Dr. Vijesh Jain & Dr. V. N. Bajpai conducted FDP at KIHEAT, Delhi.

Prof. Vijesh Jain, Associate Professor at I.T.S, Ghaziabad, conducted a technical session cum faculty development lecture as invited speaker at Kamal Institute of Higher Education and Advance Studies, Delhi (Affiliated to I.P. University, Delhi), as part of a National Seminar cum FDP on "International Business and Strategic Management", held at the college campus on 15th March, 2016.

It was also a pleasure for Prof. Vijesh Jain to be welcomed at Institute campus, as chief guest and keynote speaker for the inaugural ceremony of the National Seminar. Faculty and selected students of several IP university affiliated colleges attended the inaugural ceremony followed by a half day technical session cum “faculty development lecture” by him on the topic "Current Geopolitical Environment for Business".

Later in the day, there was another half day technical cum faculty development lecture by Prof. V.N. Bajpai, Professor of Marketing at I.T.S. The topic of the lecture was – Blue Ocean Strategies. The lecture was conducted in an interactive manner with a process focusing on experiential learning. The program was also attended by a number of faculties from Kamal Institute as well as other colleges affiliated to I.P. University, Delhi.

Prof. Anuja Roy attended workshop on “Brand Consumption & Culture” at ICC, New Delhi.

Prof. Anuja Roy attended a half a day workshop on “Brand Consumption & Culture” on March 6, 2015 at India International Centre, Max Mueller Road, New Delhi.

Researchers have been working hard on the Brand, Consumption & Culture aspects of the products consumers consume. The landscape of branding is not limited to the name Logo, or even the image, but has far extended within the fibers of each singular aspect of Brand identity. Due to the various traditions and social aspects of culture, the field of marketing is expanding now towards culture where consumption is considered as a social & cultural activity, and it is no more a linear function. The cultural paradigm holds of vital importance to understand the Brand Consumption Culture.

The workshop was organized by Ms Arbuda Sharma. Arbuda is a researcher and consultant in the area of Brand Consumption Culture, at XLRI Jamshedpur. Presently attempting to develop a framework of Brand Consumption Culture. The workshop focussed on the impact of culture on branding. The session explored various case studies on Kellog’s in India, MTV in India, Citibank. Further, topics such as input elements comprising of brand identity, brand persona, brand communication, Hofstede’s cultural dimensions were discussed.

The workshop witnessed participation from Industry and Academicia. It has been a platform to share experiences on the topic.

The conclave was organized by All India Management Association (AIMA). This two day conclave was divided into multiple sessions which covered different dimensions related to the idea of making India a creative superpower.

Session 1 on Budgeting for Growth: Balancing Discipline and Stimulus

Management faculty & students attended seminar on ‘Preparing Today’s Management Accountants for Tomorrow’s Challenges’ at Hotel Lalit, Connaught Place, New Delhi.

PGDM (2015-17) Batch students Ashi Sharma, Santosh Yadav, Abhishek Chaudhry and Ravinandan Kumar along with faculty members Dr. Anusha Agarwal and Prof. Neetu Purohit attended the Seminar on ‘Preparing Management Accountants for Tomorrow’s Challenges’ at Hotel Lalit, Connaught Place, New Delhi on 22nd February 2016.

The Seminar was jointly organized by IMA The Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business based in US, Wiley and Miles Education. The speaker for the session was Mr. Gary Cokins, an internationally recognized speaker and author in performance improvement systems and advanced cost management. Gary, a Cornell and Northwestern University Kellogg MBA, has been a CFO and consultant with Deloitte, KPMG, EDS, and SAS. The speaker discussed on the topic ‘Activity Based Costing’ detailing about how to manage the performance of an enterprise by adopting various techniques such as Analytical Based Techniques, Key Performance Indicators and applying Business Intelligence. He also elaborated on performance management of enterprise, risk management, strategy formulation and operational management accounting. He also highlighted the significance of more rapid decision making, customer value management, integration of departments and executive frustration with strategy failure. He also discussed the need of business analytics in today’s era which provides cost leadership, differentiation and focus strategy. He also briefed about Six Sigma, Lean Management and Value Stream Management.

Later the audience was briefed about Certified Management Accountant course which is a certificate course conducted by IMA (US) in partnership with Miles Education which is the official training partner and Wiley which is the official publisher for the course. The audience showed a keen interest not only in the topics covered but also in the course and raised several queries which were duly addressed by the speakers. The students and the faculty found the session a great learning experience.

MBA students participated in National Seminar On “Emerging Young India- Economic Issues, Initiatives & Challenges”.

Students of ITS, Ghaziabad attended the National Seminar on “Emerging Young India- Economic Issues, Initiatives & Challenges” organized by HRIT Group of Institutions on 20.02.2016.

