Dr. Anusha Agarwal & Dr. Shuchita Singh attended Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Annual Session 2017 “Future of Globalisation : Can India lead?” on 28 - 29 April 2017 : Hotel Taj Palace, Sardar Patel Marg, New Delhi
Day – 1
Inaugural Session of CII Annual Meet started with the speech of Mr Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Defense, Government of India, as Chief Guest.
Next talk was based on Transformational Journey - the Madhya Pradesh Story. The session was Chaired by Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice President, Confederation of Indian Industry in conversation, with Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Chauhan mentioned the improved irrigation system, river linking system, reduced cost and increased productivity in agriculture. Development of affordable housing, scholarship schemes, government backed education loan, development of state tourism were also mentioned by him.
The session was followed by the session on Smart Railways: The New Vision, which focused on Indian Railways which has initiated a wide-ranging reforms agenda with a spend of Rs.8.5 lakh crore, administrative restructuring, high-speed rail and overseas investments in railway manufacturing. Moderator of this session was Mr Siddharth Zarabi, Executive Editor, BTVI. Mr Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways, Government of India.
Next session on Financial Markets & Corporate Governance was based on need of well-functioning of financial markets and good corporate governance as pillars of economic growth. The roadmap to further strengthen financial markets and corporate governance was discussed with the moderation of Mr. Leo Puri, Managing Director, UTI Asset Management Company Limited, Mr. Ajay Tyagi, Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). This session was followed by the session Building the Indian Company of the future, which was based on how India’s entrepreneurs are leading its growth and deepening its overseas footprint. The innovative and responsible approach in the changing world. Mr. Ashok Soota, Executive Chairman, Happiest Minds Technologies Private Limited and Mr. Baba N Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge Ltd participated in the session.
Post lunch session on Is India’s Civil Aviation Geared for India’s Aspirations, was based on Is India is slated to be the fastest growing aviation market in the world, and has the outline and comprehensive agenda to drive growth through fast and cheap regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme, feasible and viable. The session Moderator was Ms. Shereen Bhan, Managing Editor, CNBC, Mr. Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India and Mr Phee Teik Yeoh, Chief Executive Officer, TATA SIA Airlines Limited. Minister promised to develop more airports for better regional connectivity, cost effectiveness of airlines as well.
Redefining CSR in a Global Economy, was the theme of next session. In which the concept of corporate social responsibility, which is mandated for certain Indian companies. India on the road to redefining CSR for the world was also discussed by Mr. T V Narendran, Managing Director, TATA Steel Limited with Prof. Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee, International Professor of Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
India’s Meta-Challenges and Solutions was the theme of next session, which explored India’s meta economic challenges ,changing societal ideas, developing shared narratives and evolving solutions with larger buy-in from stakeholders. Cooperative and competitive federalism was also identified as a necessity for a diverse country like India. Moderator of this session was Ms. Supriya Shrinate, Chief Editor (News and Policy), ET Now, Dr. Arvind Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Government of India and Mr. Vinayak Chatterjee, Chairman, Feedback Infra Private Limited.
Changing Landscape of Urban Spaces, focusing on Fundamental shifts in transforming Indian cities, frameworks and proposed outcomes of urbanization, ambitious rejuvenation programs by Government and other emerging themes for debate were – Ensuring sustainable & inclusive urbanization; undertaking long overdue urban reforms; and institutionalizing citizen engagement. Session Moderator was Mr. Vikram Chandra, Consulting Editor and Anchor, NDTV 24X7, Dr. Kiran Karnik, Director - Central Board of Directors, Reserve Bank of India and President - Governing Council, India Habitat Centre, Mr. Sunil Mathur, Managing Director & CEO, Siemens Limited and Prof. Anne Feenstra, Dean - Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University were part of the session.
Session on Forces of Change in Post Crisis World discussed the lingering impact of the Global Financial Crisis which is still being felt in economies across the world. To deal with the same economies must additionally contend with technology advance also the drivers of the new global economy were also discussed. The session was chaired by Dr. Naushad Forbes, President, Confederation of Indian Industry and Dr. Arvind Panagariya, Vice Chairman, National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), Government of India and Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Enterprises participated.
In last two sessions for the day, Is India Inc Future ready: Jobs & Technology and Future of Manufacturing was discussed by eminent speakers.
Day – 2
The session was based on the theme of Executive, Legislature & Judiciary: Tripod of Effective Governance. Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman, Hero Corporate Services Limited chaired the session. Mr. N.K Singh, Former Member of Parliament and Mr. Fali Nariman, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Panelist had a brain storming session and shared their concerns on appointment of judges, much involvement of governance than government in passing the legislature, giving more powers to CAG, passing structured reforms in parliament in speedy manner and to give a relook to complete sovereign.
In the very interesting session on Politics for an India leading the World Is India’s noisy democracy a global paradigm?, Ms. Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Mr. D Raja, Member of Parliament, Communist Part of India, Mr. Deepender Singh Hooda, Member of Parliament, Indian National Congress (INC) and Mr. Sambit Patel, Spokesperson BJP, participated in the dabate and mentioned the need of a vocal and expressive democracy, in which all different parties should work as a group for the development of nation. Need of Social, Economic and Political justice and following a humanitarian approach towards citizens of India is also need for the development of all classes of society in India.
Post lunch session was based on the theme of New Age Entrepreneurship and Emerging Markets. This session was chaired by Mr. Uday Kotak, Executive Vice, Chairman & Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Private Limited in conversation, with Prof. Tarun Khanna, Jorge Paulo Lemann Professor, Harvard Business School. Prof. Khanna mentioned key points for entrepreneurial concern, mainly as establishment of Indian brands globally, Intellectual Property Rights, evolving digital ecosystem and availability of venture capitalist. He also raised the need of change in the existing education system in India. Two major challenges for developing India are creation of jobs and development of Incubation centers.
Next session was on Future of Globalisation: Can India lead: Media Leaders Perspective. In this session, the role of media as a source of information and opinion, a watchdog, and a connector was discussed. Need of open and articulate media, its capacity to reengineer the forces of globalization was discussed by Mr. T N Ninan, Chairman and Editorial Director, Business Standard, Mr. Karan Thapar, Author & Columnist and Mr. Shekhar Gupta, Former Vice Chairman of the India Today Group.
Valedictory Session was graced by the presence of Mr. Anand Sharma, Deputy Leader of Congress Parliamentary Party (RS).

