Guest lecture on “Automation and Digitalisation in Operations” for MBA students

A guest lecture on the topic “Automation and Digitalisation in Operations” was organised at I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad for MBA students on 30th May, 2023.

 

The session was addressed by Mr. Sandeep Sharma. The objective of the session was to make the students aware about the new trends taking place in the operations field and what are the various job opportunities available in the areas related to it.

Mr. Sharma started a discussion on the automation we see in day-to-day life as a consumer. He provided practical examples to make the point. He traced out the transformation from Industry 0 (Pre-Industrial Revolution) to Industry 1.0 (Mechanisation) to Industry 2.0 (Mass Production)  to Industry 3.0 (Automation) and finally Industry 4.0 (Digitalisation and Integration).

Mr Sharma had an interactive session with the students on the concepts of idea, creativity, invention and innovation. He stressed on how out-of-the-box thinking facilitates digitisation, automation and digital transformation.

In order to provide a practical orientation Mr Sharma further mentioned the areas of operations in different organisations under manufacturing and service operations. He also addressed queries from the students towards the end.

The session concluded with Dr. Indraneel Mandal presenting the Plaque of Honour to the guest as a token of appreciation and gratitude. Dr Mandal thanked Mr Sharma for providing practical learnings to the students.

Faculty Member attended a workshop on Self Transformation through Mind Management

Dr. Vivek Pachauri and Dr. Indraneel Mandal from I.T.S Ghaziabad attended a workshop on Self Transformation through Mind Management on May 27, 2023 

 

at AKGIM, Ghaziabad. The workshop was organized by GMA. The objective of the workshop was to make the participants aware about how to manage one's mind which helps  individuals explore their “unlock immense untapped potential and enabled them to lead more enriched lives with a firm commitment towards true upliftment of 'the self”. The workshop mainly focused on the Life Transformation Program with the following take away and significant benefits.

At the Life Transformation Program, the facilitator helped participants to embark on the journey to grow from within, and discover the universal principles behind creating a life filled with peace and joy.

The resource person Dr. Pradeep Saxena of Hens Berger Centre for Mind Management & Growth, Lucknow is MBA and Ph.D in Business Administration from Lucknow University, with a vast 28 years of work experience in the government and prestigious private sectors enterprises such as U.P. Electronics Corporation, Reliance Communications, ESSAR India, Birla Group of companies at senior positions.

It was a very awe-inspiring workshop with free and fair exchange of thoughts for all the participants.  Many of the participants had specific queries relating to this vast area, which were adequately handled by the dignitaries. It was an enriching experience to hear from experts that mind is the singular most important factor determining the quality of our life. It has the potential of being our greatest comrade or our worst adversary.

Dr. V. N. Bajpai invited as a resource person in Nation Seminar

Dr V N Bajpai, Professor of I.T.S Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad has been invited as a resource person to address the participants of National Seminar on “Role of Social Organizations in Developing Peace and Harmony Across the Globe” organized by St. Andrews Institute of Technology & Management, Gurugram in association with International Goodwill Society of India on 27th May, 2023.

 Dr. Yogendar Narain, IAS (Retd.) and Central President of International Goodwill Society of India Dr. R.K. Bhatnagar, IAS (Retd) Dr. Debarshi Mukherjee from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi were among others prominent speakers.

Dr Bajpai in his address shared that Peace has always been among humanity's highest values. In a world often marred by conflict and division, it is crucial to acknowledge the tremendous power and potential of social organizations in promoting unity, understanding, and cooperation among nations and individuals. These organizations, fueled by compassion and a collective vision for a better world, serve as beacons of hope, striving tirelessly to bridge the gaps and foster a sense of harmony and peaceful coexistence.

