Staff Development Program on “Advanced Excel”

Department of Management at I.T.S Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad organized the Staff Development Program on “Advanced Excel” for the staff members on 24th June 2022.

Advanced Excel Functions refers to the features and functions of Microsoft Excel, which help the user to perform complex calculations, perform data analysis, and much more. The objective of this SDP was to improve the day-to-day efficiency of Staff personnel by making them well versed in various operations of MS Excel.

The speakers of the session were Prof. Sunil Upadhyay and Prof. Mansi Singh, who trained the staff on using advanced excel to bring creativity that leads to innovative ideas and solutions. They used various advanced excel tools like Conditional Formatting, Index, Pivot table, VLOOKUP, and HLOOKUP for effective learning.  They emphasized on lookup and pivot table function of excel for day-to-day operational activities.  A total of 20 staff members participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the session.

The staff development program was highly interactive, and participants were enthusiastically involved throughout the training.

The session turned out to be very informative for the participants.

FDP on “Methodology for Advanced Research and Quality Publication” attended Management faculty

Prof. Shikha Aggarwal participated and completed One week Faculty Development Programme on “Methodology for Advanced Research and Quality Publication” organized by Birla School of Commerce, Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar during March 21 – 25, 2022.

 

 

The FDP had various eminent resource person through the span of entire week who talked about various aspects of advanced research methodology. Content analysis, hypothesis testing, pre-requisites for High quality publications, tools and techniques including Hands- on session on SPSS and R studio were some major topics taught during the program. The session during the week were well- planned and the content was also extremely useful for enhancing better research prospects. Management faculty attended a one- week FDP organized by IIT- Guwahati

Prof. Parul Gupta, Faculty of Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad, attended a 6- day Virtual FDP on ‘Mentoring Pedagogy and Teaching for Higher Education’ from 19thJuly – 24thJuly 2021,

organized by the E&ICT Academyof IIT- Guwahati. The online FDP witnessed participation from 50 selected Faculty members from across India. The resource person of the program was Mr. Anjan Chowdhury, Managing Director- Indian Skill Academy and Empanelled member of E&ICT Academy, IIT- Guwahati. The details of the topics covered are mentioned below-

Management faculty attended ATALFDP on "Quantification of Human Resource with HR Analytics’"

Prof. Ritu Saxena, Faculty of Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad, attended a 5- day Virtual AICTET Training  and Learning (ATAL) Academy

Online Elementary FDP on “Quantification of Human Resource with HR Analytics’" from 19.07.2021 to 23.07.2021 at DATTA MEGHE INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES.

The online FDP witnessed participation from 80 selected Faculty members from across India. The resource person of the program was Ms. Megha Dixit, DGM – HR & Training, Cancer Hospital, Bombay & Dr. Rahul Pratap Singh Kaurav , Assistant Professor, Prestige institute of Management, Gwalior.  The details of the topics covered were Business Analytics-The HR Perspective, Business Understanding for HR Initiatives , HR Balance Score Card, Data Analytics with tool pak , HR Analytics- Tableau .

There were daily assignments given by the organizing Institutions. At the end of the training program one test was also conducted, in which it was mandatory to achieve minimum 60% marks.  This was a great learning experience for me while attending all the sessions and it would definitely help me in my teaching-learning process in the field of HR analytics.

It was highly interactive with practical applications of analytics and Tableau. The resource person being a HR Analytics trainer, brought his valuable knowledge and applications to the discussion and created deep learning during the entire  FDPprogram.

E- International faculty development Program on “‘Advanced Research Methods: Enabling Quality Research Publications’.

In its endeavour to assist the academic fraternity in achieving excellence in quality publications, Management Department I.T.S Ghaziabad organised a five-day International Faculty Development Program on the focal theme of “Advanced Research Methods Enabling Quality Research publications”. The virtual platform of E-IFDP hosted International speakers of high repute and was attended by more than 200 faculty members and research scholars from 24 states of India and from 18 other countries like U.S.A, Africa, Bahrain, Kuwait, Philippines, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Nigeria and Oman and Turkey.

Day1

The inaugural session of the E-IFDP was initiated by the welcome address of Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director Management Department at I.T.S Ghaziabad. Dr. Sekhri emphasised the importance of quality publications for the academic fraternity. She also mentioned that how in this pandemic situation the technology has actually armed us with numerous opportunities which can always be utilised for better performances.  The digital platform of E-IFDP was graced by the presence of Shri. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman I.T.S- The Education Group. Shri Arpit Chadha gave the message of technology adoption with a purpose. In his message Shri. Arpit Chadha touched upon various aspects of how this COVID situation can be turned into opportunity for all. Dr. Anusha Agarwal, E-IFDP Coordinator presented the overview of the five-day FDP.

