‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

6th May, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a class on the precautions to be taken during storms. Besides PGDM Volunteer Ms. Jhalak Agarwal narrated a story for the children which was followed by routine revision.

Volunteers of the day - Achyut Agarwal, Jhalak Agarwal, Vaibhav Sharma, Apurva Tyagi, Kiran Gupta and Rahul Yadav started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on ‘Facing the Storms’ during which the children told about the precautions to be taken during storms. They were informed that in case of storms, only flashlight (battery torch) should be used, not lamps or lanterns. We should remain inside the house. Refrigerator should not be opened. Electrical equipments should be turned off. Gas stove should be off. If in open, one should stand away from the overhead electric wires etc.

The second session of the day was a story narration conducted by Ms. Jhalak Agrawal. She narrated the old story of Lion, rat and the net but gave it a twist. She highlighted the words used in the story and asked the children to give their English substitutes. Each important word and the moral of the story were carefully explained in detail.

The last session of the day was the revision of tables and other previous exercises.

The class concluded with the distribution of Haldirams Takatak and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Management Department organized ADIEU- MBA 2016-18 Batch

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad organized ADIEU- Farewell ceremony of MBA 2016-18 Batch on 5th May 2018. It was an emotional celebration, as the students of MBA (2017-19) bid farewell to their seniors.

The occasion was graced by Honorable Lady Vice Chairman Ms. Latika Chadha as the Chief Guest. Her presence motivated the students and made the evening even more special.

The evening commenced with Lamp Lighting followed by a riveting Ganesh Vandana dance by the students.

Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director (Management) in his address blessed the outgoing students for a successful journey ahead. He motivated the students to always see themselves as good ambassadors of the Institute and to keep on strengthening the relationship with their Alma Mater.

The junior batch enthralled the audience with their captivating performances. Songs on friendship made the senior batch emotional whereas a Retro mash-up group song performance forced everyone to groove. A Rap performance was devoted to celebrate the relation of the junior and the senior batch. Finally dance performances added vigour and excitement to the evening.

The most awaited moment of the night was conferring of the titles to the senior batch. Ms. Lavi Gupta and Mr. Prakhar Pandit won the titles of Ms. and Mr. Popular respectively and Mr. Mohit Choudhary and Ms.Konika Tyagi were the recipients of the titles of Mr.& Ms. Farewell.

Dr. D. K Pandey, Chairperson -MBA program wished success to the passing out batch on behalf of the Institute and congratulated them for demonstrating extra ordinary performance towards studies, in their relationship with the faculty, Management, the junior students, and even among themselves. He also appreciated the junior batch for their efforts in putting up such a grand show for their senior batch.

Students were emotional as they were leaving behind their friends and the institute. At the same time they were also excited and optimistic towards the possibilities which the future holds for them.

The evening ended on a high note where all the students rocked the dance floor and enjoyed the DJ followed by dinner.

The farewell ceremony full of celebration and emotions created lasting memories for all and strengthened the bond between the passing out batch and the institute.

10th Open Chess Championship-2018,

I.T.S Ghaziabad organized, 10th Open Chess Championship-2018 on 05th and 06th May, 2018. 104 participants from 22 schools, 12 colleges and universities participated in the tournament. Participants from Muzaffarnagar, Bijnore and Meerut along with Delhi & NCR took part in this championship.

There were six age categories in the tournament. Matches were played in a league basis and each player had to play 6 matches and points were calculated on that basis.

The Championship was inaugurated by Sh. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S-The Education Group. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director (Management), Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey, Director (I.T.), Prof. Nancy Sharma, Vice Principal, (U.G.) were present on the occasion. The event was coordinated by Dr. D. K. Pandey.

On 06th May, 2018 prizes were distributed among the winners in different age categories. Dr Ajay Kumar, Director (Management) , Dr. D.K. Pandey, Sports Officer R S Chawla, coaches from different schools, parents and other guest were also present in that prize distribution ceremony.

