Faculty Members from Department of IT Attended Workshop on IOT and Connected Hardware at Delhi

Three faculty members from the Department of IT including Prof. Abhay Ray, Prof. Rakesh Roshan and Prof. Smita Kansal attended three days workshop on “IOT and Connected Hardware ” at Mlabs , Janakpuri New Delhi during 14th –Jan -2017 to 16th -Jan-2017.

This workshop was conducted at Mlabs , Jankpuri New Delhi with support of Bit by Bit and Funstore , New Delhi , This workshop used hardware and sensors of Bit by Bit and used the services of Funstore for program writing.

The Instructor of this workshop was Dr. Gaurav Gandhi , Founder of MLabs. He had his complete team to support and guide us at any point of time in this workshop. This workshop was very interactive and demonstration based which covered the following topics as given below.

Day -1

  • Fundamentals of Internet of Things
  • Introduction of different IOT supporting hardware including Microcontrollers chips, Different kinds of sensors like light sensors , Ultrasonic Sensors etc.
  • Introduction to Arduino Nano chip and his programming in c++ and Java Script.
  • Programming in Java Script and C++ for ,Push Buttons , Rotary angular sensors ,Light sensors , Ultrasonic Sensor, Temperature and humidity sensors etc
  • Demonstration of combination of more than two Sensors on Arduino Nano chip

Day -2

  • Fundamentals of Arduino Uno Chip and its advantages over Arduino Nano chip
  • Introduction of different IOT supporting sensors for Arduino Uno Chip
  • Introduction to Arduino Uno chip and his programming in c++ and Java Script.
  • Programming in Java Script and C++ for ,Push Buttons , Rotary angular sensors ,Light sensors , Ultrasonic Sensor, Temperature and humidity sensors etc
  • Demonstration of combination of more than two Sensors on Arduino Uno chip
  • Fundamentals of Raspberry Pi Chip and its working

Day -3

  • Introduction of different IOT supporting sensors for of Raspberry Pi Chip
  • Basic commands of Raspberry Pi Chip
  • Programming in Python for Raspberry Pi
  • Programming in Python for Raspberry Pi chip using sensors like Push Buttons , Rotary angular sensors ,Light sensors , Ultrasonic Sensor, Temperature and humidity sensors etc.
  • Demonstration of combination of more than two Sensors on Arduino Uno chip
  • Programming in Python to store the device or sensor data on web using Dweet and Datadrop web services.
  • Running analytics on stored data Dweet and Datadrop services.

This workshop was fully demonstration based and gave us the fair idea about the IOT sensors and their integration through C++, JavaScript and Python programming. It was really a nice learning experience and full of learning.

Digiwise- A Digital Seminar by Google and HT Campus”

A digital marketing seminar co-hosted by Google and HT Campus was attended by Director General, Dr. A.K. Puri; Director IT, Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey and Prof. K.P. Singh on 12th January, 2017 at Hotel The Lalit, Connaught Place, New Delhi.

The theme of the digital marketing seminar was on Driving ROI through Performance Based Marketing.

The broad agenda of the seminar was as below:

  • Basics of Digital Marketing for Education Institutes
  • Using Online Medium to Maximize Reach of your institute amongst students
  • Decoding Terms like – SEM, SEO, GDN, Leads, Branding, YouTube, etc. – What do they mean. And how much should you pay ?
  • Formulating and maximizing online marketing plans
  • How to efficiently track your Digital Media spends
  • Understanding the Best Practices through case study discussions

There were two sessions of the event. In first session the speaker from the Google, Ms. Meenakshi Singh enlightened the importance of Digital Marketing for the educational institutions in current era. Ms. Singh started here presentation with a voice search feature of the Google i.e OK Google which is very powerful search tool by voice and widely used by all segments of the users. Then she discussed on growing trends of users from desktop to mobile world. There is significant growth of users who either switched or switching to mobile from desktop searching for their day to day usage. She also focused on RSLA-Remarketing Lists of Search Ads, Google Ad words, Google Data, Bidding Up, Page load index, etc. The conclusion of this session was that as an educational institute, it should put more focus on mobile users for targeted aspirants for business point of view.

