Participation of Faculty-IT in iBharat 2017

Dr. Sunil K. Pandey, Director - IT along with Dr Umang,Prof. Puja Dhar, Prof. A.N. Tripathi, attended 4th iBharat 2017 on 26th October, 2017 at FICCI, New Delhi.

The objective of this event was to engage government and the private sector in exchanging views and deliberate upon achieving India.

i-Bharat 2017 was organized by FICCI in association with Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India. With the theme "ICT elucidation for Unsolved and Unserved", the prime focus of the event was to promote governance through ICT, and further utilizing ICT solutions as the tools for India’s Socio-Economic Transformation.

i-Bharat has already established itself as the leading platform for the digital community to harness the power of ICTs, exchange ideas, knowledge and experience, discuss international best practices, understand investment patterns and opportunities etc.

It was overall good learning experience for faculties.

Participation of Faculty-IT in Education Conclave 2017

Dr. Sunil K. Pandey, Director - IT along with Dr Umang, Prof. A.N. Tripathi, Prof. Gaurav Midha attended 6th Mail Today Education Conclave on 12th October, 2017 at Hotel Hyatt, New Delhi.

The conclave was focused towards the government’s objective to drive the right to education being implemented as a fundamental right. The conclave was packed with the sessions delivered by the eminent speakers from the Academia & Industry.

The welcome address was delivered by Raj Chengappa, Group Editorial Director (Publishing), India Today Group.

The Inaugural address was delivered by Mr Satyapal Singh, Mister of State, HRD. Mr Singh touched upon Child education and discussed about importance of it for transforming a human being into resource for country. He has also added “Every individual needs to be good human being. It does not matter how much he is successful in his professional career?”. The minister said, "While education standards have been maintained in the southern states of our country, the situation remains grim in the northern part of India. It poses a challenge to the government and the quality needs to be upgraded.

The minister said that the government is looking forward to a 'New India' free of four Cs - corruption, crime, casteism and communalism - by imparting affordable and accessible education to all.

Session-2 was Panel Discussion on the theme of “Mining of Ancient India”. In this session, renown authors Amish Tripathi, Anand Neelakantan, Makarand Paranjape, Poet & Professor JNU were present and Abhijit Majumdar, Managing editor, Mail Today was moderator of this session.

Session 3 was Panel Discussion on theme “Higher Education crunch: Imparting skills and employability”. In this discussion, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Noida, Dr. C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, O.P. Jindal Global University, Dr. S.K. Salwan, Vice Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University and Prof. Aditya Shastri, Vice Chancellor, Banasthali Vidyapeeth were present and they have shared their knowledge on theme of session.

Session 4 was Panel Discussion on theme “Focus on comprehensive child development in the age of technology”. In this session, Vanita Sehgal, Principal, DPS R.K. Puram, Rekha Krishnan, Principal, Vasant Valley School, Ameeta Wattal, Principal, Springdales School and Priyanka Mehta, Principal, Amity International School, Mayur Vihar were present and grace the occasion.This session was Moderated by Aditya Berlia, Co-Founder & Pro-Chancellor of the Apeejay Stya University; Member of the Management Board of the Apeejay Stya & Svran Group.

Valedictory Session was addressed by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of Science and Technology & Ministry of Earth Sciences.

Dr. Shuchita attended & paper presented in International Conference at Jamia Millia Islamia.

Dr. Shuchita Singh, faculty at I.T.S Ghaziabad attended & presented paper titled " Behavioural Finance: It's Scope And Perspective" in Second International Finance Conference 2017 at Centre for Management Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi on 11th October, 2017.

The conference was divided in four technical session, and the session on Behavioural Finance was chaired by Dr. Timira Shukla, Professor and Dean at JSB Indirapuram and Dr. Amit Sinha, Associate Professor at Amity Lucknow.The conference was a good learning experience in which participants share their views on the subject.

