Workshop on “Dot Net Technology and responsive web page designing”

A Workshop on “Dot Net Technology and Responsive Web Page Designing” on 10th -March-2017 during 9:30AM to 1:30 PM , organized by I.T.S-DotNet Club, Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray, Prof. Chandramani Sharma and Prof. Rakesh Roshan were the resource persons.

Total 58(Fifty Eight ) students of MCA Second year participated in the workshop. This workshop was focused towards making the students aware & sharpening the skills on ADO DOT Net ,T-SQL, Writing Stored Procedure ,Writing C# code to use Stored Procedure , Responsive Web Application Development, Different classes of Bootstrap and application of Bootstrap classes for controls designing and a test of 30 minutes was also conducted at the end of the workshop. The attendance sheet of students is attached with this report for reference.

computer networks workshop

2-days workshop was conducted by Department of IT on the topic “ComputerNetworks: Implementation and Trouble-shooting” on 09-03-2017 for students from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm in Lab-1 of the Institute.

The resource persons for the workshop was Prof. SaureshMehrotra. The following topics were covered during the workshop:

Day-1: 09th March 2017

  • Overview Telecommunications & Data Communications
  • Components of Data Communication System
  • Overview of OSI & TCP/IP Model
  • Types of Networks
  • Types of Communication Mediums including Wires and Wireless
  • EIA/TIA Cabling Standards
  • Overview of Networking Devices
  • Visit to ITS, Mohan Nagar Data Centre/Server Room and overview of the entire Network Setup and Devices

The workshop was very interactive and the participants actively participated in the workshop. Overall, it was a great learning experience for all the participants.

Series of Workshop conducted by Department of IT

Department of I.T.has conducted a series of workshops for the students on different current technologies for making them aware about the new trends which will help them in their future from 14th -24th February 2017.

Technology for the workshops were Java, Data Structure using C, Python, Oracle Database and Implementation, Importance of Mobile Application and Mobile Application Development.

Java Technology

The workshop on Java Technologywas conducted on 14th -15th February 2017” in association with CSI Student Branch. The objective of the workshop on Java technology was to familiarize the students with the Java technology and to make them understand Servlets, JSP and JDBC. Prof. Gaurav Midha and Prof. Varun Arora were the resource person for the 2 days session.

Data Structure Using C

In continuation of this, next two days’ workshop on Data Structure Using C in association with CSI Student Branchwas conducted during 15th-16th February, 2017.The resource persons for the workshop were Prof. Rakesh Roshan & Prof. Chandra Mani Sharma. In the workshop, the programming constructs in C was discussed along with overview of Data Structures and their applications.

Python

Next two days’ workshop was conducted on Pythonin association with CSI Student Branch during 20th-21st February, 2017 for the student. Prof. Rakesh Roshan was the resource persons for this workshop. Introduction to Python, Datatypes, Variables, Strings, Multiple Assignment, List, Tuple, Dictionary, Decision Making, Looping, Functions and Module and File Handling were the contents discussed in the workshop.

Oracle Database and Implementation

Two-day’s workshop on Oracle Database and Implementation in association with CSI Student Branch for the students was conducted on 22nd February to 23rd February, 2017. The objective of this workshop was to make students aware about the basic concepts of Oracle Database and how it will help them in their higher studies and job too.Prof. Puja Dhar and Prof. Saurabh Saxenawere the resource person for this workshop. They discussed about the Oracle History, Overview of Oracle Grid Architecture, Developer Tools, Differentiation between File Processing System and Database Processing System, Database Structure including logical & Physical structure, Security mechanism, Overview of data types, Functions of DBMS, DDL & DML statements.

Importance of Mobile Application &Mobile Application Development

Five days’ workshop on Importance of Mobile Application and Mobile Application Development under DST sponsored Women Entrepreneurship Development Program" for the girl students with Science & Technology during 20/02/2017 to 24/02/2017 has been conducted successfully. Prof. Puja Dhar, Dr. Umang, Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray and Prof. Rakesh Roshan were the key resource person for this workshop. Prof. Puja Dhar and Dr. Umang discussed about the importance of mobile application in the today’s scenario and also the security issues and challenges in the usage of mobile application for the women. Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray and Prof. Rakesh Roshan discussed about the architecture of android mobile application development and also encouraged to develop some sample applications on android using different features.

Overall it was an interactive and new learning sessions for the students.Students found the workshop very informative and helpful for their career.

Workshop on Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning.