Prof. (Dr.) Edward R Lawrence- College of Business, Florida International University, Miami, USA delivered the inaugural address. Prof. Lawrence highlighted the importance of formulating a research problem before embarking upon writing a research article.

Prof. (Dr.) David Petrie- Adjunct Business professor with Concordia Universities, Portland and Chicago, delivered the first session of the Day where he highlighted the importance of Industry- academia collaboration for research.

Attaining proficiency in Literature Review is one of the keys to write a quality research paper.  Prof. (Dr.) Lloyd Scott- Head Knowledge in Sustainable Construction Practice Research Group at Technological University Dublin, Ireland gave some useful and pertinent information on “Literature Review – How to do it right”

Day 2

Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Krishnamurthy- Dean at University of Washington (Bothell) School of Business Kirkland, Washington, USA, delivered a highly interactive session on the topic Truth Claims and Causality in Academic Research. He very well explained to the participants about cause, effect, moderating and mediating effects in research.

Prof. (Dr.) Dileep Kumar M., Professor Research, Strategy, Entrepreneurship and OB, Africa Business School, Mohamed VI Polytechnic University, Africa gave highly useful information on “Instrumentation in Research: Adaption, Adoption and Development” He discussed all three methods of Instrumentation in detail by taking examples from high quality research papers.

 

Day 3

Prof. V. Shekhar Accredited Management Teacher by AIMA, India was the keynote speaker. Prof. Shekhar has been an alumni of BITS Pilani and IIT Kolkata. He has over two decades of rich academic and corporate experience.

Prof. V. Shekhar painstakingly took all efforts to explain all the technicalities associated with SPSS.  Prof. Shekhar took numerous examples and shared some worksheets with the participants so that the participants can have hands on learning with the tool.

Day 4

Prof. (Dr.) Roy SembelProfessor Distinguished Chair at IPMI International Business School, Indonesiadiscussed the various ways by which academic research in management can be more useful and relevant. Dr. Roy augmented the discussion of research just becoming a ‘paper production function’ and not being able to fruitfully contribute to the business needs. Therefore, he urged to the young researchers and faculty colleagues to learn to step out of their comfort zone and engage with the real world.

Day 5

Session 1:

Dr. Ivan Zupic - Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths University of London, UK took an interesting session on Bibliometric analytics. For any researcher the task of writing a research article / paper cannot be completed until due attention is given to referencing and Bibliometric.  Dr.Zupic introduced various software for the same which can be used by the researchers in their work. Apart from sharing tips and techniques for Bibliometric analysis Dr.Zupic also discussed the nuances of citations which have become a very important parameter for quality publication.

Session 2

The second session on day 5 was taken by Dr.Souha Akiki Svahn- Founder Paris Graduate School, France on a very contemporary issue of “Research in ethics”. As it is widely known that with the growing number of publications in the academics, the issue of ethics has gained utmost importance. Dr.Souha highlighted the moral conduct which the authors should undertake. She advised that the authors should stay away from falsification and fabrication of the data and maintain high level of ethical standards.

The valedictory session of 5-day E-IFDP had the benign presence of Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman I.T.S- The Education Group. Shri Arpit Chadha applauded the success of the 5-day E-IFDP. Director Management Department Dr. Vidya Sekhri proposed the vote of thanks. Virtual Plaques were presented to all the speakers at the end of their respective sessions. Participant delegates appreciated the overall coordination and the smooth conduct of the entire program.

 The entire program was conceptualised and executed by Dr. Anusha Agarwal, Dr.Charu Chaudhry and Prof Parul Gupta.

Staff Development Program on “Virtual Communication Techniques using Technology”

Prof. Yachna Malhotra of I.T.S - Ghaziabad conducted an Online Staff Development on "Virtual Communication Techniques (using Technology) for the Staff members of Registrar office of Mohan Nagar Campus.

Director Management Dr. Vidya Sekhri share her opening remarks with the participants by highlighting the emerging need and understanding of Virtual Communication and Technical tools for the smooth conduct of Online Education.
The participants were made familiar with the virtual Communication and virtual meetings. The Rules and Guidelines to carry out effective virtual meetings were also discussed. To make participants confident to conduct Virtual meetings the demonstration of Online Platforms like Google meet and Zoom was given by Prof. Yachna Malhotra by using both laptop and their Smart phones.