Management Faculty members Dr. V N Bajpai, Dr. A P Tripathi, Dr. Shuchita Singh and Prof. Parul Gupta attended AIMA's Diamond Jubilee National Management Convention “Folding the Future In: Reimagining India”at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi on 27- 28 September, 2017.

The conclave was organized byAll India Management Association (AIMA). This two day conclave was divided into multiple sessions which covered different dimensions related to the idea of reimagining India’s future.

Faculty attended National Seminar on “Financial Reporting”.

Dr. Anusha Agarwal and Prof. Neetu Purohit from PG Management Department, I.T.S. Mohan Nagar Campus attended ‘National Seminar on Financial Reporting- Transition to IND AS and GST: Challenges & Experiences’ organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 15th September 2017.

The Seminar addressed the issues and challenges faced by the industry in the adoption of the new accounting standards i.e. Ind AS along with the along with the issues and remedies for harmonization of Companies Act with Ind AS and the GST impact on corporate sector.

The various expert speakers who deliberated on the theme during the Inaugural Sessions were Mr. Dipankar Chatterji, Chairman, CII National Committee on Financial Reporting; Mr. P.R. Ramesh, Co-Chair CII National Committee on Financial Reporting, Mr. Amarjit Chopra, Chairman, Natioanl Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards, Susanta Kumar Panda, Member CBEC, Ministry of Finance, Government of India and Mr. Sudhir Soni, Partner Indian Member Firm of EY Global.

Later there were three panel discussions. The First Panel discussion was on ‘Transition to Ind AS- Experience Sharing’. The moderator for the panel was Dr. Sanjeev Singhal, Member, NACAS and Partner, Indian Member firm of EY Global, and the panelists were Mr. Vijay Kumar, Vice Chairman, Accounting Standards Board, ICAI and Chief Financial Officer, SIFY Technologies Ltd.; Mr. Jagannathan Chakravarthi, Chief Financial Officer, Mindtree Limited; Barindra Sanyal, Vice President (Finance), Tata Consultancy Services and Mr. Nitin Gupta, Group Finance Controller, Vedanta Limited. The panelists shared the various experiences of the corporate that have been encountered while implementing IFRS.

The Second Panel discussion was on ‘Harmonization of Companies Act with Ind AS-Issues and Remedies’ which was moderated by Mr. Sanjay Vij, Partner Indian member firm of EY Global and the panelists were Dr. Ashok Haldia, Managing Director & CEO PTC India Financial Services Ltd.; Mr. G. Sriram, Chief Financial Officer Mahindra Comviva; Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Sr. Associate Director-Finance and Company Secretary Panasonic AVC Networks India Co. Ltd. and Mr. Ashish Gupta, Partner Walker Chandiok & Co LLP. The panelists discussed the various issues where there is disharmony in what is envisaged as per Ind AS and as stated in the Companies Act and the possible remedies.

The Third and the last Panel discussion was on ‘GST Impact on Corporate Sector- Disruptions & Way Forward’. The session was moderated by Mr. Bipin Sapra, Partner Indirect Tax EY and the panelists were Mr. Sanjiv Srivastava, Commisioner Central Board of Excise & Customs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India; Mr. Rajeev Yadav, Commissioner, GST Commissionerate CBEC, GOI; Mr. Anil Sharma, Chief Financial Officer, Heidelberg Cement India Ltd. and Mr. Sanjay Gulati, Group Vice President- Corporate Tax-GST GMR Group. The panelists discussed the challenges being faced by industries in transitioning to GST and how there might be further issues in product or service classification and the claim of input tax credited. The faculty found the Seminar highly informative and useful.

Faculty attended 5th NHRDN HR Summit on “HR- THE NEXT WAVE”.

Prof. Shikha Arora and Prof. Ritu Saxena from PG Management Department, I.T.S. Mohan Nagar Campus attended 5th NHRDN HR Summit on “HR- THE NEXT WAVE” on 08-09 September, 2017 at Welcom Hotel Sheraton, Delhi.