The second session was hosted by Mr. Dwij Seth from HT Campus. Mr. Seth focused on importance HT campus collaboration with Google for benefits of digital marketing to users. He demonstrated the new enhanced portal of HT Campus with so many new features with better look and feel. Mr. Bhuwan from HT Campus supported during session of Mr. Dwij. The HT Campus team discussed on various types of digital marketing and it importance. The HT Campus team talked about the complete life cycle of digital marketing that how an educational institute each to its intended users, how users cloud be engaged for more time on the websites, and finally how these leads can be converted to the desired results. The second session was concluded by Mr. Ajay Arora from HT Campus with some facts and figures and case studies of digital marketing.

Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey, Director (IT) was invited as a Key Note Speaker at DPS Ghaziabad

Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey, Director (IT) was invited as a Speaker in its IT Week celebrations organized by DPS Ghaziabad on Sunday, 26th December, 2016.

In the beginning of the Session Head Mistress of DPS Ghaziabad welcomed Dr. Pandey. In his address, Dr. Pandey spoke on Current Technological Trends to make students aware as how Information Technology is helping the organizing, individual and societal development. Dr. Pandey also explained the security concerns that everyone needs to understand and follow to ensure that they use the technology, applications, specifically the Social Media Applications like Facebook which are very popular among the young kids.

Earlier the Head Mistress of DPS Ghaziabad and Coordinator of the event Ms. Shweta Pathak welcomed and felicitated him.

Prof. Alok Singh participated and presented a research paper at ABV-IIITM Gwalior.

On December 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2016, XXth Annual International conference of Society of Operations Management was organized at Atal Bihari Bajpai- Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior.

The conference saw a great gathering of wonderfully acclaimed speakers throughout the world. This conference was devised to create a platform for discussion on the current and contemporary issues on Supply Chain Management, E- Business, Process Excellence, Optimization and Operations Management. The conference had also allowed the participants to discuss current and pressing issues with senior level executives and academicians from different countries.

On the behalf of I.T.S- Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad; Prof. Alok Singh has participated among the elite galaxy of eminent scholars and presented his research paper titled “An Empirical Framework for Supply Chain Performance Evaluation of Perishable Products in India”. More than 100 quality research papers across the world were submitted by different area experts in their different domain of expertise. The conference was inaugurated with benign presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Sankar (IIT Delhi), Prof. (Dr.) M. K. Tiwari (IIT Kharagpur) and Prof. S.G. Deshmukh (Director- ABV IIITM Gwalior).

This three day international conference was organized by Society of Operations Management at ABV-IIITM Gwalior Campus.

Prof. Shikha & Prof. Neetu attended workshop on “Research Methodology” at Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi.

Prof. Shikha Arora and Prof. Neetu Purohit attended 5 day workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ organized by Delhi Technological University at its Campus on Bawana Road, Delhi from 14th to 18th December 2016.

The workshop was organized with the objective to equip the research scholars with the necessary skills to carry out research effectively in the various disciplines so as to produce high quality of articles, research papers, thesis and books. The workshop was designed to offer not only the conceptual basis and theory for research but also the qualitative and quantitative research methods, also covering the data analysis packages useful in research. There were 109 registrations for the participants across various disciplines in areas such as engineering, medical and management.