To overcome the challenges during this pandemic phase of Covid-19, I.T.S Ghaziabad is taking all the initiatives by using the technology to make its employees up-skill and effective virtual communicators as well.

Prof. Yachna Malhotra offered thanks to all participants for their patient listening and active participation during the session.

2-Weeks AICTE Sponsored Faculty Development Programme

Department of IT, I.T.S , Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized 2-weeks  AICTE Sponsored Faculty Development Programme

on “The FDP was inaugurated by Dr. M.M Pant renowned Academician, Researcher, Scientist & Former Pro-Vice Chancellor & Founder Chairman of PlanetEdu. After inaugural ceremony Dr. Pant took one session on “Changing landscape of Application Development & Emerging Technology”. He talked about the changing scenario of technology from floppy drives to Cloud based applications.

Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey had also taken session on “Introduction to IoT: Its Applications and Scope” While addressing the participants Dr. Pandey said that application of IoT in mobile app development can lead to a greater efficiency and better utilization of resources and this integration will automate several processes which will give way to more smart cities.

While addressing the gathering Dr. Rahul Johri, GGSIPU, Dwarika discussed on Security Aspects of IoT.  

On Day 2 Prof. Abhay Kr. Ray took the session on “Introduction sensors, actuators ,boards : its applications and Technical Aspects Hardware and Software Components for IoT”. He also demonstrated the use of sensors and registers used while connecting devices with mobile phones. He also took hands-on session on Reading data from sensor and serial port  and programming  in details. Participants were happy while performing practical in IoT Lab.

On Day 3 & Day 4, Mr. Umang Kejriwal ,IoT Technical Expert  took practical sessions on Introduction to Integration of IoT application with cloud   using ESP8266 chip, Ultrasonic sensor, push button & buzzer and integration of IoT with Mobile Apps  using ESP8266 chip. Participants were allocated individual IoT kits to perform practical. He also discussed about  accessing the cloud data from IoT board. He also took some hands-on session on Creating own API to store sensor data using AWS using  AWS , PHP and Mysql.

On Day 5 Dr. Rahul Johri, GGSIPU, Dwarika took session on Security aspects on IoT.

On Day 6 Professor & Dean(IT), JNU, New Delhi, Dr. T V Vijay Kumar took session on “Bigdata and its Applications” . He very nicely discussed about the life history of data implementation from databases to Big Data. He said that in recent years there has been demand of Big Data technology due to the growth of social media networks , the cloud and smart phones. Nowadays organizations are taking help of Bigdata analytics to take future decisions.

On Day 7 Mr. Pankaj Singh

On Day  8 Dr. Suneet Gupta from Bannet University, Greater Noida took session on Deep Learning Research Dimension. He also discussed about the Neural Networks in perspective of Research Development. He said that faculty members should also think about the research in Neural network which can be connected with artificial intelligence.

On Day 8 Dr. Ashish Arya, Gurukul Kangdi University, Haridwar took session on Tools for Data Collection, Steps of Research Methodology, Different Statistical Techniques for Data Analysis, Graphical Representation of Data, Parametric and Non Parametric Tests, 1-Sample Sign Test, Friedman test, Run Test, Mann- Whitney, Wilcoxon Test.

On Day 9 all the participants of the FDP were taken for Delhi Darshan where they visited many historical places like Raj Ghat, India Gate, Bawli and Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. All the participants were happy to visit these places. It was a full day visit.

On Day 10 Dr. Ashish Arya, Professor, Gurukul Kangdi University, Haridwar took session on “Tools for Data Collection, Steps of Research Methodology, Different Statistical Techniques for Data Analysis”. He also discussed about 1-Sample Sign Test, Friedman test, Run Test, Mann- Whitney, Wilcoxon Test. This session was also full of new learning about statistical tools used during research work.

On Day 11 Dr. Vishnu, Professor, IIT, Roorkee took session on SSPS : T-Test One Sample, Two Sample & Paired T- Test, Z-Test, One way ANOVA, Two Way ANOVA. He also discussed some examples where using ANOVA participants solve the problems. This session was also full of learning new concepts of statistical tools.

