Utthan Club Activity

Utthan, a CSR initiative of Department of Management at I.T.S - Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organised a session on Computer literacy and activities for celebrating "Republic Day” for school children on 24th January, 2020 in the campus.
In the first segment of the activity, students were taken to computer lab to practice “MS Word” using different tools like Alignment, Bold, Color, Highlight etc.
In the second session, students were divided in groups according to their class standards. For Class 1st to 4th, Ball in the Basket competition was organized, for class 5th to 8th Pyramids of Cups was conducted, and for 8th to 12th class, watch and think was organized.
Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director (Management) inspired the children with her motivational speech.
Dr. Vidya Sekhri and Faculty Coordinator of Utthan Club along with student team felicitated the event by distributing Prizes to all the winners of the activity.
All the students were given refreshment at the end of the session.
Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

Department of Management, I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad conducted ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme observing the 71st Republic Day of the country last Sunday. First Suhani and Ananya explained the significance of the day to the children. The spoke about what goes into making a democratic republic. They also described the role of the Constitution of India.
Then Sudhanshu and Neha took over as they discussed an important element of the Constitution, viz., - the Fundamental Rights. They mentioned that this part of the Constitution has often been referred to as Udhar ki Potli, as it had been devised after going through the constitutions of several nations around the world. Flags of the ten countries from where inputs were utilised for our Constitution had been thoughtfully created by the students. The learners were asked to identify the flags of the different countries. Sudhanshu helped them in this task.
Finally Nikhil took it upon himself to enlighten the kids about the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Particular attention was drawn to his pioneering work in giving shape to the Constitution as it is today.
This year marked the beginning of a new initiative at Parivartan – Annual Gala event "Student of the Year" Awards. The criteria used for this purpose included regular attendance, coming with copy and pen every Sunday and performance during the sessions, continuously for the entire year 2019.
The year’s first prize winner Sonu received a second hand laptop which had been refurbished and donated by the Faculty Coordinator himself, loaded with educational movies, photos and useful software.
Second prize winner Nitin received a brand new Bluetooth speaker, contributed by faculty coordinator and volunteers.
Third prize winner Kushi received a brand new School bag, donated by faculty coordinator.
The celebrations finally drew to a close with the distribution of samosas, laddoos and ‘Milk Glucose Biscuits’.
The idea behind The Parivartan Annual award ceremony is to inculcate the importance of education among the students and also to motivate them for their continuous efforts so as to have a chance of winning the award in the next upcoming year.
Genesis 2020 the Inter-College Business Plan Competitionin