On day one the workshop commenced with registration and formal inaugural function with welcome address by Dr. Rajan Yadav, Head Delhi School of Mangement, Delhi Technological University and Presidential Address by Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor Delhi Technological University. The Chief Guest for the session was Prof. Shyam B. Menon, Vice Chancellor, Ambedkar University. Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. G.C. Maheshwari, Delhi School of Management, DTU. Thereafter there was session by Prof. G.C. Maheshwari on Introduction to ‘Research and Research Ethics’, then a session on Art of Research Paper Writing & Literature Review by Prof. S.K. Garg, Pro-VC, DTU and the last session for the day was by Prof. Anil Singh on ‘Research Design’. Day 2 sessions were on ‘Scale Construction-Questionnaire Design, Reliability and Validity Analysis’ by Dr. V.P. Singh, Associate Professor, NCERT; ‘Techniques of Data Collection’ by Dr. Shikha N. Khera, DSM-DTU; Factor Analysis by Dr. A.R. Rao, Principal Scientist, IASRI. Day 3 sessions were on Sampling-Types, Size, Techniques by Dr. Rajan Yadav, DSM, DTU; Hypothesis Formulation & Testing by Prof. P.K. Suri, DSM, DTU, Differences of Means, Anova, Chi Square, Regression and Correlation by Prof. P.K. Suri, DSM, DTU. Day 4 sessions were on Theoretical Framework for Research by Prof. Sushil, IIT Delhi and Structural Equation Modelling by Prof. H.K. Dangi, Associate Professor, FMS, DU. Day 5 also continued with Structural Equation Modelling and hands on session on AMOS and Smart PLS softwares. Thereafter Valedictory Session was held wherein the brief of all the sessions was provided by Dr. Shikha N. Khera, DSM, DTU, thereafter there was address by Chief Guest by Prof. Anil K. Tyagi, Vice Chancellor, IP University and address by Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor DTU and Vote of Thanks by Prof. G.C. Maheswari, DSM, DTU followed by brief feedback session from the participants and finally giving certificates to the participants.

Dr. Vijesh Jain presented research at GIBS – New Delhi

Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad presented a research paper titled - Comfort with Foreign Cultures (CFC) – Tendering Sixth Dimension to Hofstede’s Cross Cultural Framework at 7th Comit 2016, INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL INFORMATION AND BUSINESS STRATEGIES, held at Gitarattan International Business School – New Delhi, between 16th Dec to 17th Dec, 2016.

The paper was authored by Prof. Vijesh Jain.

The conference is part of a series of similar conferences held at GIBS on an annual basis. The theme of the 7th conference was – Global Information and Business Strategies. A number of research scholars and academicians participated in the conference and presented their papers. The highlight of the conference was the keynote address during the inaugural of the conference by Prof. S.P. Mishra, who discussed about changing environment of Human Resources Management domain.

Dr. Vijesh Jain presented research paper at IIM – Ahmedabad.

Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad presented a research paper titled - Nature, variations and preferences in ‘level of comfort’ among employees with different national background at 4th Pan IIM World Management Conference, held at IIM – Ahmedabad, New campus between 12th Dec to 15th Dec, 2016.

The paper was authored by Prof. Vijesh Jain along with the second author Dr. Susana Costa e Silva, from Catholic University of Porto, Portugal. In addition to the paper presentation Prof. Vijesh Jain also participated in 2 pre conference workshops on – Research writing and SEM.

The conference is part of a series of PAN IIM World Management Conferences and was 4th in this series. The next conference will be held at IIM – Lucknow. The theme of the 4th conference was – India – towards better governance. A total of 125 research papers from across the world were selected for presentation at the conference. Several parallel track of paper presentations were held at the conference. The highlight of the conference was the keynote address during the inaugural of the conference by by Prof. Peter Ronald deSouza, of Center for the study of Developing Societies along with Director, IIM A, Prof. Ashish Nanda, followed by a panel discussion by 16 directors of different IIMs in India. Several foreign professors, researchers and industry persons attended the world conference.

Management faculty members attended one day seminar on “Inter-linkages between exports and employment” organized by EXIM Bank of India, Mumbai.

Prof. Vijesh Jain, Prof. Shuchita Singh and Prof. Parul Gupta attended an important seminar in Delhi on 5th Dec, 2016 at New Delhi. The seminar was organized by EXIM Bank of India, Mumbai.

Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), in its endeavour to promote and facilitate India’s trade and investment, periodically brings out research publications focusing on various countries, regions, and industries as also macroeconomic issues of relevance to international trade. With the increasing significance of the role of exports in supporting employment, Exim Bank felt the need for undertaking a Study to map the inter-linkages between exports and employment. Such kind of analysis has been conducted by institutions in other countries, such as the US Department of Commerce (for USA), and the European Commission (for Europe). A Study titled “Inter-linkages between Exports and Employment in India”, has recently been completed by Exim Bank. Exim Bank conducted the Seminar based on the theme of the Study, during which the findings of the Study was presented.

The Seminar was held at Magnolia Hall, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
