Dr Umang delivered Session at BVICAM

Dr Umang delivered Session on “Routing Protocols for IoT” on 21st May 2018 in in Two Weeks Faculty Development Programme on “Emerging Research Trends in Computer Science and IT” from 14th - 26th May, 2018, organized by IEEE Delhi Section & IIPC (AICTE) of BVICAM, New Delhi, in collaboration with IEEE Computer Society (Delhi Section), CSI Delhi Chapter & ISTE Delhi Section at BVICAM, New Delhi.

The session had witnessed the participation of 40+ young faculty members and researchers from renowned colleges and universities. In this session, various communication technologies and its impact on different real-life applications were discussed. While discussing about proliferation of technologies, a detailed discussion on IoT devices in MANETs, Vehicular Ad hoc Networks & FANETs, IoT based Routing Protocols RPL and its empirical research issues was presented. In addition to this, Introduction of Cisco Packet Tracer, NetSim, its Importance, types of Network Simulators, Requirements and simulation of IoT devices were also explained through demonstration using Cisco products.

Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programm

20th May, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a blast of fun and fabulous prizes. On demand of children summer games were organized during which the little players tested their skills to the fullest and enjoyed as never before.

Volunteers of the day – Aditya Pandey, Shreya Mani Tripathi, Aru Bansal, Varun Arora, Rohit Tiwari, Rashi Tyagi, Samina Khatoon, Ankit Jaggi, Arpan Banerjee, Argha Majumdar and Neha Agarwal started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The children were waiting eagerly for this day as they had been told that on this date they would have a chance to participate in the Summer Games. A game with five plastic pins and five rings was put as a task for the children and they had to throw the rings so that they fall on the pins. One by one everyone got one’s chance. Around fifty winners were given fabulous prizes like school bag, Milton water bottle, Plastic Trishul, Plastic Gada, Balls, Uno Cards, Toy Pistols, Air Pencil, Block Games, Bubble makers, Toy train, interesting books and Nestle Maggi packets.

The game and the uproar of competition went so high that the family members of the children, neighbours and passersby also joined in to have fun by watching it live. At the end of the competition, even the PGDM and MBA volunteers also tested their hands on the rings and teased each other with loud laughter and boundless fun.

The activity concluded with the distribution of prizes, Crax Curls and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Utthan Club Activity

18th May, 2018 activity of Utthan Lab, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a grand Painting Competition along with a session in Computer Lab and a talk on ‘Bringing Joy in Society’. Volunteers of the day – Shiksha Rawat, Puja Mourya, Aru Bansal, Neha Agarwal and Hitesh Sharma started the day with the brief on the day’s activities and the competition.

The talk of the day was on ‘Bringing Joy to the Society’ during which the children were told to spare more time for the family members and keep good relations with the neighbours. They were told that they should spend more time with friends and family members than on mobile phones. They were also guided that when they go to attend birthday parties, having fun, good memories and strengthening relationship should be the priority not the cost of the gifts exchanged.

The second session of the day was a practical session in the computer labs. The children were taken to Lab 1 and Lab 6 where the task was to explore why storms emerge. Those who found the best answer on internet were felicitated with special prizes.

Drawing and Painting was the competition of the day. Out of around 140 children, 30 were chosen as winners of fabulous prizes like Tiffin Box, Money Bank, Chess, Ludo, Flying discs, Throwing rings, cold-drink bottles and Waffy chocolates. The encouraging presence and address of Director Management Dr. Ajay Kumar boosted the morale of the children. He not only blessed them with his kind words but also felicitated them with prizes and appreciation.

The activity concluded with the snacks and the cold drinks served to all. All the children were gifted with Drawing sheets, sketch pens and salty snacks Crax Curl. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided the volunteers and enjoyed the activity as the faculty coordinator of Utthan Lab.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

13th May, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a stormy session on Mother’s Day. The children poured out their heart with the feelings for their mothers. This was soon followed by a real storm as if witnessing and approving the swirling emotions of the innocent children.

Volunteers of the day – Priyanshi Gupta, Kriti, Mansi, Soniya Dhawan and Nitin Kumar started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day. Kriti had brought a packet of chocolates for the children.

The first session of the day was on the ‘Mother’s Day’ during which the children were reminded about the sacrifices that a mother makes throughout her life. She sleeps at night with food, if left, after feeding others; and without food if no food is left, saying that she is not feeling hungry today. How she takes care of children, their health, breakfast, lunch dinner, their future, tastes and expectation – was all discussed with day to day examples. Soon after assembling for the class, the children had already started shouting – today is mother’s day.

Hardly the session on Mother’s Day had completed, the storm came with huge, thick and wide dust all around. The scene was scary. The fire brigade staff came forward to guide and help. All girl volunteers demonstrated indomitable courage and confidence, and extended memorable help and care. They were firm, still and unmoved. Finally the storm surrendered and went away.