On 10th February, 2017(11:am-1:10pm) C Club of Department of IT in association with CSI Student Branch @ I.T.S Ghaziabad conducted a workshop on Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning for MCA 4th Semester students.

The resource person for the workshop was Prof. C M Sharma. Total 62 students of MCA 4th Semester participated in the workshop. The objective of this workshop was to prepare students for upcoming placements on Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning. The recruiters coming for recruiting MCA students have the questions on the topics in their written round. Prof. Sharma started the workshop with the importance of Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning in placement process. He then discussed problems and important formulas on Ages, Average, Boats & Streams, Time & Distance, Mixture, Proportions, Pipers & Cisterns, Series etc. Prof. Sharma also told the students various shortcut methods to solve problems and gave many useful tips to improve accuracy and speed. The workshop was a helpful exercise for the students.

Management Department organized FDP on Entrepreneurship Development.

The success of an education institution is dependent on its ability to transform student’s life.

The key element in this process is the faculty. Understanding faculty’s role as a catalyst within a structured academic system is one of the most important pre- requisite for creating a great learning organization. Keeping this in focus Institute of Technology & Science, Ghaziabad organised a Faculty Development Programmes on “Entrepreneurship” from 16th to 27th January, 2017. Twenty three Participants from ITS & other institutes of Delhi NCR participated in FDP.

The program was inaugurated by Shri Venugopal Gupta, Head- incubation & venture accelerator centre. In his inaugural address Shri Venugopal Gupta highlighted the importance of entrepreneurial culture in an education institute, he talked about various aspects of entrepreneurship & several hardships which are associated with entrepreneurship. Dr. A.K. Puri, Director General, I.T.S Mohan Nagar presented overview of the program. Dr. S.P. Mishra, Advisor, I.T.S- The Education Group, with sensitization of participants towards Entrepreneurship FDP & its importance in today’s Scenario. Post Lunch Session was addressed by Dr. Rita Sen Gupta Ex-Director (B/S) - NIESBUD, she gave an overview of Entrepreneurial Qualities & Motivation Development.

Second & Third day was chaired by Dr. Rita Sen Gupta continued the session with exercise on entrepreneurial qualities, continuous exercises were done to collect data of participants on entrepreneurial qualities, so that participants can be motivated to become entrepreneur. Post lunch was on motivation development, to motivate faculty for promoting entrepreneurship in students.

Dr. Govind Sharma, an IPR expert from New Delhi was the keynote speaker for first session of Day Four. He discussed the relevance of IPR for entrepreneurs, especially technical entrepreneurs. How in present day scenario IPR plays an important role in building brand & he also shared various examples where copying of technology & patents were penalized in international courts. Post Lunch session was chaired by Mr. C.K. Sabharwal, MD Crop Health products Ltd. discussed how to sense business opportunity & identify a product & market for new product. New innovations & ways to identify new product was discussed.

Friday, 20th January, 2017 Day -5 was dedicated to financing options for entrepreneurs; First Session was addressed by Mr. Sunil Joshi, Expert & Prof. Sharda University, shared his expertise on different financing options for entrepreneurs. Traditional approach to seed funding & present day ease in getting seed funds, which made entrepreneurship a comparatively easy option. Role of different institutions & what are Do’s & Don’t for project report, from the point of view of financial institutes was discussed. Second session was chaired by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Expert incubation- MSME, session was enlightening, various government incentives were disused, several new government schemes information was shared, Incubation centre requirements & how to set up incubation centre was shared, information about incubation in nearby areas. How MSME is helping in promoting entrepreneurship was discussed & in what ways we can help budding entrepreneurs in taking advantage of these schemes of government.

Saturday, 21st January, 2017 was dedicated for entrepreneurial competencies tools, techniques & Guidance, session was chaired by Dr. V.N. Bajpai, Associate Professor, I.T.S Mohan Nagar. Session begin with different innovations & new business ventures. Participants undertook a small exercise on Refrigeration industry; small groups were formed & analyzed various features in refrigerators, then groups were required to design a new product for refrigeration industry. Groups presented their products, marketing strategies were developed. Small competition took place. A unique type of refrigerator ‘Chotu Cool’ example of shared with audience.

Day-7 i.e. 23rd January, 2017, Group visited Mother Dairy Plant, Parparganj, Delhi. Participants interacted with concerned person & facilities were visited. Complete process from procurement to processing till final delivery was elaborated. Several quality checks implemented at different stages during the process were told. Visit gave a holistic view of enterprise management to participants.