He discussed some of the examples from ancient India and modern world including PeaceJam Foundation, The Citizens Foundation (TCF), Goonj, an NGO based in India to elaborate how different social organizations play a vital role in addressing the underlying social and economic inequalities that contribute to unrest and tension. He emphasized to recognize tireless efforts of social organizations and encourage participants to join hands with them in building a future where peace and harmony prevail and to create a world that celebrates our shared humanity and cherishes the beauty of diversity. More than 200 participants attended the seminar.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad conducted ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme on the 26th of May, 2023. The temperatures are rising, but Parivartan continues on its usual course

 

The volunteers for the day were Ziya, Amit. Nishu Shivani, Shruti, Aryan and Nandan.

Not surprisingly, the day started witha session on how to deal with the heat. Shivani, Nishu and Shruti explained the precautions the young ones need to take in the hot summer months such as keeping themselves hydrated at all times, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight and taking a lot of seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Next came the storytelling session where Amit related the modern fable of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The idea was that hard work and persistence could make any dream come true. One of India’s most successful captains was the best inspiration who could provide life lessons for the kids.

The activity for the day involved the students being asked to make paper boats. Ziya and Shivani guided them through the process in a step by step manner. After making the boat the kids were asked to write their name on it before giving it to their best friend.

Then it was time for the game session. The tiny tots were asked to dance to music in groups. When the music was stopped those who were still in motion were disqualified. The process was repeated until only a winner and a runner up were left. The winner received an insulated bottle as a prize, while the runner up was rewarded with a big pack of Real juice.

This brought us to the close of the day’s session. Bottles of Frooti and biscuits were distributed among the children before they moved homewards. Dr Indraneel Mandal planned the activities along with the volunteers and motivated them on site.

Session on “Young Mind Movement” by Sakshi Shree, a Spiritual Master & Mystic

Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad organized a session on “Young Mind Movement” for the students on 25th May, 2023 by Sakshi Shree, a Spiritual Master & Mystic and Founder of the Science Divine Movement, which is spearheading the conscious living movement across the world.

Dr V N Bajpai, Director of the Institute extended a warm welcome to the guest and his team including Ms. Mallika Pant, President of Science Divine Foundation.

Sakshi Shree discussed and demonstrated some of the self devised scientific techniques best suited for the young participants including Inner healing meditation, Immortality meditation, Manifestation meditation, and Mind-power enhancing meditation.

He said that the power of education, nurtured with love & spirituality from childhood can create a new humanity on this earth. He emphasized on scientifically proven techniques to help people achieve the state of Sound Body, Sound Mind and Self-Realization.

The session was highly interactive as students were curious to ask many questions. Towards end of the session, plaque of honour was presented to the guest by the Institute.

3rd Ghaziabad District Ranking Table Tennis Tournament-2023

Institute of Technology & Science, Ghaziabad in association with Ghaziabad Association of Table Tennis hosted 3rd Ghaziabad District Ranking Table Tennis Tournament-2023 at the Sports Complex of I.T.S, Ghaziabad campus from 20-21 May, 2023. Total 122 players participated in the event from Ghaziabad district.
 

There were 6 categories of Boy’s & Girl’s in the tournament. These are as follows

1.      Under-11

2.      Under-13

3.      Under-15

4.      Under-17

5.      Under-19

6.      Above-19

The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey, Director, (IT & UG Campus) Dr. V. N. Bajpai, Director, I.T.S, Ghaziabad, Prof. Nancy Sharma, Vice Principal, I.T.S-UG Campus, Dr. D. K. Pandey, Sports Coordinator, Shri Rishi Raj Tyagi, Secretary (Ghaziabad Association of Table Tennis) and Mr. Kapil, Sports Officer, I.T.S, Ghaziabad.

This Championship aimed for the selection of the players for the state team and the development of Table Tennis in the district of Ghaziabad.

The closing ceremony of this championship was held   on 21st May, 2023 in august presence of Dr. V. N. Bajpai, Director, I.T.S, Ghaziabad , Dr. D. K. Pandey, Sports Coordinator, Shri Rishi Raj Tyagi, Secretary (Ghaziabad Association of Table Tennis) and Mr. Kapil, Sports Officer and a large gathering of winners, participants and parents.