The class concluded with the distribution of Crax Curls and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

PG-IT and UG-Mgmt faculty members attended training programme on “Digitalization of Marketing”

Prof. K.P. Singh, Prof. Smita Kansal, Prof. Abhay Ray and Dr. Namita Dixit attended a two days Training Programme on “Digitalization of Marketing” organized by AKGIM, Ghaziabad on 11th -12th May, 2018. The objective of this programme was to understand the age of digital era as means to enhance digital marketing for an organization and how digital platforms can be effectively used for digital marketing services. 
The training programme was scheduled for two days and there were three sessions each day. On the first day the first session was taken by Prof. Namita N Kumar on Introduction to Digital Marketing. In this session Prof. Kumar discussed about various background and platforms of digital marketing. The second and third sessions were taken by Mr. Sanjay Tiwari, founder of "Net Potatoes" InternetVentures. He is Strategic Advisor &Mentor to Indicus Netlabs (Raftaar. in). He has worked with multinational companies including Leo Burnett,Saatchi & Saatchi, FCB, Brand prophet,ENZ Communications and Indicus Analytics. Mr. Sanjay Tiwari enlighten the basics of digital marketing. He brought that the area of marketing can be considered in two aspects. The first aspect is passive marketing or push marketing and the second aspect is active marketing or pull marketing. Mr. Tiwari continued his talk on how to utilize various social media platforms to create an effective marketing campaigns. Mr. Tiwari also discussed the measurement techniques to obtain results of running campaigns.

The day 2 was started by Mr. Krishna Kumar Singh from Karving Talent Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Singh covered the process of website designing including domain registration, the hosting process and developing and designing of websites on online plateforms.
The next seesion were continued by Mr. Soumitra Chakraborty, Director Resource Management at Carving talent. He has worked with Brands like Alcatel, TATA Lucent and Panasonic. He is associated with NIESBUD, NSDC and Handicraft Mega Cluster Mission (HMCM), as trainer in the area of Digital Literacy, Digital Marketing and e-Commerce. Mr. Chakraborty demonstrated the process of SEO and SMO. He discussed in details about selecting SEO Keywords analysis of SEO and SMO to enhance benefits out of these processes.

The training programme was very useful and we learnt many new things from this programme.

Special Session on "Mind Renovation for mastering in Life skills for beyond success and growth"

A Session on "Mind Renovation for mastering in Life skills for beyond success and growth was organised at ITS, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad in association with CORE HR IR GROUP & FMA on 12th May, 2018.

Director Management Dr. Ajay Kumar in his inaugural address welcomed the participants and wished them a great learning experience. The session was conducted by Mr. Deepaq K Sharma, CHRO and Director People Practice, DSG Ag Holdings Singapore.

Mr. Sharma shared his thoughts on the purpose of human life and discussed ways to maximize the potential of human mind. He talked about Success, Failure, Karma and Destiny and how to deal with various challenges in life. An exercise was also conducted for the participants to align the mind, body and soul with Sound of Cosmos.

It was a very interactive session wherein lot of queries were raised by the participants. The session was attended by HR professionals from the Industry and Faculty members of ITS Ghaziabad.

At the end of the session, Dr. Ajay Kumar felicitated the speaker and the special guests with mementos and saplings. The session was successfully coordinated by Prof. Shikha Arora.

11th Table Tennis Tournament - 2018

Institute of Technology & Science, Mohan Nagar organized 11th Edition of Table Tennis Tournament “1stGhaziabad District Table Tennis Ranking Tournament for the year 2018, on 12th and 13th May, 2018 at the Sports Complex of Mohan Nagar campus. 302 participants were registered from various schools and colleges of Ghaziabad, such as DPS-Ghaziabad, DPS-Meerut Road, Presidium-Raj Nagar & Chander Vihar, Modern Public School, JKG Public School, Skyline Public School, DDPS, Jaipuria etc.

There were four age categories for male & female in the tournament. These are as follows:

1. Under-21 (Both for boys& girls)

2. Under-18 (Both for boys& girls)

3. Under-15 (Both for boys& girls)

4. Under-12 (Both for boys& girls)

The Tournament was inaugurated by Sh. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S-The Education Group. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director (Management), Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey, Director (I.T.), Dr. V.N. Bajpai, Dr. D.K. Pandey, Mr. Rishi Raj-Convener of Ghaziabad District Table Tennis Committee and Chief Refree Mr. Vaibhav Khare were present on the occasion. The event was anchored by Dr. D. K. Pandey.