Cash prize of 46,000/- was distributed among the winners along with trophies under different categories. All the participants, coaches, parents, guests enjoyed the event with great enthusiasm.

Participation of Faculty-IT in Digital Conclave JobBuzz workplace 2025

Dr. Umang attendedevent titled ‘Workplace 2025: Technology, Talent & Transformation Conclave 2018’ powered by Times Internet Limited. This event was held in New Delhi on May 4, 2018, which was hosted by India's leading CEOs, CTOs, CHROs and business leaders. 
The event was started with a CEO power breakfast, anchored by Gautam Sinha, CEO, Times Internet power Limited. He discussed about ‘The Evolution of Work: New Realities Facing Today’s Leaders’. In this event, Bhavdeep Singh, CEO, Fortis, Suman Reddy Eadunuri, MD & Country Head, Pegasystems, Pankaj Dubey, CEO & Director, Polaris, Rahul Parikh, CEO, Bajaj Capital, Akhil Bansal, Deputy CEO India, KPMG, Paul Dupuis, MD & CEO, Randstad were present.

The highlight of the morning was an exclusive video message by Art of Living’s Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who has introduced the conclave concept to the audience. After that, spiritual session by Sister Shivani from the Brahma Kumaris foundation who guided the audience about the importance of mental well-being in a tech-driven world 
Thereafter, the day was comprised of four subsequent panel discussions featuring human resources leaders from companies like Ericsson, Ernst & Young, Welspun, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, Grey Orange, Raymond Ltd, Idea Cellular, Unisys, Uber, Dell, Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd, Biocon, Microsoft, Mastercard, Coca Cola, Cargill India, Coursera, Ipsaa Day-Care, XOXO Day and IKEA India among others. These leaders threw light on the tech interventions happening in their companies and industries at large. 
One session worth watching in the afternoon was a robot showcase by Mitra Robot who will conduct a humour session. There were two exclusive CTO roundtable discussions, where technology heads from India’s top companies joined in for an impromptu debate on how to collaborate men and machines and take businesses further.The day was marked by networking opportunities with all delegates and speakers and conclude with ‘JobBuzz New-Age Workplace Awards’.

It was overall good learning experience.

Staff Development Programme

 2nd May, 2018 was a very special date for the staff members of ITS, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad as the institute had organized an interesting Staff Development Programme for them. The theme of SDP was ‘Effective Communication, Stress & Time Management’. The resource persons for the SDP were Prof. Shikha Arora and Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi.

The SDP was inaugurated by Director Management Dr. Ajay Kumar who in his inaugural address pointed out the importance of the theme of SDP and asked the participants to remain interactive throughout all sessions of SDP. He said that an SDP can be effective and fruitful only when we have an internal urge to update ourselves with the latest knowledge and skills. He wished the participants a great learning and fun.

Soon after the inaugural addresses, the high energy SDP began. Prof. Shikha Arora took the session on Effective Communication while Dr. G.K. Dwivedi elaborated the nuances of Stress and Time Management. A variety of tools were used for the effective training and sharing the various aspects of the theme. Staff-members showed unprecedented interest in the tasks like opening a fist, getting signatures on Bingo sheets, sharing what they think about their partner in SDP and a PT like exercise that ended with a great learning and a lot of fun. Videos on amicable organizational behaviour and emotional support to colleaguea not only attracted the participants but also generated a lot of learning out of discussions after the videos.

At the end of the SDP, the staff members shared their experiences and takeaways. Finally the SDP, packed with fun, learning and games concluded with the valedictory session.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

29th April, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a class on the Shapes (Math) and Articles (English) which concluded with a poem on clouds.

Volunteers of the day - Punit Modi, Ankush Mehta, Aprajita Srivastava, Syed Kunain, Pramendra Singh Tomar, Vinayak Pandey and Yogesh Bisht started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on the ‘Articles’ (A, An and The). The basic rules were explained for the children with the examples. They were also told why ‘A’ comes before a university and ‘An’ before an MLA. The children took great interest and learnt the concept earlier than expected.