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad organised Genesis 2020 the Inter-College Business Plan Competitionin collaboration with MHRD IIC on 24th January, 2020.
The competition was expected to serve as a platform where students from different higher education institutes (HEIs) would come together to discuss their ideas for innovative start-up ventures.
The Inaugural Session started with the Welcome Address by Dr.VidyaSekhri, Director Management and President, IIC. Dr Sekhri extended a warm welcome to the honourable Chief Guest of the session, Mr.Sant Kumar Gautam, CEO UDYAM, Guests of Honour Dr. Sanjeev Layek, Executive Secretary, World Association For Small and Medium Enterprises(WASME) andMr.Vishal Gandhi, Managing partner & CEO BIORx Venture Advisors Pvt Ltd. During the course of the address, Dr.Sekhrifocused on why start-up culture was necessary. She pointed out that it was a passion, and had to come from a certain mindset.
Dr. Indraneel Mandal, Coordinator (Startups), IIC I.T.S, provided an overview of the day’s event. He explained that the function was being held under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD); the latter had started on a mission of setting up Institution Innovation Councils(IICs)in select HEIs for nurturing ideas from young minds. He also spoke of the support from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
It was now the turn of the Guests of Honour Dr. Sanjeev Layek began by thanking Director Management and ITS for initiating this type of competition which would help to give a new dimension to the start-up world. He referred to three things to be kept in mind, viz., research, data collection and society. He also threw some light on the three verticals of business – credit, technology and markets. Finally he reminded of the need for passion and a never say die attitude for succeeding in the world of start-ups.
Mr Vishal Gandhi then come forward for an engrossing speech where he constantly interacted with the students in the audience while delineating the salient aspects that determined the success of business endeavours, including capital budgeting, lack of proper management, the difficulty of ascertaining appropriate market size and dynamics.
Finally it was the turn of the Chief Guest Mr S.K. Gautam, who started by saying that every day is a new learning He drew attention to the fact that there were abundant opportunities in a country like India. He cautioned that while marketing research is very important, it often fails due to loopholes in data collection. He suggested that it was necessary to have a good team with diverse experts.
The session ended with Dr.Vidya Sekhri presenting a memento to Mr.Gautam as a token of appreciation.
After the Inaugural Session, business plan presentations took place in two sessions. The first session had Dr. Sanjeev Layek, Mr. Vishal Gandhi and Mr. Sant Kumar Gautam as external judges. Dr. K. K. Dey was present as the internal judge.
Khushboo and Shikha, who were the anchors for the session, welcomed the judges and described the rules to the participants and to the audience. With that the students who were present there from the different colleges started their presentations in their series.
NIT, Greater Noida, flagged off the competition with their presentation on Virtual Villa, an application that brought together imagination and software expertise for visualising homes before starting work on their construction. They were followed by ShyamLal College with their business plan on Brand Deviser for helping entrepreneurs by guiding them to develop businesses and a new market for fashion designers; a team from ITS Mohan Nagar with Luxurious Footpath, offering a means for aggregating street food vendors at one outdoor location; a team from IMS, Ghaziabad with Nimble Beverages, providing the option of an instant food mix for a healthy breakfast; and a second team from IMS, Ghaziabad, whose presentation was on Third- Eye Solutions, involving smart canes for the visually impaired.
The post lunch session started with the felicitation of Dr. Sanjeev Layek by Dr. Vidya Sekhri. The presentations in this session featured a second team from Shyam Lal College with the idea of Paryojya, focusing on the handicrafts sector with a touch of sustainability; Jaipuria School of Business with the innovative concept of 56 Bhog, a women driven food delivery initiative; a team from ITS Mohan Nagar speaking on ISE - The Power of Nature, with a low cost mission for providing green power in rural areas; HIET College with Take spoon, the edible but healthy spoon that could be ecofriendly as well as cost effective; and finally, another team from ITS with Aaha Re, a unique way of satisfying taste buds longing for authentic Bengali food.
Following the presentations Mr. Gautamand Mr. Gandhiappreciated and congratulated all the participants for their efforts and gave tips to all the students on the startups and their business plans. With that all the judges along with Dr. Vidya Sekhri were invited on the stage for declaration of the result and prize distribution.
1st Prize was won byAnkit Meghmala & Vikash Kumar (I.T.S Mohan Nagar). Hema & Team from Shyamlal College were declared First Runner Up. Harsh & Team, also from Shyamlal College, took the 2nd Runner Up position. The prizes and certificates were handed out by the dignitaries onstage.
Dr.Sekhri also felicitated Mr Gandhi for his gracious presence throughout the day’s programme.
In the end Dr. Puneet Kumardeliveredthe Vote Of Thanks on the behalf of IIC ITS.
The participants went home ruminating on the valuable advice from the dignitaries present. The students in general also marveled at the variety of ideas and presentations, inspired with some thoughts of their own.

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad organised a webcast from SHRM on “From Chief People Officer to Chief Employee Experience Officer was hosted for the PGDM Third Semester students at the Board Room, AB-I Building in the afternoon of 22nd January, 2020.
The speakers for the session were Dr. Raju Mistri, Global Chief People Officer, Cipla, Mr.Praveen Menon, Chief People Officer, India First Life Insurance Company Ltd and Mr.Deepak Mishra, Vice President Corporate HR United Breweries Ltd. The moderator for the session was Mr. Ashish Paul, Associate Director Knowledge and advisory SHRM, India.
The topics included areas like history of organisations, experiences of employees, HR philosophy, flexibility in organizations, CHRO roles, strategic practices in organizations, use of collaborative technologies, cross functional collaboration andcreating employee experience
Dr. Mistritalked about hindering positive employee experience, and what can organization can do to make the employees happy. She spoke of empowering the managers, the need for instant quick responses, immediate solutions to the problems, making decisions and the difference between the corporate and manufacturing world
Mr.Praveen Menon dealt with employee life cycle from the beginning of pre hiring of employee till the end of entry and exit. Mr. Deepak Mishra referred to the experience of customers and internal employees.
Finally Mr. Ashish Paul summarized the interaction by putting forth ideas about questionnaires regarding the employee value preposition, AI, HR Philosophy, flexibility in an organisation, strategic/ elements used in an organisation, CHRO roles and employee experiences. He also asked about company stability and techniques used in an different organisations.
It was a comprehensive discussion covering a wide range of issues. The students were very much enthused to have such a holistic view of HR at work inside the organization.