Sh. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman- The I.T.S Group conveyed his congratulations and expressed his best wishes to all the winners and participants for their active participation and encouraged them to excel in future. Shri Rishi Raj Tyagi, Secretary (Ghaziabad Association of Table Tennis), congratulated all the winners and conveyed best wishes for future success.

I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad has a rich tradition to reward and honour top class sports persons like Binod Kambli, Lokesh Tewatia, Ashish Nehra, Piyush Chawla, Sushil Kumar in the glorious past and to organize and participate in various sports activities to promote and encourage sportsmanship amongst the students of I.T.S and citizens of Ghaziabad district.

2 - days Life Skills Training Programme for MBA (2022-24) Batch

Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad, Department of Management organized a 2 - days Life Skills Training Programme for MBA (2022-24) Batch on 19th – 20th May, 2023 by Global Talent Track, partner of Barclays Bank.

The objective to organize this training program was to enhance the Professional skills and overall skills development of the students by Corporate Trainers which will help them significantly to increase their chance of succeeding in career.

The experts namely Mr. Maheep Singh, Mr. Keshav Bhatia, Ms Sushma Singh and Ms. Shilpi Agarwal were the resource persons for 2-days. All experts were Master Trainers in the respective areas.

The training program covered modules like Communication Skills, Personality Grooming, Body language, Confidence Building, Interview Preparation, Mock GD & PI, etc.

Trainers explained the importance of Attitude and Behaviour with relevant examples to their respective groups. They answered all the queries of the participants to progress in their career.

At the end of the program, learners were able to Gain Self Competency, Confidence, Practices Emotional Competency and possess positive attitude.

Utthan Club Activity -“World Of Paint”

Utthan, a CSR initiative of I.T.S Ghaziabad, Department of Management, organised a "Computer Lab Activity" to conduct a practical session in the Computer Lab for Government School students of class 1st to 8th in the campus on 18th May, 2023. 

 

During the session, all the students were taken to the Computer Lab where they were taught to search on Google and make a presentation on the different topics given to them by MBA student coordinators. Students learned the basics of MS office – MS Paint and to make powerpoint presentations using different designs and tools. After making the presentations, students were asked to present their PPTs and were given feedback by the volunteers.

After Completion of computer Lab activity, students were asked to explain their learning during the session. Students were excited to explain the tools they have used for MS Paint and MS Powerpoint.

Faculty Coordinators, Dr. Nitin Saxena and Prof. Shilpi Rana along with student volunteers of Utthan Club coordinated the activity and motivated the students to work harder on their computer skills.  

At the end of the day, students were given refreshments.

Guest lecture on “Identity Politics and Rise of China and its impact on Global Business” for (MBA 2021 – 23) batch

Department of Management organized a guest lecture on “Identity Politics and Rise of China and its impact on Global Business” for the students of (MBA 2021 – 23) batch on May 17, 2023.

 

The objective of the lecture was to supplement the learning of students about geopolitics and its impact on international trade. The speaker for the lecture was Dr. Faisal Ahmed, Professor of International Business & Geopolitics at FORE School of Management, New Delhi. His research and consulting interests include the Indo-Pacific region, China’s trade and geopolitics, and free trade agreements.

Dr. Faisal began by introducing the term “Geopolitics”. He explained that geopolitics is when political leaders, countries, organizations, and corporations assess how their actions would affect other political leaders, countries, organizations, and corporations. Further, he introduced the term “Identity Politics” to the participants, which he described as a political approach wherein people of a particular race, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social background, social class, or other identifying factors develop political agendas that are based upon these identities. Dr. Ahmad then discussed the emergence of CHINA as a super economy. He argued that it was only done with the support of other super powers including the USA that supported the rise of China during the 1970’s. He deliberated upon the various programs and agendas being supported by CHINA in the current international trade for its own development and how they are being strongly opposed by India with the objective of protecting our sovereignty. Dr. Ahmad also highlighted various instances in history where different countries, including India, have used protectionist measures in International Trade and its impacts on the economies. Lastly, he highlighted the significance of trade agreements and reason for which nations come into these agreements.