The Chief Guest for the seminar was Shri Neeraj Singh, an eminent Social & Political Leader and Shri Anuj Sahai, Product Specialist in Axis Bank.The objective of this seminar was to elucidate the initiative that government has taken for empowering India.

India has fundamentally altered its development strategy and the economy of India is marked as the seventh-largest in the world by nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity. With 1.2 billion people and the world’s one of the largest economy, India’s recent growth and development has been one of the most significant achievements of our times. The world is now looking at India with a renewed respect-as it is an emerging power in the world. India is often referred as the “sleeping giant”, and presently it holds the third largest market also in the world. Even after the continuous depression in the international economy the results are less appalling in India comparatively. More impressive is the positive transformation of the India’s working class group from low cost labor to brain power of highly skilled and educated people. This is a transformation that requires explanation.

Staff Development Programme Conducted on Service Orientation and Professional Excellence

16th and 18th February, 2016 were very special dates for the staff members of ITS Centre for Dental Studies and Research, Ghaziabad as the college had organized an interesting Staff Development Programme for them.

The theme of SDP was ‘Service Orientation and Professional Excellence’. The resource persons for the SDP were Dr. Charu Chaudhary and Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi.

The SDP was inaugurated by Dr. Devicharan Shetty, the Principal, who in his inaugural address pointed out the importance of the theme of SDP and asked the participants to remain interactive throughout all sessions of SDP. He said that an SDP on Service Orientation will be effective and fruitful only when we have an internal urge to serve people. He wished the participants a great learning and fun.

Soon after the inaugural addresses, the high energy SDP began. Dr. Charu took sessions on Service Orientation while Dr. Gopal elaborated the nuances of Professional Excellence. A variety of tools were used for the effective training and sharing the various aspects of the theme. Staff-members showed unprecedented interest in the tasks like chart preparations, role plays, sharing feedback as customer and as an official. Videos on Japanese Culture, innovative customer care and infections of anger and happiness not only attracted the participants but also generated a lot of learning out of discussions after the videos.

At the end of the SDP, the staff members shared their experiences and takeaways. Finally the SDP, packed with fun, learning and games concluded with the valedictory session.

Prof.Alok Singh presented aresearch paper at IIT Kharagpur.

On February 12th, 13th and 14th, 2016 an International conference was organized at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur on the theme of “E-Business and Supply Chain Competitiveness” (EBSCC 2016).

The conference saw a great gathering of wonderfully acclaimed speakers throughout the world. This conference was devised to create a platform for discussion on the current and contemporary issues on E- Business, Process Excellence and Supply Chain Management. The conference had also allowed the participants to discuss current and pressing issues with senior level executives and academicians from different countries.

On the behalf of I.T.S- Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad; Prof. Alok Singh has participated among the elite galaxy of eminent scholars and presented his research paper titled “A Review of Literature on Supply Chain Performance Evaluation of Perishable Products in India”. More than 100 quality research papers across the world were submitted by different area experts in their different domain of expertise. The conference was inaugurated with benign presence of Mr. Sanjiv Paul; MD, Tata Metaliks.

This three day international conference was organized by Industrial and Systems Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Prof Anuja Roy & Prof Kanika Tandon attended and presented a paper titled “Reorienting Branding: The Digital Approach to Building a Series of Experiences” at UGC Sponsored 5th National Conference on “Marketing in the 21stcentury: Issues and Challenges” at Vallabh Bhai Chest Institute, New Delhi organized by Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (University of Delhi) on 5th and 6th February, 2016.

The conference theme addressed the issues and challenges before the business world in the ever evolving area of marketing. It highlighted the technological changes happening and concluded that the need of the hour is to embrace digital technology alongside of doing business the traditional way.

The Inaugural session commenced with lamp lighting, followed by a welcome address by Dr. P.K.Khurana, Principal SBSC. Mr. Manish Sisodia Deputy Chief Minister,Govt of NCT of Delhiwas the Chief Guest and Dr Abhishek Gupta, Chairman Governing Body along with Dr Kavita Sharma, Head-Department of commerce, University of Delhi, were the Guest of Honor. The Inaugural Session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Anil Sardana,Organising Secretary, SBSC.

The key note address was given by Mr Vijay Rai, President and CEO,Powerconand Mr Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director & Country Head Polaris India Private Limited. The speakers emphasised that present day era is that of “Experience” and companies should move one step ahead in delivering an extraordinary experience to customers across all touchpoints.

The next course of the conference was divided into three technical sessions. The technical session III was on “Legal, Ethical and Environmental Concerns in Marketing “This session was chaired by Prof MuneeshKumar, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Head-Department of Financial Studies, University Of Delhi.

The seminar attempted to arrive at a course of actionable points that accurately described the path to follow and how to meet the challenges.The conference was well received by the participants.
