Workshop on NATS for MBA Students.
A workshop on National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS for girls)) was organized by Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad on 19th September 2017 for girls’ students of MBA (16-18 Batch & 17-19 Batch).
Speaker for the workshop was Dr. Namita Shrivastava from Ministry of Skill Development who is also working for DISHA a well known organized NGO. She address with the statement “People will stand for you if you stand for yourself”. She briefed the objective of government behind this scheme:
- To flourish the skills of the women.
- To make women compatible in every field.
- To make women employed and independent.
- To provide women equal opportunities in government sector.
She covered the background of the scheme by briefing National apprenticeship training scheme mainly focused on women, this scheme consists of 248 courses, under which the trainees will go through a session of 6 months training (minimum) to 1 year & The trainees will be paid during the training session. She also demonstrated how students can handle any situation during professional life with two activities:
- Students were asked to focus on their mind and were required to make two different shapes using both hands (a square from right hand and a circle from left hand).
- In second activity, 10 volunteers were called upon and each of them was asked to follow the consecutive member in the same way. The time frame which they took was 1min which was reduced to 45 seconds in next round. At the end she asked students to enroll themselves for the scheme through government portal. The session was very interactive and fruitful which would be very beneficial in the future and will also help students to enhance and flourish their skills.

Workshop on “Web Application Development Using .Net Technology”
A Workshop on “Web Application Development Using .Net Technology ” on 4th -Sept-2017 during 9:30AM to 1:30 PM , organized by I.T.S-DotNet Club in association with CSI-Student Branch at I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad.
Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray and Prof. Rakesh Roshan were the resource persons. Total 46(forty six ) students of MCA final year participated in the workshop. This workshop was focused towards making the students aware & sharpening the skills on ASP.Net , ADO DOT Net ,T-SQL, Writing Stored Procedure ,Writing C# code to use Stored Procedure for better placement in upcomming campus drives. The attendance sheet of students is attached with this report for reference.

Workshop on C Programming by C Club of Department of IT
C Club of Department in Association with CSI Student Branch @ I.T.S conducted a workshop on “C Programming" for MCA Students on 4th August, 2017 from 2.00 PM – 4.30PM in PG Lab-6 of the Institute.
The objective of the workshop was to make students aware of various C Programming tricks & traps and to bridge the gaps for on-going placement process. Prof Rakesh Roshan & Prof Chandra Mani Sharma were the resource persons for the workshop.
The workshop started with a brief description of Ubuntu Linux environment, how to use it for C Program Development and a crisp overview of important commands to make the transition of students smooth from Windows to Linux platform. Subsequently, various problems on functions, pointers, scope rules and efficiency improvement of C code using code restructuring techniques (such as use of bitwise operators instead of arithmetic operators to speed-up execution) were discussed during the workshop.
The participants had a hands-on experience of C programming practice during their tussle of implementing solutions to the problems.
To assess the learning of the participants, a test was conducted at the end of the workshop where they performed satisfactorily well.
The workshop was a great learning experience for all.

I.T.S, Ghaziabad organised FDP on Academic Excellence.
A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Academic Excellence” by Dr. A.K. Mishra, Professor in the area of Finance & Accounting at IIM, Lucknow was held for management faculty at I.T.S Management Learning Centre on Saturday, 15th July, 2017 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Dr. Mishra conducted the FDP with the objective of improving the teaching methods by adopting the case method teaching in the class room. He started his FDP with a case study which was given to the faculty a day earlier with a view that faculty will go through the case and will present their case analysis in the FDP. The case study was about LSI Logic Corp and its growth over a period of time.
All the management faculty both from UG and PG department participated in the discussion. The case analysis and discussion was held from a very diverse view, almost incorporating all the management function.
Dr. Mishra very well demonstrated that how a case needs to be analysed in the class room atmosphere so that actual learning takes place. After concluding the case study analysis he shared his experience and methods that he adopts for teaching IIM students.
He advised faculty members to use plenty of small cases, news paper articles and news items in the class room to increase student’s participation and involvement. He was of the opinion that learning will not take place unless the class is interactive. He shared some of the tips with faculty to make classroom learning effective. He also shared his experience and knowledge about how to write good research papers. .Session ended with vote of thanks.
Session was graced with the benign presence of Dr. A K Puri (DG) and Dr.VidyaSekhri (Director – UG).

