. C. K. Sabharwal and Prof. Santosh Kumar Sood.

On this auspicious occasion our Vice Chairman, I.T.S - The Education Group, Shri Arpit Chadha, appreciated the faculty members for working tirelessly in shaping the dreams of the students. Director Management, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar also talked about the significance of the day for both the students and the faculty. The students presented gifts, as a token of respect, to their teachers. Cultural programmes were organized by the talented students which enthralled the faculty and the students present in big numbers. The event concluded with a lovely video compilation of the fond memories of faculty and students.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

2nd of September, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad, dawned as an auspicious day, as preparations were on all around for the celebration of Janamashtami. The gloomy rainy weather seemed to reinforce this point.

The volunteers for the day were Hitesh Sharma, Abhishek Dwivedi, Bhavendra Singh Kaurav, Kalyani and Megha Nigam.

Hitesh started the day with a discussion on Vedic maths. He explained the origin of this special approach to solving mathematical problems, and used sums to show how it can be used to simplify big calculations. In order to reinforce the learning, the children were asked to come to the board to solve the examples.

In the second session of the day, Abhishek decided to explain the origin and significance of Janamashtami. He told the children the story of how Lord Krishna was born to his parents in captivity, and how he went on to vanquish his evil uncle Kansa. An impromptu quiz was held to test the knowledge acquired by the children.

The day ended with the distribution of "Bikano Namkeen" and "Mango Bite Toffees" among the children. Dr. Indraneel Mandal accompanied and motivated the student volunteers. Prof. Lokesh Upreti guided the volunteers in the conduct of the programme as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club - Parivartan.

Reunion of MCA/MIS/MIT Alumni

With an objective of increasing interaction and strengthening the institute-alumni relationship, Reunion of MCA/MIS/MIT Alumni was organized at the institute on 1st September, 2018 at the institute. This event was organized for the first time exclusively for the alumni of MCA/MIS/MIT Programme at the institute by Department of IT.
Formally, the event started with the reception of alumni in the institute. About 150 Alumni their spouse and kids participated in the event with full enthusiasm. The event formally began with the Welcome of Alumni and their family by the Director (IT) - Prof. Sunil Kr Pandey who welcomed the alumni and presented a brief about the institutional growth, activities, achievements and departmental initiatives & accomplishments of department of IT. Dr. Umang, MCA Alumni Coordinator briefed about an event.

After formal inaugural Session, the event included, in which Alumni, their Kids, Spouse and Parents participated and enjoyed every moment of it:

1. Experience Sharing by Alumni

2. Games & Activities for Kids, Male Alumni, Female Alumni, Couples, Parents

3. Magic Show

4. Networking & Interaction

There were number of activities and games were planned and conducted for the alumni, their spouse and kids separately. These activities were objectively planned for the wife, kids and alumni for their separate participation and then there were some activities in which alumni along with their family were involved. Alumni and their family members participated in this event with full enthusiasm and enjoyed every moment of their stay at the institute during the Reunion.

Towards the end of the programme all the Alumni members were felicitated by the Director (IT) with specially prepared Memento and books edited by Honorable Chairman Sir - I.T.S The Education Group. The activities were conducted by the faculty team of Alumni Coordinator (PG(IT)) - Dr. Umang Singh, Prof. Smita Kansal and Dr. Vidushi Singh.

Alumni members were happy with the event and requested for such events on regular basis. They also promised to extend their support in the process and in the institutional activities. Total 150+ Alumni with their spouse and kids family members from senior batches (who passed out in the year 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005).

Overall the feedback from alumni was very good and they enjoyed their stay at the institute during Reunion-2018.

Management Students participate in a special show "Takkar" at India Today Group.

42 students from PGDM and MBA (Batch 2018-20) and MBA Batch (2017-19) along with Prof. Shikha Arora visited India Today Group on 01st September, 2018 to participate in a special show "Takkar" based on the topic, "Demonetization and Rafale Deal". This visit was organized by Department of management at I.T.S Ghaziabad. Guests for this session were Senior Congress Leader, Sh. Abhishek Manu Singhvi and National Spokesperson of BJP, Sh. Sudhanshu Trivedi.

First part of the session comprised of an interesting debate between the political leaders representing the opposition parties on the Impact of Demonetization on the growth of the economy. Several related issues like GDP growth rate, hike in petrol and diesel prices were discussed.