Day-8 i.e. 24th January, 2017, Key note speaker for first session was Dr. A.K.Puri, Directr General, I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, session focuses on ‘Critical issues in Entrepreneurship development & growth’ Dr. Puri shared his expertise on creating entrepreneurial culture & what are the major challenges faced during this & how we as faculty can promote this culture in our organization & promote more students to take entrepreneurship as a career option. He explained the importance of entrepreneurial growth & role of a mentor. Second Session of the day was chaired by Mr. C.K. Sabharwal, MD, Crop- Health Product, addressed the need & importance of financial management in managing an enterprise, session was interactive & participants learned that not only raising of funds is important but how to effectively manage long term & day to day finances of venture.

On Day -9, i.e. 25th January, 2017, Mr. Girish Shivani, Director at yournest Angel Fund, a renowned name in Venture capital Industry of INDIA, enlightened the members about how do venture capitalist evaluates & appraises entrepreneurial venture. Role of Venture capitalist in promoting & how new entrepreneurs can leverage venture capital. Second session was chaired by Dr. Lokendra Tyagi, Expert, Personal management in Entrepreneurial Venture, explained the Need & importance of personnel management in managing an enterprise, during the session various interpersonal aspects were illustrated, that an entrepreneur shall take care. How to identify a right employee, what is expected from entrepreneur & employees especially in startups was discussed followed by a role play.

On Day -10 first session was addressed by Dr. S.P. Mishra on ‘Curriculum Planning and its presentation’, as the faculties are well equipped with knowledge this session explained different ways through which they can transfer their learning of FDP to their students & promote more entrepreneurs. Chief guest for valedictory session was Dr. Usha Dixit, Scientist "C", National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), addressed the gathering & shared various live examples which flourished under the aegis of NSTEDB, followed by certificate distribution.

22 faculty members from ITS Ghaziabad and Various other institutes took part in FDP. Fun filled knowledge rich and self exploring journey left faculty members with a new orientation about themselves & Entrepreneurship.

Workshop on “Framework for Mobile Applications”

Department of I.T. organized a workshop on “Framework for Mobile Applications” on Saturday, 21st January 2017 for MCA-IV Semester Students.

Mr. Peeyush Goyal, Technical Architect, Tata Consultancy Services, Noida & MCA Alumni 2004 batch pass out was the resource person for this session.The objective of this workshop was to make students aware about the Framework requirements for developing Mobile Apps.

While delivering his welcome address, Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey said that we are privileged to have good support of our MCA Alumni and they are always ready to guide their juniors. He suggested the students to emphasize on the fundaments and basics of whatever they study and should be connected with the corporate.

Chairperson-MCA, Prof. Puja Dhar said that this is one of the proud moments for her to share the dias and listen her student as a speaker of the session. She advised all the students to clear their doubts regarding the career opportunities in the area of Mobile App development

While addressing the students, he discussed about the various topics like:

  • Three Approaches of Technical Architecture
  • Difference between Native Client, Web Client and Hybrid Client
  • iOS-Native App Development
  • Android –Native App Development
  • Windows Phone – Native App Development

He also explained the detail Device Client Architecture of Native Client. He also discussed about the Mobile Middleware Architecture and Pros and Cons of each type of client. While addressing he also throw some light on Mobile Web Architecture. He also shared a video showing the usage of Technology in 2020 and also advised students to update their skills.

Overall it was an interactive and new learning session for students.

A Faculty Interaction by MCA Alumni Mr. Ashish Bhatia(1998-2001), UI Architect, Cognizant, Austin, Texas, USA was organized on 16.12.2016 at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad.

Before starting of the session, Mr. Ashish Bhatia was warmly welcomed by Dr Sunil Kr Pandey Director-IT by presented him a bouquet. In this session, Mr. Ashish Bhatia delivered talk on “UI Technologies and AngularJS”. He has discussed about AngularJS and also focused on NodeJS, ReactJS, Web Services and Agile Methodologies. The objective of this programme is in series of efforts to create a platform for faculty members to meet, listen & interact with the visionaries and experts who have contributed immensely in the domain of computer science & IT. Dr Sunil Kr. Pandey, Director-IT, I.T.S Ghaziabad delivered vote of thanks to Mr. Ashish. Mr. Ashish Bhatia also interacted with faculties and answered the queries raised during the session. It was a wonderful experience to have MCA Alumni Mr. Ashish Bhatia at the Institute (I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad) after about 15 Years and visit the infrastructure and facilities. During the interaction he shared his experience in the Industry and developments trends. He was overwhelmed and happy to see the growth of the Institute. This was a completely interactive & knowledge enriching session.