Workshop on HTML5, AngularJS and Wordpress for MCA students
To make the students aware about Web Application Development, Web Club @ Department of IT, in association with CSI, Students Branch @ I.T.S, Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad organized a workshop on " HTML5, AngularJS and Wordpress" from 10th - 15th July, 2017 for MCA-V Semester Students.
The resource person of the workshop were Prof. Smita Kansal & Prof. Varun Arora. 32 Students of MCA-V Semester attended the workshop.

FDP Session by Dr. Vijesh Jain on Principles of Sustainable Competitive Advantage.
“A FDP was organised on 29th June, Thursday at I.T.S, Ghaziabad campus". The topic of the FDP was - Principles of 'Sustainable Competitive Advantage'.
The main speaker of the session was Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad. The FDP covered several topics of current interest in strategic management, marketing and governance based on the theme of the topic. The changing role of the business in society in the current context was deliberated and discussed among the participating faculty members who asked several questions to the speaker and which were duly debated. The session was highly interactive and intense in nature. The participant reported that the discussion was very useful for bringing about change in the direction of management concepts being taught in the class and will help update the concepts with the changing business and geopolitical environment across the world.
The FDP covered several new theories propounded by Sir Michael Porter including the theory of Scale, theory of shared value, theory of advantage by cluster approach and other ideas. These ideas are in line with the current changes taking place in businesses. It was argued by the speaker that the perception of entrepreneur about what their business does in the society and perception about the society what a business does are converging for good and so are the goals of the businesses and the governments. It was further argued that government partnership with businesses is must in the current context for the benefit of the business as well as the society. It was also discussed that governments and NGOs have limited resources to carry out welfare job effectively. This gap can be filled by the role of businesses as societal problem solver rather than societal problems creator.

Two days Workshop of IoT(Internet of Things)
Two days workshop on “Internet of Things ” for the MCA students of Institute of Technology & Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad during 14/06/2017 to 15/06/2017 has conducted successfully.
Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray , Prof. Rakesh Roshan and Prof. Smita Kansal from Department of IT were the key resource person for this workshop. Objective of the workshop :
- This workshop must help the students to understand and take better use of the Arduino Uno, components of Arduino Uno, Application of different sensors , Integration of sensors to the Ardunio chip, Program writing ,development and implementation of application using Arduino Chip and different sensors.
- After this workshop students can develop Arduino chip and sensor based aplications. Pre-requisite: Knowledge of C, C++ . Pedagogy:
- Session based on Introduction and application of Arduino chip and sensors is conducted in Lecture cum Discussion mode.
- Rest of the session conducted in Computer Lab by live demonstration of each of the topic. Content of the workshop:
- Fundamentals of Internet of Things , Introduction of different IoT supporting hardware including Microcontrollers chips and Micro Processor chip , Different kinds of sensors like light sensors , Ultrasonic Sensors etc.
- Introduction to Arduino UNO chip and Raspberry pi, Programming in c/c++
- Programming in C++ for LED , Ultrasonic Sensor, Push Buttons ,Light sensors , Temperature and humidity sensors etc
- Demonstration and Hands on based on Ardunio IDE and application of Adrunio chip and sensors based sketch
Total 56 students from MCA final year were participated in this workshop. Students showed their interest to learn this technology and I am sure that participants of this workshop can develop apps by using Arduino IDE and supporting sensors . In-house workshop on “Research Writing and Structural Equation Modeling”.
A half day I.T.S In-house workshop on Research writing and SEM was conducted by Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor, I.T.S on 5th April, 2017.
The workshop was attended by a number of management faculties of I.T.S. The workshop was highly interactive and focused on common problems of manuscript submitted for publication in top journals. The workshop also included training on Structural Equation Modeling with the help of pertinent examples and real life research problems discussed during the deliberations.
The highlight of the workshop was a very useful feedback by Dr. A.K. Puri, Director General, I.T.S, Ghaziabad who took time to attend the entire event and even taking efforts to conduct relevant exercises related to the topic of the workshop. All faculty members who attended the workshop thanked the resource persons for being helpful in sharing their rare skills on the topics of the workshop.
