Dr. Vijesh Jain presented research paper at IIM – Ahmedabad.


Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad presented a research paper titled - Nature, variations and preferences in ‘level of comfort’ among employees with different national background at 4th Pan IIM World Management Conference, held at IIM – Ahmedabad, New campus between 12th Dec to 15th Dec, 2016. The paper was authored by Prof. Vijesh Jain along with the second author Dr. Susana Costa e Silva, from Catholic University of Porto, Portugal. In addition to the paper presentation Prof. Vijesh Jain also participated in 2 pre conference workshops on – Research writing and SEM.

The conference is part of a series of PAN IIM World Management Conferences and was 4th in this series. The next conference will be held at IIM – Lucknow. The theme of the 4th conference was – India – towards better governance. A total of 125 research papers from across the world were selected for presentation at the conference. Several parallel track of paper presentations were held at the conference. The highlight of the conference was the keynote address during the inaugural of the conference by by Prof. Peter Ronald deSouza, of Center for the study of Developing Societies along with Director, IIM A, Prof. Ashish Nanda, followed by a panel discussion by 16 directors of different IIMs in India. Several foreign professors, researchers and industry persons attended the world conference.

A Computer Scientist and one of the pioneers in the field of data structures: Prof Sartaj K. Sahni at I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad on 14.12.2016


 Prof. Sartaj K. Sahni, famous honorary and distinguished professor from University of Florida, USA, has delivered a invited talk on 14th December, 2016, at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad. In this session, pioneer of data structures & Computer Scientist Prof. Sartaj K. Sahani delivered talk on “Dimensions of Data Structures & Algorithms”.  

In his address, he explained the concept of Time and energy efficient computing and importance of energy conservations. Prof. Sartaj K. Sahni enlightened on the impact of energy efficient computing in information technology, evaluation of system performance along with time and energy metrics, involvement of super computers into these computing techniques, top 5 well established super computers, K Computers, Tianhe-1A, Jaguar, Ncubulae, Tsubane 2.0 , single core, multicore architechture, gaming industry, GPU, multithreaded programming, cache matrix multiplication.

He provided a detailed insight with his recent research and latest technique - Matrix Multiplication on GPUs. He also explained the method for effective programming by using example of matrix multiplication in terms of less memory consumption. He described that legacy single core codes will need to be rewritten to benefit from future advances in computer architecture and GPU performance can be increased if we do programming with millions of threads.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme


11th December, 2016 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an overhauling class through a comprehensive quiz based on all the lessons and exercises done till date. The purpose was to refresh the previous knowledge and to see if the absorption of information was perfect or required supplements. Some good quality old clothes were also distributed among the slum children.

Volunteers of the day - Renu Chauhan, Devashish Bose, Arti Gupta, Avinash Kumar, Arif Hussain, Vikas Babu and Satender Rana (Dev) started the activity with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.
As mentioned, this was an overhauling class to refresh and repair the absorption of lessons and exercises done so far in this slum. The comprehensive quiz included questions mainly from Math, English, GK and Geography.
Questions also included the President of India, 5 fruits names, 5 vegetables name, 5 flowers name, 5 animals name, 5 birds name, 5 colours name, 7 continents name, full name of our present Prime Minister, India’s 1st Prime Minister, India’s first president etc. Initially the children looked confused between the President & the Prime Minister while answering but the volunteers on duty clarified the confusions and the doubts effectively. Those who responded correctly were appreciated with the Spicy Chips packets.
The class for the day ended with the repetition of the poem ‘Mendhak Raja’ on the loud demand of the slum children. The revision of counting from 1 to 100 in Hindi and English and the descriptive English alphabets was also done as routine.
The class ended with the distribution of Chips, chocolates and biscuits among all children. Officers of the club Mr. Arif Hussain and Vikas Babu effectively coordinate the activity.

Management faculty members attended one day seminar on “Inter-linkages between exports and employment” organized by EXIM Bank of India, Mumbai.


Prof. Vijesh Jain, Prof. Shuchita Singh and Prof. Parul Gupta attended an important seminar in Delhi on 5th Dec, 2016 at New Delhi. The seminar was organized by EXIM Bank of India, Mumbai.

Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), in its endeavour to promote and facilitate India’s trade and investment, periodically brings out research publications focusing on various countries, regions, and industries as also macroeconomic issues of relevance to international trade. With the increasing significance of the role of exports in supporting employment, Exim Bank felt the need for undertaking a Study to map the inter-linkages between exports and employment. Such kind of analysis has been conducted by institutions in other countries, such as the US Department of Commerce (for USA), and the European Commission (for Europe). A Study titled “Inter-linkages between Exports and Employment in India”, has recently been completed by Exim Bank. Exim Bank conducted the Seminar based on the theme of the Study, during which the findings of the Study was presented.