At the end of 2-weeks faculty development Programme valedictory session was organized where Sh. Upkar Singh, Director Technology, FIS Global was the chief guest of session. During this ceremony Vice Chairman, I.T.S-The Education Group, Sh Arpit Chadha, Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey, Vice Principal, ITS-UG Campus, Prof. Nancy Sharma and Session Speaker of the day Dr. Vishnu was also present. While addressing the participants , Sh. Arpit Chadha congratulated Director-IT and the coordinators of the FDP for well organizing and concluding the 2-weeks Faculty Development Programme where participants from all over the country had attended this FDP.

While addressing the gathering Sh. Upkar Singh said that Department of IT is always ready to give opportunities to its students as well as faculty members. He said that such FDPs make faculty members updated and ready to deliver new content in the classrooms.

At the end of the valedictory Session, Vice Chairman, ITS-The Education Group, Sh. Arpit Chadha, Director-IT, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey, Vice Principal, ITS-UG Campus, Prof. Nancy Sharma and Session Speaker of the day Dr. Vishnu distributed the certificate of participation among the participants. The valedictory session was followed by lunch.

This FDP was coordinated by Prof. Saurabh Saxena, Prof. K P Singh, Prof. Puja Dhar, Prof. Varun Arora, Prof. Abhay Kr. Ray, Dr. Sandeep Garg and Dr. Charu Malhotra.

 

Overall the 2-weeks AICTE sponsored FDP ended on a success note.

MDP on "Rural Marketing - Opportunities and Challenges on 17th – 18th August 2019

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad conducted two days Management Development Program, on “Rural Marketing – Opportunities and Challenges”.

Sr. Prof. Chander Sabharwal was the Convener of this MDP. The objective of the MDP was to sensitize 40 delegates from highly reputed Companies, about developments and opportunities in Rural India. The content of the MDP was carefully structured and reading materials were provided. Highly reputed and well know resource persons were invited to address the MDP, as a value addition.

 

The Inaugural ceremony was bedecked with the prestigious presence of Mr. Pradeep Kashyap, Founder of Rural Marketing & RMAI, MART, in India, Mr.  Pankaj Mishra, Partner MART, Management Consultant New Delhi, Mr. Kamal Kumar, Dhanuka Agrotech Ltd. Gurgaon, Sri. Arpit Chadha,Vice Chairman - I.T.S The Education Group, Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director (Management), Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kr Pandey, Director – I.T and UG and Dr. V N Bajpai, Professor (Marketing Area), Chairperson: PGDM Programme. A total of 40 executives from all over India from Coromandel International Ltd. Mumbai, Indofil Limited, SWAL Corporation LTD,UPL Limited – Mumbai, Dhanuka Agrotech Ltd. Gurgaon, Meghmani Organics Ltd Ahmedabad, Crystal Crop Protection Ltd Delhi, Odika Foods & Naturals LLP and an Ag Start Up from Jodhpur, were registered for MDP.

Our esteemed guest Mr. Pradeep Kashyap and Mr. Pankaj Mishra gave the group an understanding the Rural Markets in India today and tomorrow. Afterward, Sr. Prof Chander Sabharwal discussed the emerging Rural Indian landscape.

Post lunch sessions were on Rural Distribution and Communication delivered by Mr. Kamal Kumar.  Sr. Prof. Chander Sabharwal discussed the case study on “The Commotion”, material from IIM Ahmedabad.

The distinguished guests Dr. Ashok Dalwai, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Chairman Doubling Farmer’s Income,NITI Aayog, enlightened the delegates about the existing and upcoming policies of Government of India and the need for agriculture to be more profitable and technology oriented.A session was conducted by Mr. Mohan Bajikar, Futurologist, Agricultural Scientist, Technology provider Agri House India Pvt. Ltd., regarding the future of agriculture in India that embraced vertical farming, sensors, Geo Bots and Aeroponics technologies. Dr.Udaivir Singh, Author, Thinker and Strategist Agriculture expert, took an interactive session on farmer strategies with the executives, having vast 50 years’ experience behind him in diverse fields. Mr. N.K. Arora, Ex. Senior Management, Bayer Crop Science Ltd., enlightened the delegates from his experience about the changing Distribution models for products to the farmer in past, present and future. Sr. Prof Chander Sabharwal interacted about the issues that are faced by the executives while dealing with the farmers and discussed the solutions. Finally, the MDP, packed with experiential learning, and an insightful discussion concluded with the distribution of certificates. 

MDP was conducted successfully and was a valuable content provider to participants. The Feedback from delegates that was received being “Excellent to Very good” reinforces the planning effort put in by the Department.