The second session of the day was on the ‘Shapes’ (Circle, Triangle, Square, and Rectangle). Here also the basic rules were explained for them so that they can easily identify and differentiate the shapes. The marker board itself was used to explain the rectangle.

The last session of the day was the recitation of the poem ‘Jhoom jhoom kar aate baadal, reh reh jal barsaate baadal. Duniya jab pyasi ho jati, sabki pyas bujhaate baadal.’ The impact of the innocent voices of the children was such that the clouds actually appeared in the sky during the activity itself and later rained at night.

The class concluded with the distribution of Crax Curls and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Management Faculty attended 54th Founder Memorial Lecture of Sriram Institute for Industrial Research.

On 26th April 2018, Management students along with Dr. M.K. Jha and Prof. Lokesh Upreti, from I.T.S Ghaziabad, attended the 54th Founder Memorial Lecture of Sriram Institute for Industrial Research on the topic “Innovating on a Carbon Budget”, at Kamani Stadium, New Delhi.

The program began with the welcome address by Dr. K.M. Chacko, Director, Sriram Institute for Industrial Research.

The Chief Guest and Core speaker of the Program was Dr. Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of revolutionary carbon recycling company, LanzaTech, USA. Her lecture emphasized on understanding the waste carbon better. She focused on minimizing the environmental hazards and degradation due to carbon waste. Her deliberations highlighted the research in the areas of generating Energy, Fuel and chemical with the methods which are carbon free. She also highlighted the methods of converting carbon to products and not pollution.

Other dignitaries present were Padmabhushan Dr. Manju Sharma, Shri Tilak Dhar and Shri Anil Gujral.

The visit concluded with the distribution of snacks packets to all the students and a heartfelt good bye to organizers.

Management Faculty attended the session by ICRIER.

Dr. Indraneel Mandal, Management Faculty of I.T.S Ghaziabad, attended session organized by ICRIER at the Juniper Hall of the India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road. The session was organized for the launch of its report on internet blackouts and their economic impact in India.

The session was initiated by Dr. Rajat Kathuria, Director and CE, ICRIER, through his welcome address. He went on to describe various salient features of the report and the work involved in its preparation.

The dignitaries assembled on the stage included Rai Mahipat Ray, District Magistrate, Collector and Deputy Commissioner, Ranchi, Jharkhand; Rajan S. Mathews, Director General, Cellular Operators Association of India; Raman Jit Singh Chima, Policy Director, Access Now; and Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, Info Edge.

Dr. Kathuria joined these dignitaries in unveiling the report before the gathered audience, which kept swelling up in numbers with the passage of time.

During the panel discussion Mr. Ray talked about his experience of calling for a 36 hour internet blackout during a riot like situation in Bareilly. Mr. Chima provided the voice of civil society, holding up examples from around the world, and offering suggestions on how to minimise such occurrences and how to deal with the fallout if something like this happens. Mr. Mathews spoke from the viewpoint of mobile companies, musing that they are often involved only at the last moment to play the role of a fire fighter. Mr. Bikhchandani dealt with the impact on entrepreneurs, falling back on his immense experience at Naukri and other such startups.

The long but enlightening discussion was followed by a Q&A session with the audience, which turned out to be very lively and most thought provoking.

The entire experience was an eye opener about internet shutdowns, the impact of fake news, privacy matters and the future of technology.

Faculty members of Department of I.T. including Prof. Puja Dhar , Prof. Saurabh Saxena and Prof. Varun Arora attended one week Faculty Development Program on “Computer Forensics and Cyber Crime” during 23rd April to 27th April, 2018 conducted by Department of Information Technology, ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program- Phase III( TEQIP-III) Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow.