 

On 13th May, 2018 prizes were distributed among the winners in different age categories. Dr Ajay Kumar, Director (Management) felicitated the prize distribution alongwith Mr. Rishi Raj-Convener of Ghaziabad District Table Tennis Committee. Chief Refree-Mr. Vaibhav Khare Dr. D.K. Pandey, Sports Officer-Mr. RS Chawla, coaches from different schools, parents and other guest were also present in that prize distribution ceremony.

Staff Development Programme

Department of Management, at I.T.S Ghaziabad, organized Staff Development Program on 7th May 2018. The session was conducted on "Employees Assessment and Engagement" for the staff members from administration, registrar office and IT Department. Program was addressed and conducted by Dr. M. K. Jha, Professor at I.T.S Ghaziabad.

The major objective of this program was focused on understanding personality traits, interpersonal skilsl and other related soft skills of employees and suggesting them tips for self development and transformation for insuring higher degree of engagement, participation and commitment with organization and system.

Program started with deliberation of role, significance and contribution of Staff members in any service organization, importance of soft skills and personality traits of an individual employee in successful completion of roles and responsibilities assigned to them.

For this purpose workshop was also organized in classroom as well as in computer lab for assessing individual employees' characteristics and personality traits for future developments and active engagement with the system and organization.

All the participants showed great enthusiasm during the session.

6th May, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a class on the precautions to be taken during storms. Besides PGDM Volunteer Ms. Jhalak Agarwal narrated a story for the children which was followed by routine revision.

Volunteers of the day - Achyut Agarwal, Jhalak Agarwal, Vaibhav Sharma, Apurva Tyagi, Kiran Gupta and Rahul Yadav started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on ‘Facing the Storms’ during which the children told about the precautions to be taken during storms. They were informed that in case of storms, only flashlight (battery torch) should be used, not lamps or lanterns. We should remain inside the house. Refrigerator should not be opened. Electrical equipments should be turned off. Gas stove should be off. If in open, one should stand away from the overhead electric wires etc.

The second session of the day was a story narration conducted by Ms. Jhalak Agrawal. She narrated the old story of Lion, rat and the net but gave it a twist. She highlighted the words used in the story and asked the children to give their English substitutes. Each important word and the moral of the story were carefully explained in detail.

The last session of the day was the revision of tables and other previous exercises.

The class concluded with the distribution of Haldirams Takatak and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Management Department organized ADIEU- MBA 2016-18 Batch

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad organized ADIEU- Farewell ceremony of MBA 2016-18 Batch on 5th May 2018. It was an emotional celebration, as the students of MBA (2017-19) bid farewell to their seniors.

The occasion was graced by Honorable Lady Vice Chairman Ms. Latika Chadha as the Chief Guest. Her presence motivated the students and made the evening even more special.

The evening commenced with Lamp Lighting followed by a riveting Ganesh Vandana dance by the students.

Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director (Management) in his address blessed the outgoing students for a successful journey ahead. He motivated the students to always see themselves as good ambassadors of the Institute and to keep on strengthening the relationship with their Alma Mater.

The junior batch enthralled the audience with their captivating performances. Songs on friendship made the senior batch emotional whereas a Retro mash-up group song performance forced everyone to groove. A Rap performance was devoted to celebrate the relation of the junior and the senior batch. Finally dance performances added vigour and excitement to the evening.

The most awaited moment of the night was conferring of the titles to the senior batch. Ms. Lavi Gupta and Mr. Prakhar Pandit won the titles of Ms. and Mr. Popular respectively and Mr. Mohit Choudhary and Ms.Konika Tyagi were the recipients of the titles of Mr.& Ms. Farewell.

Dr. D. K Pandey, Chairperson -MBA program wished success to the passing out batch on behalf of the Institute and congratulated them for demonstrating extra ordinary performance towards studies, in their relationship with the faculty, Management, the junior students, and even among themselves. He also appreciated the junior batch for their efforts in putting up such a grand show for their senior batch.

Students were emotional as they were leaving behind their friends and the institute. At the same time they were also excited and optimistic towards the possibilities which the future holds for them.

The evening ended on a high note where all the students rocked the dance floor and enjoyed the DJ followed by dinner.

The farewell ceremony full of celebration and emotions created lasting memories for all and strengthened the bond between the passing out batch and the institute.

10th Open Chess Championship-2018,

I.T.S Ghaziabad organized, 10th Open Chess Championship-2018 on 05th and 06th May, 2018. 104 participants from 22 schools, 12 colleges and universities participated in the tournament. Participants from Muzaffarnagar, Bijnore and Meerut along with Delhi & NCR took part in this championship.

There were six age categories in the tournament. Matches were played in a league basis and each player had to play 6 matches and points were calculated on that basis.

The Championship was inaugurated by Sh. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S-The Education Group. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director (Management), Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey, Director (I.T.), Prof. Nancy Sharma, Vice Principal, (U.G.) were present on the occasion. The event was coordinated by Dr. D. K. Pandey.