Research Conclave 2020

The Department of Management at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar organized Research Conclave on 5 Trillion Dollar Economy: Targets And Challenges for New India, on January 18, 2020. The program was inaugurated with the lighting of lamp to pay homage to the divine Goddess Saraswati, followed by welcoming of the guests by giving away plant saplings.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director Management (PG). She emphasized on the objectives of the topic. She also explains the initiatives taken by the Government of India in various aspects like urbanization, globalisation, banking, manufacturing, agriculture etc along with their challenges
.
This was followed by a special address by Shri Surinder Sood, Director (PR). He talked about the role of aspirations, the gap between where we are and our goals, the need for self-driven people, rise in investment rates, etc. He also said that 5 trillion dollar economy is not an impossible dream as it can be easily achieved by the country by 2024.
Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice-Chairmen, I.T.S-The Education Group also pointed out the various facts provided by the Prime Minister as well as the Finance Minister in support of the fact that a country like India will become a global economic power house after achieving this goal, along with the challenges involved in his address on this occasion.
The Convener of the Conclave Dr. Rajeev Johari gave overview of the Conclave, its theme and agenda he also gave the brief introduction of all the speakers in the panel discussions to follow.
Mr. Yaduvendra Mathur, IAS, Special Secretary NITI Aayog, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion, explained through several facts and figures the steps to be taken by the people of the country for the future development. He also quipped that reality is harsh but can be created as the future depends upon the choices made by the people today itself, quoting several examples.
Finally the Guest of Honour Mr. Vijay Kumar, Director MSME, Ministry of MSME, Government of India shared his words of wisdom. He explained beautifully the working of MSME and also the steps taken by the same. He went on to mention that how MSME is helping and appreciating the entrepreneurs. In conclusion he said that challenge is to grow 8% to 9% every year in order to achieve the long term goals and move beyond the poverty line. The session concluded with the felicitation the guest by giving token of gratitude and respect to all the eminent guest of the day.
During Panel I, Dr. Vidya Sekhri welcomed the chief guests by presenting plant saplings to Mr. Ravi Nandan Sinha (Director, MSME Business Forum India), Dr. Sharad Kohli (Founder and Chairman, KCC Group), Dr. Ganesh Singh (Professor, AIMA) and Mr. Nishant Ranjan(Manager, RBI, Kanpur Division).
Mr. Ravi Nandan Sinha was the moderator of this session. The discussion was started by Dr. Sharad Kohli. He highlighted that it is always good to look at larger objectives. He also pointed out the according to the latest estimates 29% of Country’s GDP comes from MSMEs.
According to him we need to focus on - how Micro will become Small, Small will become Medium and ultimately Medium becomes Large industry. He also stated the reason behind the failure of 90% of the start-ups was the lack of orientation and patience.
Among the other panelists Dr. Ganesh Singh shared his views and stated that awareness is the key to know the avenues for developing our start-ups.
Mr. Ravi Nandan Sinha adding to these points gave a message to the students that talent and strength should be harnessed.
Dr. V. N. Bajpai, Chairperson PGDM, said that achieving 5 trillion dollar economy is not a dream, but rather a reality. Innovation and Technology are the two drivers that will contribute in achieving this dream according to him, also role of individuals is very important to develop such ecosystem.
Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director (Management), mentioned that in a dynamic world we can see that marketing has totally changed. She also reminded that data protection plays an important role.
Finally Mr. Nishant Ranjan through his presentation shared ideas about offences relating to counterfeiting of bank notes, Detection and impounding of counterfeit notes, the role of thr RBI in currency management and its latest initiatives.
At the end of the first panel discussion, Director Management Dr. Vidya Sekhri presented Memento to honourable Chief guests as a token of respect and honour.
During Panel Session II, Director Management Dr. Vidya Sekhri welcomed the chief guests by presenting plant saplings to the eminent speakers for the session. Eminent Speakers of this session included Dr M.K. Bajpayee, Co-Chairman, National Educational Policy, ASSOCHAM; Mr Amit Sinha, DGM, RBI Kanpur; Dr Sudha Mysore, CEO, Agrinnovate India Limited, ICAR–IIHR; Mr Rajendra Srivastav(President & Market Business Leader for AES India); Mr Naveen Tandon, Director International External Affairs, AT&T India and Mr. S.P. Yadav, Lead District Manager, Syndicate Bank, Ghaziabad.
The moderator of this session was Dr MK Bajpayee, who started the discussion by stating that India needs integration in all departments.
Followed this Dr. Sudha Mysore shared her views explaining how ICAR had started the policy of innovation.
Mr. Manu Goyal suggested that the problem lies in the implementation of schemes. He said that to implement any policy integration is the foremost thing. According to him mentioned that pillars to grow economy are innovation, integration and implementation.
Mr. Rajendra Srivastava indicated that digitisation is the most important tool that businesses are adopting.
Mr. Amit Sinha from RBI said that the 5 trillion dollar economy goal is difficult but not impossible. The challenges to reach this target are Global Growth, the need for fiscal action, problems in tourism growth and support for the infrastructure sector. The primary objective highlighted in this connection was price stability.
Mr. Naveen Tandon said that the focus needed to be on where are we today and what are the current challenges. The panel discussion was closed with Mr.Tandon saying that communication will help to move business forward.
At the end of panel discussion Director Management Dr. Vidya Sekhri presented mementos to guests as a token of respect and appreciation.
In the end Dr. Indraneel Mandal delivered the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the organisers.
Management students visited Aaj Tak