4th December, 2016 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an Astro cum Geography class that included the Big Bang Theory and the formation of 7 continents.
Volunteers of the day – Shefali Gupta, Payel Sinha, Abhinav Kumar Jha, Priya Srivastava, Afzal Qureshi, Arif Hussain and Satender Rana (Dev) started the activity with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.

The class for this day was on the Big Bang Theory and the 7 Continents. The children were told in brief about the universe and the popular big-bang theory. They were also told how our Earth came into existence and finally they were explained about the 7 continents on Earth. It was really pleasing to see that even the smallest child in the gathering could recognize the 7 continents on board when named. The children were also informed of the positioning of India in the Asian continent. A short quiz was conducted on the content shared and the correct responses were appreciated with the packets of special cookies.
This was followed by the routine revision of counting from 1 to 100 in Hindi and English, followed by the descriptive English alphabets.
The class ended with the distribution of Chips, chocolates and biscuits among all children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Parivartan Club.

Utthan Lab Activity


3rd December, 2016 activity of Utthan Lab, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a colourful and funfilled activity in which around 150 students enjoyed outdoor games along with regular academic activities.
Volunteers of the day– Akanksha Trivedi, Abhinav Gupta, Shubham Mendiratta, Sumit Kumar, Jayjita Sarkar, Ujjwal Chaudhary, Manoj Kumar Sharma, Aanchal Grover and Satender Rana (Dev) started the day with the prayer ‘Humko mann ki shakti dena, mann vijay karein, doosro ki jay se pehle khud ki jay karein’.

The first session of the day was a technical session on ‘Demonetization’. Surprisingly the little student did not know the term ‘demonetization’ although they were very much familiar with the ban on big value currency. The term and the consequences were very well defined and described for them with day to day examples.

A brief on ‘Pollution’ was also made for the children as they are going to shape the future of the country soon. They were reminded of the smog, suffocation and irritation in eyes due to heavy pollution around Diwali which has not yet gone back to normal levels. The children were also appealed to take serious precautions for making NCR a better place.

The Second Session of the day was a five-fold task to be performed in the computer labs. The children were asked to do the following five things on computer – writing self introducation in MS Word, Making a short PowerPoint presentation, Identifying and opening MS Excel, Finding ‘Demonetization’ in Google Search and opening the recited prayer on Youtube. The volunteers and the lab experts guided them as per requirement. The best 36 performers were appreciated with the attractive prizes.

The last session of the day was Outdoor Games. The children participated in the double race competition. The first round was a ‘Ball on Belly Race’ in which the children had to run in pairs holding the ball between their tummies with the hands on their back. Those who qualified the first round ran the individual race in the second round. Final winners were felicitated with attractive brand new t-shirts. Other runners were also awarded with big plastic bowls and balls. Ponds Cold Cream and the packets of cream biscuits were given to all the children at the end of the activity. Samosas and cold-drinks were served as usual. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided and accompanied the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Utthan Lab.

SANSMARAN – 2016, The I.T.S Alumni Meet, of our Institute for IT Courses was organized on Saturday, 03rd December, 2016 from 05.30 PMonwards at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad Campus. The Alumni Meet – 2016, was formally inaugurated by lamp lighting by Shri. Arpit Chadha, Honorable Vice Chairman – I.T.S The Education Group, Dr. A.K. Puri – Director General, I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad and Dr. Vineet Kansal – Director, I.T.S Engineering College. On this occasion Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey – Chairperson Alumni & Director (IT) of I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, Director (UG Campus) – Dr. Vidya Sekhri and Vice Principal (UG Campus) – Dr. S. Bhattacharya were also present. Director General, I.T.S, Ghaziabad in his address welcomed the Alumni and expressed her happiness over large participation of Alumni in Alumni Meet.