Second part focused on the controversial Rafale Deal. There were claims and counterclaims put forth by the opposition leaders over India’s deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter aircraft as the Congress-led opposition isrelentlessly raising questions over the financial terms of the agreement while the government is rubbishing the accusations.

Students participated very enthusiastically and asked several questions.

It was an insightful and thought-provoking session.

Management Faculty attended FDP on Insight of Investment Avenues.

Prof. Nitin Saxena with Prof. Ankur Ahuja attended a National level Faculty Development Program on “Insights of Investment Avenues” organized by DAV Centenary in collaboration with The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Faridabad on 01st September, 2018.

Speakers for the day were CMA Sunil Sigh, Chairman of Northern India Regional Council of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Dr. K.P Kaushik, Professor, National Institute of Financial Management, Dr. Ajay Garg, Certified corporate Valuer and Mr. Ravish Bhateja, Motivational Speaker.

Mr. Sunil Singh elaborated the traditional investment options and their return history with reference to government policies in last 7 years.

Dr. K.P Kaushik explained the derivative market and about new instruments which can be traded in capital market.

Mr. Ajay Garg explained that how secondary income can be generated and how much it is important to link the family regular expenditure with savings. He also explained the risk associated with each investment option.

The purpose of the program was to enhance the understanding about the different investment avenues available in the financial system, so that one can contribute towards the economic development. The program also aimed to enhance the knowledge of capital market and hence to better prepare students as well equipped advisors and investor.

FDP was very insightful for the participants.

Department of Management organized Faculty Interaction under the RDC.

Faculty Interaction was organized by Research Development Cell to capture the need of analytics skill sets by the faculty. Twelve faculty members attended the session.

Prof. Hemant Purohit initiated the session by telling the importance of analytics skill set to be acquired by the ITS students preparing for forthcoming placement process in I.T.S.

Prof. Lokesh enquired about the tools relevant to the students and he was told that besides tools, the process of analytics to be understood holistically.

Dr. Charu and other HR faculty members were curious whether the current state of our students is sufficient or some add on market relevant skills are needed, if yes, then how to acquire these skill set(s). Prof. Hemant explained in detail and was of the view to get the new role profile the skill sets pertaining to analytics have to be acquired by doing hands on by the workshop mode.

Faculty of finance enquired about data audit and also informed that lot of finance functions are being taught in MS-Excel, students are trained to do financial analysis on MS-EXCEL. Prof. Hemant clarified and also told that using MS-Excel for analysis is also Analytics which is used in DDD (Data Driven Decision) process in modern organization.

Prof. Hemant shared one example related to Bajaj Finserve, Pune, where the input from Head-Analytics, that they look for students to use simple Excel application to predict employee churn time, rather to go for expensive and sophisticated software packages.

Finally, Prof. Hemant wrapped the session by emphasizing that skill sets of analytics with industry relevant and in holistic manner from domain to business process, tools, techniques used to help business in order to create value for the customer and organization itself.

Guest Talk delivered by Dr. Umang at BPS

Dr. Umang delivered a Guest Talkon “Journey towards wired networks to Adhoc Networks” on 28th August, 2018 for B.Tech CSE/IT 1st& 4th year was organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology , BPS MahilaVishvidyalaya, Sonipat.

The session had witnessed the participation of 60 students from B.Tech Course. In this session, I have discussed on various communication technologies and its impact on different real life applications. While discussing about proliferation of technologies, I have presented a detailed discussion on Adhoc networks, Vehicular Adhoc Networks & FANETs and its empirical research issues. In addition to this, Introduction of Network Simulator, its Importance, types of Network Simulators, Requirements and their simulation were also explained through demonstration using NetSim.

Overall it was a great learning experience to interact, share views & thoughts.

Department of Management organized a session by Mr. Tarun Gulyani, Motivational speaker and NLP practitioner, hismission is to help others to stay positive always and find inner happiness. He motivated the students to keep learning because it makes a man alive. He believes that each and every human is unique and special and that we are all born to be successful. The only thing that stops us is our own beliefs about what’s possible and what’s not. He emphasized that one should not allow the PAST or the FUTURE to rob you of your PRESENT. He said Life is like a bank account, you withdraw from what you’ve put in, deposit lots of happiness in this account of memories. He believes that mind is terrible master but a very good servant. Lastly he said “be grateful to what you have” and proceed with the given foundation with full enthusiasm and dedication in order to be successful in your endeavor without differentiating and comparing with others status.

Students were very interactive during the session and benefitted a lot.