The objective of this FDP was to explore legal issues related to cyber-crime and computer forensic, including constitutional rights and legislation, right of privacy, and methods involved in creating legislation concerning cybercrime. The FDP also discussed about procedures for conducting a computer forensics investigation across a variety of software. The resource persons to conduct the program were experts from industry and academia with excellent track record of accomplishment in technical education, research and out-reach. Overall the FDP was a new learning for all the participants

22nd April, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an important discussion on Earth Day along with another session on the Importance of Savings in our lives.

Volunteers of the day - Vaibhav Hemrajani, Harshvardhan, Anchal Gupta, Annu Sharma, Utkarsh Yadav, Anjali Kasana, Anchal Omar, Souvik Banerjee, Prabhat Awasthi and Veerangana Preetam started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on the ‘Earth Day’ and the children were told the significance of the day and the mother Earth. The common hazards of pollution, wastage of natural resources and human interference into Nature were discussed in detail. The emission of fatal smoke from automobiles, harmful factory wastes, usage of polybags, wastage of the gifts of Nature were elaborated with the daily and easy to relate examples. The children also stood up and took an oath that they would take better care of Mother Earth and cleanliness all around.

The second session of the day was on the ‘Importance of Savings’ in our lives. The children were told what a bank is and the benefits of having a bank account. Three types of bank accounts were discussed in detail – Savings Account, Current Account and PPF Account. The general terms, conditions and benefits were explained for the curious kids.

PGDM 2016-18 batch CSR volunteer Ms. Nidhi Singh made this day even more important for the tiny tots as she had sent pens, pencils, erasers and éclairs for them out of her pleasure of recent placement in a reputed company.

The class concluded with the distribution of Crax Curls, biscuits, tattoos and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Faridabad, Gurugram etc. with full packedChanakya Auditorium of the Institute. The activities include - Technical (C Programming, Java Programming, IT Quiz, Web Designing, Project Presentation), Cultural (Solo Song, Duet dance, Solo Dance), Literary (Paper Presentation, Extempore, Poster Presentation) and Fine Arts (Rangoli, Face Painting, Movie Making).

Department of Management at I.T.S Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad organized a webinar on “Digital Marketing for Business & Career Growth” for the faculty members of management on 18th April, 2018. Mr. Pradeep Chopra, CEO of Digital Vidhya conducted the webinar. Digital Vidya is Asia’s leading Digital Marketing & Data Analytics training company and the first to launch Social Media Marketing Workshop Series in India.

Mr. Chopra started the discussion with some questions related to digital marketing and the various areas of opportunities available in the field of Digital Marketing. Mr. Pradeep Chopra has also given the insights about Digital marketing developments and shared how this has changed the way brands and businesses use technology for marketing. He spoke about how digital platforms are increasingly incorporated into marketing plans and everyday life, and how the people’s pattern of purchase has completely changed specially in urban areas after the inception of digital marketing. He has shown enormous statistical data’s showing customers growing use digital devices instead of visiting physical shops. He has also discussed strategies to make digital marketing campaigns more prevalent and efficient.

At last, Mr. Pradeep Chopra discussed opportunities and challenges in content development, campaign development, and social media marketing along with application of various tools & techniques to attract traffic to the particular page or website.

Insights shared by him on Digital marketing could be of great help for all the participants. The webinar and its contents were very well appreciated by the participant faculty members. It was a great learning opportunity.

workshop on Internet of Things (IoT)

Department of I.T. organized one day workshop on “Internet of Things” for the students of MCA & BCA on 18th April, 2018. Mr. Ashish Bhargava, Senior Manager Consulting, UniCoverage Technologies was the speaker of the workshop. 
While welcoming the guest, Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey said that Internet of Things (IoT) is an ecosystem of connected physical objects that are accessible through the internet. The ‘thing’ in IoT could be a person with a heart monitor or an automobile with built-in-sensors, i.e. objects that have been assigned an IP address and have the ability to collect and transfer data over a network without manual assistance or intervention. The embedded technology in the objects helps them to interact with internal states or the external environment, which in turn affects the decisions taken. He said that students always have doubts about the IOT and its applications, these type of workshops help students to upgrade their knowledge about the current technologies and which will definitely help them in their placements. MCA-Chairperson, Prof. Puja Dhar, Coordinator-MCA, Prof. SmitaKansal and other Faculty Members of Department of I.T were also present in this workshop.
While addressing the students, Mr. Ashish said that IoT allows the devices to communicate with each other, access information om the internet, store and retrieve data , and interact with user, creating smart, pervasive and always-connected environments.

