Dr. Vijesh Jain conducted One day workshop at J.K. Papers Ltd. Head Office, New Delhi

Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor of International Business at I.T.S, Ghaziabad, conducted a one day workshop cum in-house training program at J.K. Papers Ltd., New Delhi at the head office of J.K. Organization, on the topic 'Letter of Credit and Incoterms 2010' on 17th May, 2016.

Around 18 middle to senior executives of various J.K. Group companies including J.K. Papers, J.K. Tyres, Umang Dairies and others attended this highly interactive full day training program. With the help of an academic discourse and practical feedback of the practicing international trade executives who attended this workshop, it was a very enriching full day discussion on the topic.

I.T.S thanks J.K. Organization and J.K. Group for providing this opportunity to conduct this training program for their selected and seasoned company executives. A number of I.T.S faculty members provided inputs and advise to make this prestigious training program successful.

Report on visit to MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly

I, Prof. Sunil Kr Pandey, was invited as Key Note Speaker to deliver an Expert Talk in “IEEE Sponsored International Symposium on “Internet of Things: Smart Innovation and Usages (IoT-SIU 2016)” organized by Faculty of Engineering & Technology, MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly during 22nd – 23rd April, 2016.

Some of the other speakers in this Symposium included Ms. Vijay Laxmi, Sr. IT Architect, Biogen, USA, Dr. Ashutosh Kumar - NIT Kurukshetra, Dr. Mayank Agrawal - GKV Haridwar, Dr. S.C. Sharma – IIT Roorkee, Prof. Manish Prateek – UPES Dehradoon. The Symposium was inaugurated by the Prof. Mushahid Husain, Honorable Vice Chancellor of MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. On this occasion Dr. R. Singh, Professor & Head, Dept of CS&E, Dr. Vinay Rishiwal and other faculty members of the Dept of CS&E, Electronics & Communication, large number of delegates, Researchers and faculty members of other institutes were also present.

In this symposium, my talk was scheduled on Day-2 from 11.00 AM to 01.00PM. In my talk, I focused on following dimensions of IoT:

  • Historical Evolution of Technology that led the foundation of realization of the concept of IoT
  • Different domains of Technology evolution – Database Technologies, Storage Technologies, Network Technologies, Applications
  • Discussion on vision of IoT, Growth, Conceptual Framework & Applications
  • Research Dimensions & Opportunities in this Area
  • Challenges & Issues in IoT
  • Case Study

The Session was followed by Q & A Session of about 30 minutes and it was a nice experience to interact with the participants & delegates and address their queries. It was a wonderful learning & networking experience where I meet some of the old friends and domain experts.

Conference attended by Dr. Abhinav P. Tripathi on Brand Management "CBM 2016" at IIT –Delhi.

Dr. Abhinav P. Tripathi has participated and presented a research paper on “Non-deceptive counterfeit brands: a descriptive approach to understand consumer perspective” co-authored by Prof. Durba Roy in a refereed, international conference on "Brand Management" organized on 16th and 17th April,2016 at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT–Delhi), Delhi.

This conference was an initiative to bring the research, academia and industry on the same platform to discuss the various initiatives and consequences of brands and its management. More than 500 researcher and scholars from across the globe have joined at this international conference, which was being further supported by Adobe and emerald as digital and knowledge cum printing partners of this international conference research proceedings. This two days international conference widely addressed the issues of startup branding and valuation, Public sector branding, branding by not for profit organization, technology branding, b2b and ethical branding.

Faculty IT attended workshop at JNU

Director-IT Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey, Prof. Puja Dhar, Prof. Umang and Dr. Vidushi Singh had attended one day International Workshop on “Big Data Analytics” on 30thMarch, 2016 at JNU, New Delhi.

The objective of this workshop was to analyze Big Data. The details of the workshop are as follows:

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. MukeshMohania IBM Researcher, Dr. T.V.Vijay Kumar JNU, Dr. D.P.Vidyarthi JNU. Dr. Mohania has delivered his keynote talk on “Big Data Analytics and Application” The workshop was divided into 5 different talks by 5 eminent speakers.

Talk 1:

Topic :“Bid Data and Contextual Intelligence”

Speaker: Dr. L.V. Subramaniam, IBM Researcher.

While addressing the participants Dr.Subramaniam discussed about the sources and characteristics of Big Data with 4 V’s used into it.

Talk 2:

Topic : “An Overview of the Map Reduce Research”

Speaker : Dr. Himanshu Gupta,IBM Researcher.

Dr. Gupta has started his talk by defining HDFS in detail. He also explained why and how replication is done. He also discussed in detail about Map Reduce. He concluded his session by mentioning some research areas of Map Reduce.