I.T.S – Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organised a visit of MBA & PGDM first year students to Aaj Tak, on 17th January,2020.
The students of MBA and PGDM first year visited Aaj Tak channel for the HALLA - BOL and DANGAL on 17 JANUARY, 2020. The day’s programme consisted of two sessions. The first session is for “Narendra Per Sawal Hai, NIA Per Bawal Hai.” The second session of the day was a debate on the issue of CAA.
Some of the famous politicians and social workers were invited and there was huge discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of CAA .There was also a discussion on “Seher Seher - Shaheen Bagh.” Muslim women were assembled there to not to support CAA and they were against CAA . They were clearly saying that “we will not leave this place until unless Modi ji not stop this act. Because we are also the citizens of India and we also have proof ID for that.”
The women’s were very aggressive and they were sitting there with small children. All family women were outside on the road (shaheen bagh) to protect and get their rights .Guest who were invited were also doing the cross questioning with them .Students were asking different questions to the speakers.
Overall it was a knowledgeable session and students were also came to know about the history of CAA .In particular , the students were very excited to be a part of such an experience.

2-Weeks AICTE Sponsored Faculty Development Programme

Department of IT, I.T.S , Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized 2-weeks AICTE Sponsored Faculty Development Programme
on “The FDP was inaugurated by Dr. M.M Pant renowned Academician, Researcher, Scientist & Former Pro-Vice Chancellor & Founder Chairman of PlanetEdu. After inaugural ceremony Dr. Pant took one session on “Changing landscape of Application Development & Emerging Technology”. He talked about the changing scenario of technology from floppy drives to Cloud based applications.
Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey had also taken session on “Introduction to IoT: Its Applications and Scope” While addressing the participants Dr. Pandey said that application of IoT in mobile app development can lead to a greater efficiency and better utilization of resources and this integration will automate several processes which will give way to more smart cities.
While addressing the gathering Dr. Rahul Johri, GGSIPU, Dwarika discussed on Security Aspects of IoT.
On Day 2 Prof. Abhay Kr. Ray took the session on “Introduction sensors, actuators ,boards : its applications and Technical Aspects Hardware and Software Components for IoT”. He also demonstrated the use of sensors and registers used while connecting devices with mobile phones. He also took hands-on session on Reading data from sensor and serial port and programming in details. Participants were happy while performing practical in IoT Lab.
On Day 3 & Day 4, Mr. Umang Kejriwal ,IoT Technical Expert took practical sessions on Introduction to Integration of IoT application with cloud using ESP8266 chip, Ultrasonic sensor, push button & buzzer and integration of IoT with Mobile Apps using ESP8266 chip. Participants were allocated individual IoT kits to perform practical. He also discussed about accessing the cloud data from IoT board. He also took some hands-on session on Creating own API to store sensor data using AWS using AWS , PHP and Mysql.
On Day 5 Dr. Rahul Johri, GGSIPU, Dwarika took session on Security aspects on IoT.
On Day 6 Professor & Dean(IT), JNU, New Delhi, Dr. T V Vijay Kumar took session on “Bigdata and its Applications” . He very nicely discussed about the life history of data implementation from databases to Big Data. He said that in recent years there has been demand of Big Data technology due to the growth of social media networks , the cloud and smart phones. Nowadays organizations are taking help of Bigdata analytics to take future decisions.
On Day 7 Mr. Pankaj Singh
On Day 8 Dr. Suneet Gupta from Bannet University, Greater Noida took session on Deep Learning Research Dimension. He also discussed about the Neural Networks in perspective of Research Development. He said that faculty members should also think about the research in Neural network which can be connected with artificial intelligence.