Vice Chairman - I.T.S The Education Group Shri Arpit Chadha, while addressing the gathering welcomed the Alumni and said that Alumni Meet is an event where our Alumni get an opportunity and refresh old memories at institute, to meet their own batch mates, to their juniors and above all to visit their institute from where they started their professional journey of their career.
This year the experience sharing by Alumni of Senior Batches was also introduced, on the advice of Honorable Vice Chairman Sir. Some of the Alumni of senior batches of MCA, MIS and BCA shared their experience and addressed the gathering. It was well taken and appreciated by Alumni. 
In his address, the Director (IT) & Chairperson – Alumni said that every year increased number of participation of Alumni from various courses in such meets shows the love, affection and strong emotional bonding between Institute and it’s passed out students.
With an objective of bringing our old students back to institute and provide them a platform for reviving old memories at the institute, meeting with their faculty members & own classmates, sharing and exchanging views, ideas and experiences, every year on 1st Saturday of December, institute organizes this Alumni Meet. Every year increased participation of alumni from all the batches from all the courses of the institute is evidence to the emotional attachment and connects of the students with the institute. The uniqueness of this year’s meet was the presence of alumni from all the batches of various courses of the institute, who came to institute after 14 or 16 years after they passed out from institute. 
In this Alumni Meet all the passed out batches of MCA, MIS, MIT Programs and all the batches of BCA passed out till 2014 from the beginning of the course were invited. Separate Registration Desks were set-up MCA/MIT/MIS and BCA Programs. Registration of the Alumni Meet – 2016 started at 05.30 PM.

Prof. Anuja Roy presented Case at International Conference On Management Cases at BIMTECH.


Prof. Anuja Roy presented a teaching case titled : “ MART: A Business Enterprise With Social Heart” in the International Conference On Management Cases (ICMC) 2016 Organized by BIMTECH in association with George Masson University- Schar School of Policy & Government, Arlington, Virginia, USA on December 1-2, 2016 at Bimtech campus.

ICMC 2016 aimed at international relevance and encouraged case writers from all over the world to participate and share their experiences on a platform created for academicians, practitioners, consultants, research scholars and students of management studies. The event focussed on the central theme of “Case Development to Encourage Transformational Learning.”

Keynote speaker for the session was Trevor Williamson from The Case Centre. Trevor emphasized on the case teaching method as one of the important pedagogical tools in management teaching. He focussed on teaching through a process of transferring a case idea into a teaching case, a teaching note and a teaching plan.

The Conference has been a great platform to learn, share and connect with delegates from all over the world.

Volunteers of the day – Ritu Nautiyal, Vipin Singh, Shivani Bhatt, Aditi Maheshwari, Abhishek Rana, Satyapal Yadav, Arif Hussain and Satender Rana (Dev) started the activity with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.

This revision class included the counting from 1 to 100 in Hindi and English, followed by the descriptive Hindi alphabets. This was followed by the practice of the tables of 2, 3, 4 and 5 oral and written both.
Second session of the day was self-introduction including – name, place, father’s name, mother’s name, school name and hobbies. The purpose of the self-introduction was to make sure that the little children are ready and capable of sharing the basic information about them so that in case of an emergency or getting lost somewhere, they can at least introduce themselves.
The children also enjoyed the learning and practice of two Hindi poems – Hathi Raja and Tota (Parrot).
The class ended with the distribution of Mango Bite Chocolates, Anmol cream biscuits and chips among all children. Volunteers Arif Hussain and Satyapal Yadav conducted the activity effectively.

The children could easily relate the class with the current scenario of demonetization and its various good and bad aspects.

Volunteers of the day – Richa Sharma, Pallavi Rajput, Neha Srivastava, Vikash Sahani, Sumit Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Barik, Vikas Babu, Arif Hussain and Satender Rana (Dev) started the activity with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.
The first session of the day was ‘Money Management’. The children were told what Currency is and about the different currencies of various countries. They were also briefed about the importance of day to day small savings and were suggested to develop a habit of dropping extra-money into the piggy banks which will become big at the end of the year. It was elaborated with examples how their Gullak becomes the good luck in future. A passing reference of demonetization was also made to make the children understand the present day scenario across the country.
They also revised English alphabet and counting. The class ended with the distribution of Taka-tak, biscuits and chocolates among all children.

Industrial Visit for MBA (2016-18) batch to Anmol Bakers Pvt Ltd, Greater Noida,UP


Department of Management of Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad, has organized an industrial visit to Anmol Bakers Pvt Ltd, Greater Noida, UP on 18th November, 2016, for its new batch of MBA students (2016-18). It was started from the Institutional premises at 10:00 am and students reached to Industrial unit at 11:30 am. After reaching the site we were escorted by plant manager Mr Prasant to visit the plant. Mr Prasant take the group to the manufacturing plant and demonstrated the process of manufacturing the biscuits step by step. He explains each stages very nicely how the process takes place. Students had eaten the fresh biscuits which were manufactured at that time. It was a great experience which students had explored.

Best Paper Award ws given to Dr. K.N. Mishra from BIT - MESRA, Dr. S.C. Pandey, BIT MESRA and Dr. Sanjay Singh from Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, Uttrakhand.
The Conference was concluded with a grand success witnessing participation of International Guests, Delegates, large number of delegates, Research Scholars and students of UG & PG Programs.