On 06th May, 2018 prizes were distributed among the winners in different age categories. Dr Ajay Kumar, Director (Management) , Dr. D.K. Pandey, Sports Officer R S Chawla, coaches from different schools, parents and other guest were also present in that prize distribution ceremony.

Cash prize of 46,000/- was distributed among the winners along with trophies under different categories. All the participants, coaches, parents, guests enjoyed the event with great enthusiasm.

Dr. Umang attendedevent titled ‘Workplace 2025: Technology, Talent & Transformation Conclave 2018’ powered by Times Internet Limited. This event was held in New Delhi on May 4, 2018, which was hosted by India's leading CEOs, CTOs, CHROs and business leaders. 
The event was started with a CEO power breakfast, anchored by Gautam Sinha, CEO, Times Internet power Limited. He discussed about ‘The Evolution of Work: New Realities Facing Today’s Leaders’. In this event, Bhavdeep Singh, CEO, Fortis, Suman Reddy Eadunuri, MD & Country Head, Pegasystems, Pankaj Dubey, CEO & Director, Polaris, Rahul Parikh, CEO, Bajaj Capital, Akhil Bansal, Deputy CEO India, KPMG, Paul Dupuis, MD & CEO, Randstad were present.

The highlight of the morning was an exclusive video message by Art of Living’s Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who has introduced the conclave concept to the audience. After that, spiritual session by Sister Shivani from the Brahma Kumaris foundation who guided the audience about the importance of mental well-being in a tech-driven world 
Thereafter, the day was comprised of four subsequent panel discussions featuring human resources leaders from companies like Ericsson, Ernst & Young, Welspun, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, Grey Orange, Raymond Ltd, Idea Cellular, Unisys, Uber, Dell, Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd, Biocon, Microsoft, Mastercard, Coca Cola, Cargill India, Coursera, Ipsaa Day-Care, XOXO Day and IKEA India among others. These leaders threw light on the tech interventions happening in their companies and industries at large. 
One session worth watching in the afternoon was a robot showcase by Mitra Robot who will conduct a humour session. There were two exclusive CTO roundtable discussions, where technology heads from India’s top companies joined in for an impromptu debate on how to collaborate men and machines and take businesses further.The day was marked by networking opportunities with all delegates and speakers and conclude with ‘JobBuzz New-Age Workplace Awards’.

It was overall good learning experience.

Staff Development Programme

 2nd May, 2018 was a very special date for the staff members of ITS, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad as the institute had organized an interesting Staff Development Programme for them. The theme of SDP was ‘Effective Communication, Stress & Time Management’. The resource persons for the SDP were Prof. Shikha Arora and Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi.

The SDP was inaugurated by Director Management Dr. Ajay Kumar who in his inaugural address pointed out the importance of the theme of SDP and asked the participants to remain interactive throughout all sessions of SDP. He said that an SDP can be effective and fruitful only when we have an internal urge to update ourselves with the latest knowledge and skills. He wished the participants a great learning and fun.

Soon after the inaugural addresses, the high energy SDP began. Prof. Shikha Arora took the session on Effective Communication while Dr. G.K. Dwivedi elaborated the nuances of Stress and Time Management. A variety of tools were used for the effective training and sharing the various aspects of the theme. Staff-members showed unprecedented interest in the tasks like opening a fist, getting signatures on Bingo sheets, sharing what they think about their partner in SDP and a PT like exercise that ended with a great learning and a lot of fun. Videos on amicable organizational behaviour and emotional support to colleaguea not only attracted the participants but also generated a lot of learning out of discussions after the videos.

At the end of the SDP, the staff members shared their experiences and takeaways. Finally the SDP, packed with fun, learning and games concluded with the valedictory session.

29th April, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a class on the Shapes (Math) and Articles (English) which concluded with a poem on clouds.

Volunteers of the day - Punit Modi, Ankush Mehta, Aprajita Srivastava, Syed Kunain, Pramendra Singh Tomar, Vinayak Pandey and Yogesh Bisht started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on the ‘Articles’ (A, An and The). The basic rules were explained for the children with the examples. They were also told why ‘A’ comes before a university and ‘An’ before an MLA. The children took great interest and learnt the concept earlier than expected.

The second session of the day was on the ‘Shapes’ (Circle, Triangle, Square, and Rectangle). Here also the basic rules were explained for them so that they can easily identify and differentiate the shapes. The marker board itself was used to explain the rectangle.

The last session of the day was the recitation of the poem ‘Jhoom jhoom kar aate baadal, reh reh jal barsaate baadal. Duniya jab pyasi ho jati, sabki pyas bujhaate baadal.’ The impact of the innocent voices of the children was such that the clouds actually appeared in the sky during the activity itself and later rained at night.

The class concluded with the distribution of Crax Curls and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.