On Day 8 Dr. Ashish Arya, Gurukul Kangdi University, Haridwar took session on Tools for Data Collection, Steps of Research Methodology, Different Statistical Techniques for Data Analysis, Graphical Representation of Data, Parametric and Non Parametric Tests, 1-Sample Sign Test, Friedman test, Run Test, Mann- Whitney, Wilcoxon Test.
On Day 9 all the participants of the FDP were taken for Delhi Darshan where they visited many historical places like Raj Ghat, India Gate, Bawli and Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. All the participants were happy to visit these places. It was a full day visit.
On Day 10 Dr. Ashish Arya, Professor, Gurukul Kangdi University, Haridwar took session on “Tools for Data Collection, Steps of Research Methodology, Different Statistical Techniques for Data Analysis”. He also discussed about 1-Sample Sign Test, Friedman test, Run Test, Mann- Whitney, Wilcoxon Test. This session was also full of new learning about statistical tools used during research work.
On Day 11 Dr. Vishnu, Professor, IIT, Roorkee took session on SSPS : T-Test One Sample, Two Sample & Paired T- Test, Z-Test, One way ANOVA, Two Way ANOVA. He also discussed some examples where using ANOVA participants solve the problems. This session was also full of learning new concepts of statistical tools.
At the end of 2-weeks faculty development Programme valedictory session was organized where Sh. Upkar Singh, Director Technology, FIS Global was the chief guest of session. During this ceremony Vice Chairman, I.T.S-The Education Group, Sh Arpit Chadha, Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey, Vice Principal, ITS-UG Campus, Prof. Nancy Sharma and Session Speaker of the day Dr. Vishnu was also present. While addressing the participants , Sh. Arpit Chadha congratulated Director-IT and the coordinators of the FDP for well organizing and concluding the 2-weeks Faculty Development Programme where participants from all over the country had attended this FDP.
While addressing the gathering Sh. Upkar Singh said that Department of IT is always ready to give opportunities to its students as well as faculty members. He said that such FDPs make faculty members updated and ready to deliver new content in the classrooms.
At the end of the valedictory Session, Vice Chairman, ITS-The Education Group, Sh. Arpit Chadha, Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey, Vice Principal, ITS-UG Campus, Prof. Nancy Sharma and Session Speaker of the day Dr. Vishnu distributed the certificate of participation among the participants. The valedictory session was followed by lunch.
This FDP was coordinated by Prof. Saurabh Saxena, Prof. K P Singh, Prof. Puja Dhar, Prof. Varun Arora, Prof. Abhay Kr. Ray, Dr. Sandeep Garg and Dr. Charu Malhotra.
Overall the 2-weeks AICTE sponsored FDP ended on a success note.

Faculty of Department of Management, Dr. Puneet Kumar and Prof. Shikha Agarwal attended workshop on CSR: Ensuring Compliance and Maximizing Impact organized on January 10, 2020
at UNESCO Cluster office, New Delhi. The workshop aimed at better preparing the corporates, both profit and non- profit organization for current and emerging mandate on CSR. The resource persons for the workshop included Mr. Nikhil Pant- CDO- REACHA, Former Chief Program Executive, IICA, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, GOI and Mr. Bobbymon George, Visiting faculty, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Principal- Assessment, Sattva Consulting.
As we all are aware that CSR is a mandatory practice for corporates, at the same time its compliance becomes a very tedious and engaging job. Corporates facing challenges in compliance and managing their CSR budgets need awareness and education about the CSR law, various provisions and recent amendments. Mr. Nikhil informed and guided about recent amendments and developments regarding CSR law in India. He highlighted the importance of evaluating or assessing the impact of corporates’ social development program. It will not only help them to align inter- departmental subsystems such as legal, finance, procurement and CSR, but will also help them evaluate the impact they are making towards community development. Further, Mr. Bobbymon guided on the various frameworks and program run by Sattva for assessment of CSR impact. It was a very insightful and enriching experience.