Dr. GuptatTalk 3:

Topic : “Scalable Graph Algorithms on Massively Parallel Computers”

Speaker: Dr. Yogesh Sabharwal,IBM Researcher.

While addressing the participants, Dr. Sabharwal briefed about Single Source Shortest Path.He also talked about basic algorithmslike Dijkstra and Bellman-Ford in detail. At the end he has given comparison on between the basic algorithms.

Talk 4:

Topic : “Introduction to Knowledge Graph Stores with Application”

Speakers: Dr. Sameep Mehta,IBM Researcher.

Mr. Mehta discussed about , Apache and about the Challenges for Cloud Computing like availability of service, what happens when the service cannot deliver service, data confidentiality and availability is a serious problem. He said that security is the major concern in cloud computing. He also discussed about the knowledge graph stores with applications. He also gave some live examples of day to day life.

Talk 5

Topic : “Issues and Challenges in Sentiment Extraction from Financial Data”

Speakers: Dr. Ananda Swarup Das,IBM Researcher.

While addressing the participants Dr. Ananda talked about the issues and challenges in Sentiment Extraction from Financial Data. He nicely explained each aspect related to the financial data and how it is extracted from the live data.

At the end of this one workshop, certificates and mementos were distributed among participants.

Overall it was a good and new learning experience about BigData.

Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey was invited to chair a technical session on "SUSTAINABLE COMPUTING" INDIACom – 2016; 10th INDIACom; 2016 & 3rd IEEE International Conference on “Computing for Sustainable Global Development” being organized during 16th – 18th March, 2016, technically sponsored by IEEE Delhi Section and Technically supported by GGSIP University, New Delhi, ISTE Delhi Section, CSI Region – I, Csi HQ Divisions - I, II, III, IV & V, IETE Delhi Centre and IET (UK) Delhi Local Networks.

It was really a wonderful platform for exchange of knowledge, research & works by researchers across the country from leading organizations and institutions. The grand success of this event is credited to the able mentorship & able leadership of Prof. Mn Hoda and his team

The session was kept on the theme of “sustainable Computing” total 18 papers on the theme related to High Performance Computing.

Dr. Vijesh Jain & Dr. V. N. Bajpai conducted FDP at KIHEAT, Delhi.

Prof. Vijesh Jain, Associate Professor at I.T.S, Ghaziabad, conducted a technical session cum faculty development lecture as invited speaker at Kamal Institute of Higher Education and Advance Studies, Delhi (Affiliated to I.P. University, Delhi), as part of a National Seminar cum FDP on "International Business and Strategic Management", held at the college campus on 15th March, 2016.

It was also a pleasure for Prof. Vijesh Jain to be welcomed at Institute campus, as chief guest and keynote speaker for the inaugural ceremony of the National Seminar. Faculty and selected students of several IP university affiliated colleges attended the inaugural ceremony followed by a half day technical session cum “faculty development lecture” by him on the topic "Current Geopolitical Environment for Business".

Later in the day, there was another half day technical cum faculty development lecture by Prof. V.N. Bajpai, Professor of Marketing at I.T.S. The topic of the lecture was – Blue Ocean Strategies. The lecture was conducted in an interactive manner with a process focusing on experiential learning. The program was also attended by a number of faculties from Kamal Institute as well as other colleges affiliated to I.P. University, Delhi.

Prof. Anuja Roy attended workshop on “Brand Consumption & Culture” at ICC, New Delhi.

Prof. Anuja Roy attended a half a day workshop on “Brand Consumption & Culture” on March 6, 2015 at India International Centre, Max Mueller Road, New Delhi.

Researchers have been working hard on the Brand, Consumption & Culture aspects of the products consumers consume. The landscape of branding is not limited to the name Logo, or even the image, but has far extended within the fibers of each singular aspect of Brand identity. Due to the various traditions and social aspects of culture, the field of marketing is expanding now towards culture where consumption is considered as a social & cultural activity, and it is no more a linear function. The cultural paradigm holds of vital importance to understand the Brand Consumption Culture.

The workshop was organized by Ms Arbuda Sharma. Arbuda is a researcher and consultant in the area of Brand Consumption Culture, at XLRI Jamshedpur. Presently attempting to develop a framework of Brand Consumption Culture. The workshop focussed on the impact of culture on branding. The session explored various case studies on Kellog’s in India, MTV in India, Citibank. Further, topics such as input elements comprising of brand identity, brand persona, brand communication, Hofstede’s cultural dimensions were discussed.

The workshop witnessed participation from Industry and Academicia. It has been a platform to share experiences on the topic.