The objective of this workshop was to help the students in setting up an IoT Lab and be aware about this new technology. He said that ConnectiFY is a development board which allows to carry many experiments and its advance features allows to take data to the Internet using in-build features of using Ethernet, Bluetooth, XeeBee. 
Mr. Ashish said that the practical teaching system design should base on of cultivating students’ engineering ability and accomplishment, especially, the ability to solve the problem in the Internet of things engineering. Teaching about IOT technologies are closely related to make students ready for industries.
At the end of the session students were given the practical demonstration of various small applications including the basic knowledge about passive electronic components, basic circuit design, Logic family and theory, Serial and parallel interfaces and some basic knowledge about Sensors/ Actuators. 
Mr. Ashish and his team also demonstrated the basic working of microcontrollers, use of general ICs. He said that student should have the basic knowledge of C and Python. 
Students were very happy while attending this Practical based workshop. This was a new learning for the students of MCA and BCA.

Guest Lecture by Mr. V. N. Rai for MBA Students.

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad, organized a guest talk for the students of MBA First Year (Batch 2017-19) on 17th April, 2018 . The topic of the session was ‘Leading Business through a Border less World’. Mr V. N. Rai, Ex- Managing Director KRIBHCO, had an interactive and informative session with the students wherein he touched upon the key aspects which organizations can adopt to lead their businesses in a border less world.

Mr Rai used multiple examples and analogies to demonstrate innovative ways in which a business can keep up with the growing dynamism across the globe. The numerous examples given by Mr Rai as well as his answers to the questions raised by the students, helped in creating a good understanding of the discussion among the students.

The students took active participation in the session and expressed their eagerness to have such sessions in future as well.

Educational Foreign Tour for MBA 16-18 Batch to Thailand

Department of Management, Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized an Educational Foreign Tour to Thailand for MBA 16-18 batch students on merit basis from 11th April, 2018 to 17th April, 2018. Total 19 students were benefited with the institute scholarship scheme. Tour was flagged off on 11th April, 2018, and departed from Delhi to Bangkok.

Students reached Bangkok (Swarnbhoomi Airport) on the early morning on 12th April, 2018 and met local tourist guide Miss Gems, after that they proceeded for Pattaya. Students enjoyed “Water Festival - Songkran 2018” of Pattaya with local people of Thailand. This year, Songkran Festival - Thai New Year started on 13th of April, 2018 to 15th of April, 2018. It was just like our Holi Festival where people play with water and colours.

 

On 12th April, 2018, in evening they enjoyed Alcazar Dance Show at Pattaya, which connect different cultural dimensions through various performances.

On 13th April, 2018 group went to “Coral Island” where they enjoyed adventure activities like Para-sailing, Under Water Diving and Banana Boat Ride. Also they were taken to island where they enjoyed crystal clear green water of South China Sea. They were taken for industrial visit to “Gems Gallery” which is one of the biggest in the world for finishing and retail outlet of precious gems & pearls.
On 14st April, 2018 students checked out from Pattaya and boarded for Bangkok. In Bangkok students visited beautiful Buddha Temple (Golden + Marvel).

On 15st April, 2018 students started their day with Jungle Safari. After that students were taken to “Safari World” where most amazing shows were waiting for them. In safari world they enjoyed “Orang Utan Show, Sea Lion Show, Dolphin Show, Cow Boy Show, Spy War Show and Bird Show”.

On 16th April, 2018 students were taken to “Indra Market” where they shoped for souvenirs of Thailand. Tour ended on 17th April, 2018 when students boarded for Delhi with magnificent memories of Thailand.