The session was highly fruitful and informative for the students. The students learnt about the impact of world politics on international trade. They felt that the resource person was competent and had exhaustive knowledge about the subject matter. He handled queries and doubts very well and the overall interaction was very useful. The session culminated by presenting a vote of thanks and plaque to Dr. Faisal Ahmad.

Incubation Centre at IIML Noida Campus visited by MBA students

Seventeen students of MBA First Year from the Institute of Technology & Science, Mohan Nagar went on an exposure visit to the Incubation Centre at the IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre, Noida Campus on the 16th May, 2023. Dr Sanjeev Tandon and Dr Indraneel Mandal accompanied the students on the trip.

The group was welcomed Dr Pooja Pandey, HR faculty and Head of the Enterprise HER initiative at IIML. She started the session with the introductory video explaining how IIML-EIC works, including how it helps the entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas. She went on to explain the various programmes like

Start up Stage Program which includes thePre-Incubation Programme, the Incubation Programme, and the Acceleration program

Market Access Support includingtheCorporate Engagement Programme, the CVC Training Programme and the Global Networking Programme.

Academic Engagement such as setting up incubator for others and other academic associations

Investor Engagement like investopreneur initiatives, venture capital tie ups, etc. Moving forward with the session Mr. Arunodaya Bajpai, COO, IIML-EIC, gave a briefing about the holistic approach of IIML-EICin developing the business ideas. He also guided the participants through the organisational development at startups.  After the interaction it was time to visit the incubation centre. Students were made aware about the latest technology including the use of 3D printers, artificial intelligence and a supercomputer, all of which are available for use by startups at the centre.

It was a very useful session which thoroughly enthused the students. It is hoped that the interaction will lead to positive benefits  including development of individual ideas by the youngsters.

I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, Department of Management organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Exploring Options for Effective Business Decisions” on 15thMay 2023 for MBA-II Sem students. Guest lecture coordinator Dr. Gurpreet Kaur welcomed the speaker, Mr. Vineet Sinha.

Mr. Vineet Sinha currently working as a senior product manager at Tata Communications LTD. He has 19 years of experience in IT & Telecom Industry. He holds certifications in Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), Lead Implementer (ISO 22301:2019), Certified Safe5 Product Owner/Product Manager, and APMP Foundation Level from Duke Corporate Education.

The session was concentrated mostly on making decisions. He gave a succinct summary of the decision-making process and the need for excellent decisions. He used a specific instance to demonstrate how decision-making affects the corporation.

At the end of the session, a Q/A round was held in which the speaker cleared all the queries of the students regarding effective business decisions. It was an engrossing lecture. The event concluded with the presentation of virtual plaques as a token of gratitude and remembrance by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur to the guest speaker Mr. Vineet Sinha.

WYSIWYG 2023 – Annual Management Fest

I. T. S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized the 16th edition of the Annual Management Fest – WYSIWYG on  May 12, 2023.

 

The day long cultural extravaganza attracted more than 400 participants from 50 Institutes across Delhi-NCR.The event commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting and the welcome address of Dr. V. N. Bajpai, Director, Institute of Technology & Science. He highlighted the achievements of the previous editions of WYSIWYG and welcomed all the participants and the dignitaries to celebrate the vibrant diversity of our campus community and showcase the rich tapestry of cultures that make us unique.

Shri Surinder Sood, Director (PR) , I.T.S The Education Group, in his address encouraged all the participants and reminded of the power of youth community and the importance of coming together to celebrate our accomplishments in the form of fests like WYSIWYG.

Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Convener of the event presented the overview of the program. The inaugural ceremony was embellished with beautiful performances by the students. The Group dance performance on Yoga theme by the students of Parivartan- The CSR Club of I.T.S mesmerized the audience.

Alumni talk on “Towards a Professional Career Ahead: Opportunities and Challenges” for MBA students

Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad has organized an alumni talk on “Towards a Professional Career Ahead: Opportunities and Challenges” on 10th May, 2023 for the students of MBA (2022-24) batch.