More than 160 delegates from Industry and Academia participated in this summit. The summit was conducted in an experience sharing interactive mode, encouraging high level of active dialogue and participation by delegates.

The Summit gave an insight about the challenges and opportunities in Digital HR and Artificial Intelligence. It also focused on topics like managing multi-generational work force, white collar’s IR, HR in Start-ups and Entrepreneurial Firms etc.

On the first day of the Summit, the Inaugural address was presented by Padma Shri Dr. Pritam Singh, a noted management thinker. The first round table members discussed “The digital HR- Challenges and Opportunities”. Panel members presented their ideas on new technology and innovations in this digital era and talked about artificial intelligence and human of ‘HR’. Mr Sunder Rajan, Founder and Director, Thomas Assessment India, took the initiative of second round table discussion on “New DNA of leadership and making an impact on the business through HR”. The discussion was followed by next session titled“IR and Unionization-How do we deal”. And fourth session was conducted on the topic “Wisdom and an edge of Domain expertise. Can we leverage their expertise or allow them to fade into oblivion?”

On the second day of Summit, Keynote address was presented by Mr. S Y Siddiqui, Chief Mentor, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Dr V.P.Singh Advisor-OD, Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd initiated the discussion on the topic“HR in start-ups and social entrepreneurial Firms-Challenges and way ahead.” And summit was concluded with an interesting and exciting management game, conducted by Dr Prem Singh, President Global Human Resources-Wockhardt Ltd.

It was a great learning experience.

Faculty of I.T.S Participated in PRSI National Quiz-2017 at IIMC, New Delhi

On 09.09.2017, four faculty members of ITS- Prof Chandra Mani Sharma, Dr Neel Rai, Prof Alok Singh, and Prof Amit Singh participated in 3rd sequel of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) National Quiz -2017.

There were two teams from I.T.S. One team comprised of Prof Chandra Mani Sharma & Prof Alok Singh. Other team comprised of Dr Neel Rai & Prof Amit Singh.

PRSI is one of the oldest professional societies of India, formally constituted in year 1966. The venue of the Quiz was Indian Institute of Mass Communication, JNU Campus New Delhi. The inauguration of the event was held in the gracious presence of dignitaries including Mrs Nivedita Banerjee, Coordinator of PRSI Quiz, National President of PRSI and the participants from various organizations.

The quiz started with its preliminary round, where 35 teams participated. Renowned quiz master Mr Deepak from IOCL conducted the preliminary and final rounds of quiz. After preliminary round, there was networking tea, in which the faculty members interacted with the quiz master Mr Deepak and other participants.

In the next round, six teams were shortlisted. The teams from I.T.S got the appreciation for their performance from the quiz master Mr Deepak.

The event was a great learning experience and completed with lots of learning.

Dr. Abhinav Tripathi attended & presented a research paper an International seminar

Dr. Abhinav P. Tripathi participation at the international seminar on Management and Computing Technologies Vision 2050held at Ideal Institute of Management & Technology (affiliated under I.P. University), New Delhi on 26th August, 2017.

Dr. Abhinav P. Tripathi (Astt. Prof. Marketing), has presented his research paper titled “Customer orientation of BSNL employee: a variance analysis of SOCO scale” at the international seminar on Management and Computing Technologies Vision 2050held at Ideal Institute of Management & Technology (affiliated under I.P. University), New Delhi.

More than fifty research papers were presented in person across the three different tracks of the seminar. This international seminar inaugurated by Prof. Yogesh Singh (Vice-Chancellor, Delhi Technical University (DTU) along with Prof. Anu Singh Lather (Pro Vice-Chancellor, Delhi Technical University, New Delhi. The seminar get further graced with benign presence of Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya (Chairman, Mewar University), Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Prof. Sanjeev Mittal, Prof. Sunil Khatri and other eminent scholars from research & academic world.

This seminar was conceptualized to create a learning environment about the future of management and technology principles with the current advancement in knowledge and application.