From April 13th, 2017 to April 17th, 2017, a F.D.P on Structural equation modeling (SEM) was organized at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra Ranchi(Noida Campus).
This F.D.P was devised to create a platform for discussion on the problem that a researcher may face during the application of Structural equation modeling (SEM). The F.D.P had also allowed the participants to discuss the current and contemporary issues with senior research community and academicians from different states of the country. The F.D.P was delivered by Dr. Neeraj Kaushik , who is one of the very known authority on different methods of Structural equation modeling (SEM).

Dr Anusha Agarwal had the honour of delivering the Key Note Address on “Innovation in Banking Sector in India” & Chairing a Session in the International Conference on “Sustainable Growth, Innovation & Revolution in the New Millennium” during March 25-26, 2017.
The Conference was organized by Research Development Association in collaboration with Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce & Industry and In association with Jaipur Management Association.
Session was related to Research Paper and Case study competition.
The Conference had witnessed the participation of leading researchers from renowned universities and institutions all over the country who had shared their valuable research during the conference. 20 Research papers & Case Studies were presented by Research Scholars, & Faculty members in the track on “Sustainability, Innovation & Revolution in Accounting, Banking & Finance”. Best paper was awarded in each track.

Strategies for a Data Economy were also discussed.
Day 2 began with an interesting theme -India in Asia: Is Soft Power Enough? A session “Plucking the Right Strings: Leading through Music “which kept the focus on whether business leaders can learn a lot about leadership from music and improve their performance by infusing elements of music in their thinking.
Eminent speakers, interesting & thoughtful discussions interspersed with relevant facts and deep debate on future of India across multiple dimensions made this summit a highly learning oriented & useful summit for all delegates.

Dr. Anita Mathew participated as a panelist in the event held on 18th March 2017 on "Women Leaders: Sharing Success Stories" organized by Jaipuria Business School, Indirapuram for women entrepreneurs and leaders,The highlight of the session was the address by Mr.Amit Mishra, Govt. Startup Advsor, TEDx Speaker, Startup TV Evangelist (https://www.linkedin.com/in/amitkmishra/).
He spoke about the 4ps of marketing in promoting own ventures through online medium and each participant had to pitch in for themselves to create an impression within 30 seconds (SPOT HAT). I got chance to speak on the linkage between "Person and Passion" as an innate quality to be successful leader.
The session had audience including HR consultants, NGOs, entrepreneurs and women leaders from organizations like Dell, IBM, Cipla and many more.

Dr. Rajeev Johari attended a two day illuminating annual conference of the Indian Association of Research on National Income and Wealth, IARNIW a registered society funded by the Ministry of Statistics & Program Implementation, Govt. of India & RBI at The Theme Hotel, Jaipur during 16-17 March, 2017.
The conference was based on the following themes
- National Accounts
- Indian economy & Data Base
- Regional Accounts
- Social Sector
Each theme had eminent discussants engaged in observation, commentary, evaluation and suggestion. Each session was chaired by distinguished subject and area experts from Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Reserve Bank of India and senior academia from various universities. Each paper was discussed for about 40- 60 minutes. Most of the paper presenters were specialists and macroeconomic research analysts in CSO, NSSO, RBI, NCAER, IHD, IIPA based in every corner of India. The main purpose of the conference was to compile and collate information regarding National Income and Wealth for government record as in economic surveys and dissemination of the same. The topic of research paper was “Social Sector Accounting – A SWOT Analysis”. It was a learning experience for him as very senior experts present for the session threw tremendous light on new concepts pertaining to the subject deepening his understanding of the topic and his paper was reviewed to the fullest unlike previous conference presentations which are restricted to simple and brief question answer session.

Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor, ITS, Ghaziabad presented a paper titled - "Investigating the Real Benefits in terms of Work Life balance of Self Initiated Expatriation by Skilled Expatriates from India", at International Conference “Impact of Emerging Trends in Entrepreneurship: Focus on Digital India, Start up India Stand up India Initiative” on 7-8 March, 2017, at Amity University, Noida.
The paper was well received by the session chair and audience. Apart from the paper presentation, Dr. Vijesh Jain also chaired one technical session at the conference and was one of the panel members of the panel discussion on the main theme of the conference.
A number of academics and scholars from national and international universities and educational institutes attended this 2 day conference. A number of students from other universities also presented their stories about their entrepreneurial ventures and discussed the success and failures of their projects. Some of these projects were very promising projects and got the attention of banks and other investors at the conference itself.