The speaker for the session was Ms. Sneh Singh, Deputy Manager, Pearson and Alumna of MBA (2011-13) batch.  The motive behind the session was to make students aware of the functioning of Publication industry and discuss the possible opportunities available in this industry. The session started with the welcome address by Dr. Nitin Saxena, Coordinator of MBA Alumni Cell.

Ms. Sneh started her talk with the introduction of the publishing industry, its size, competitor analysis and opportunities available. She discussed her job profile and role in the company.  She highlighted effective communication written and verbal, learning from industry practices and passion as key skills to sustain and grow in publishing industry. She demonstrated different platforms for the students to enroll themselves to continuously upgrade skills. She also shared some of the beautiful memories and extended her gratitude to I.T.S for the support provided during her two years program.

During the session Ms. Sneh shared many examples from her own organization with respect to challenges involved and their ways to address them. The session was highly interactive as students were curious to ask questions.

MBA students attended Kavi Sammelan at Aajtak Studios

On 5th May, 2023, students from the MBA 1st Year (2022-24) batch of I.T.S Mohan Nagar visited the India Today Mediaplex, accompanied by Dr Sanjeev Tandon and Dr Indraneel Mandal.

The purpose of the trip was to observe the production of a live television show and gain practical experience in this matter.

The first show was a Kavi Sammelan under the Good News Today banner which is a programme that brings together poets and their work to entertain and inspire the audience. It was headed by Navjot Randhawa with four well known poets as guests.

The topic of the day were the forthcoming elections around the country seen from a sarcastic point of view. The next two sessions were for Aaj Tak's famous Halla Bol programme, with one being on live TV. Halla Bol is a current affair show that discusses pressing issues affecting India. Both of the shows were headed by one of the leading anchors of the day Ms. Anjana Om Kashyap with the debate focussing on issues relating to the upcoming Karnataka elections.

After the show, the students had the opportunity to interact with the host and the invited guests. The trip turned out to be great learning experience for the students. Besides highlighting some of the burning topics of the day, it also provided them with practical exposure and insight into the behind-the-scenes work that goes into producing a live television show.

International Conference- 2023 on “ Innovations, Agility and Sustainability in Global Business Environment”.

I.T.S Ghaziabad organized International Conference- 2023 on the theme of “ Innovations, Agility and Sustainability in Global Business Environment” on 28th and 29th April 2023.

The conference had an enlightening inaugural session followed by four technical session and two online Plenary session accompanied by global eminent speakers from France, Philippines, USA, Peru & UK. It was organized on two subsequent days, i.e. on 28- 29 April, 2023.

The event commenced with the virtual invocation of Goddess Saraswati. Prof. (Dr.) V.N. Bajpai, Director- I.T.S Ghaziabad warmly welcomed all the eminent speakers and shared his valuable insights on the focal theme with the audience. An overview of the conference and introduction of the theme was given by Conference Convener, Dr. Manoj Kumar Jha.

The inaugural session was graced by honorable Chief Guest Lt Gen A. K. Singh,  PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd),Former Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Additional Administration of Puducherry) Sainik Farms, Delhi. He deliberated on the unique aspects of leadership in a VUCA world. HE alluded that corporartes could benefit from employing a model that focuses on life and death decisions without limiting itself to simple profit and loss evaluations.

Guest of Honor Prof. S. K. Jain, Former Vice Chancellor, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi , University , Jammu, traced the development of innovation ni various fields, pointing out how the decreasing life cycles are having major implications for companies as well as consumers and &  Dr. Ravi Shankar, Professor, IIT Delhi invoked the concept of Triple Bottom Line stressing on the need to achieve the parallel objectives of economic growth, social benefit and environmental protection.

During the Panel Session-1, participants got enriched on the theme “Sustainability of Business in Volatile global Business Environment” by professors from IIM-A, IIM-I, IIM-K,IIM-Kashipur & others . The conference witnessed international Panel Session-2 on theme “Innovations , Agility and Sustainability in Global Business Environment” with academic luminaries from the USA, England, Vietnam, Romania and Peru.
