Guest lecture by Mr. Sunil Kumar, Calpro Foods Essentials Pvt. Ltd. for MBA (2016-18) Batch Students.

On 09th November 2016, a guest talk was organized for the students of MBA First Year (2016-18). The topic of the session was ‘Use of Demand Forecasting in Business Decision making’. Mr. Sunil Kumar, Project and Operations Head, Calpro Foods Essentials Pvt. Limited, had an interactive and informative session with the students wherein he touched upon the role of the tools of demand forecasting in taking day to day business decisions.
 

Mr. Sunil Kumar used MS- Excel to demonstrate how to use data to forecast and make relevant decisions. The numerous examples given by Mr. Kumar as well as his answers to the questions raised by the students, helped in creating a good understanding of the discussion among the students.
The activity was organized in the Auditorium from 11:15 AM onwards. The students took active participation in the session and expressed their eagerness to have such sessions in future as well.

FICCI HR Conference attended by Management Faculty Members.

Dr. D K Pandey, Dr. Charu Choudhry and Prof.Shikha Arora from Management Department attended a Conference organised by The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on human resources titled “HR Best Practices” in New Delhi on 7th and 8th November 2016.

The theme of the conference centred on the changing dynamics of the recruitment industry and how the human resource professionals can implement the best practices in order to nail the very best of talent pool.
The two-day event witnessed presence of HR professionals, corporate leaders, recruiters, academicians, thought leaders and speakers specifically from the HR industry.
Inaugural session was presided over by Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) and managing directors. Speakers included MadhaviLall, Head HR, Deutsche Bank, PrithviShergill, CHRO, HCL Technologies, and Mr. SaugataMitra, Group Head, HR, Mother Dairy Pvt Ltd.

The introduction was followed by the first panel discussion of the day titled, “A Journey from Classroom to Boardroom”. Speakers and moderators of the session included Ms MadhaviLall of Deutsche Bank, Ms Neeti Sharma, Co-Founder Team Lease, Prof. Amit Mookerjee, Dean and Head, IIM Lucknow, Noida Campus, Dr. Jitendra Das, Director, Fore School of Management and Mr Rajeev Kumar, Global Head, Campus Hiring, Wipro Limited.

“Transforming HR for Strategic Talent Management” was the focus area of the second session. The session was presided over by leaders like Dr. Sandhya Chintala, VP NASSCOM and S Radha Chauhan, President and CEO, Department of Electronics and Information Technology.

Third session of the day, focused on the concept of “Onboarding andEngaging Talent in the Digital Age”. Speakers and moderators of the session comprised Mr PrithviShergill of HCL, Ms Pooja Malik, VP, HR, AnandAutomotives Ltd, Ms Kiran Singh, GM, Corporate HR, Mother Dairy, Mr. UnmeshPawar, Global HR MD, Accenture and Mr.Wallace Shah, Director and Country Head, Lausanne Hospitality Consulting.

On the second day, the following sessions took place - Panel Discussion on:‘How Technology is changing the Landscape of Talent Acquisition’. Moderator was Mr. SreekanthArimanithaya, Managing Director, CSC India & Global Lead- Workforce Management,CSC. Panelists were Mr. PremleshMachama – MD, Career Builder IMr. Prashant Bhatnagar – Senior Director, People & Culture, Hike Messenger Mr. M. V. S. Murthy – Chief – People Office, nFDIL (A Future Group Company) and Ms. RinkuKaul – Managing Director, Talent Supply Chain, Accenture. Second session was on ‘Emerging Trends in HR’chaired by Ms. Ester Martinez , CEO & Editor-in-Chief at People Matters.

Conference concluded with Panel Discussion& Closing Plenary on:
‘Empower HR through Apprenticeship’.

It was a good learning experience for the faculty members.

Special Session on “Business Analytics”

A special session on “Business Analytics” was conducted by Department of IT, I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad in New Seminar Hall on 05th November, 2016 for MCA Students. Mr Alok Chaurasia, Associate Director, Cognizant, Belgium was invited as resource person for the special session. Mr. Alok shared his experience on Business Analytics. He said that it can be used to automate and optimize business processes. He told that companies treat their data as a corporate asset and leverage it for competitive benefits. 

He discussed about new pattern and role identification techniques which are rapid using in data analysis. He told about an importance of this approach in the current scenario. He discussed about working of statistical analysis and quantitative analysis. He exposed how Data Analysis is used in real life situations and time taken to trace the privileges provided to the user. He discussed about the solutions against the problem of data filtration for different scenarios. 
Towards the end of the session the resource person discussed the questions related to business analytics and its issues which may be beneficial for students for their better understanding. The session was very interactive and all the students were benefitted towards their knowledge in the domain of Business Analytics by attending such interactive session. Faculty members of the department were also present during the lecture.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

 6th November, 2016 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a class in which the pollution prevailed from inside to outside. The air all-around was full of heavy pollution and the topic chosen to discuss with the children was also ‘Pollution’ so that they understand the seriousness and consequences of alarming increase in the pollution.

Volunteers of the day – Neha Vashistha, Pooja Singh (RVS), Shashank Chadha, Saddam Hussain, Kaviraj, Pushpendra, Nidhi Singh, Rajesh Borar, Manoj Sharma and Satender Rana (Dev) started the activity started with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.
The class started with the theme of ‘Pollution’. The children were asked if they had mild irritation in their eyes or not. They and the volunteers nodded. Then the reason for irritation, growing menace of pollution, types of pollution, causes of pollution and the remedies to control pollution were described and discussed in detail. The children were told to take utmost care that the air, water and surroundings are not polluted by us. Revision of counting from 1 to 100 in Hindi and English also took place.
The transition from Pollution to Petha gave the children a sweet diversion. ITS Ghaziabad had sent three boxes of Petha for the slum children which they received with pleasure in their little hands and relished the taste.
Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Parivartan Club.

Deepawali Celebration by ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

30th October, 2016 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an unforgettable Deepawali Celebration with the slum children who enjoyed the brief and quiz on Diwali followed by prizes, eye-catching decorations, aarti of Goddess Laxmi, Rangoli with floating diyas, laddoos, big chocolates and sample burning of few crackers. Exactly on Diwali, when most of the people were engaged in the shopping and household chores, the special volunteers of ITS spared time to celebrate Diwali with the slum children.

Volunteers of the day – Master Adhrit Dwivedi, Shweta Sharma, Shivi Gautam, Sonakshi Mittal, Ayushi Verma, Ashi Sharma, Arti Gupta, Sarthak Sachdeva, Pralay Ganguly and Vikas Babu started the celebration with the decoration of the spot. Poster of Goddess Laxmi, Diwali stickers, hanging wreaths, diyas, and rangoli gave the spot a never before look. The activity started with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.
Soon after the decorations, the children were told why Deepawali is celebrated. A quiz was conducted and the correct responses were appreciated with on the spot prizes. The brief and quiz were followed by the Aarti of Goddess Laxmi which the children sang in full devotion with closed eyes and folded hands.
The children were told to avoid burning crackers on Diwali as this leads to pollution and suffocation. But to satiate the childhood interest for crackers, a few crackers were burnt as sample which brought wide smiles on the little faces. The celebration concluded with the distribution of Boondi Laddoos among all children.
28 volunteers were invited for conducting this special activity on Diwali and only 9 turned up. Surprisingly most of them were girls who made this Diwali special for the slum children with their presence, decorations, talks and gifts. Sonakshi, Shweta and Arti had brought big jars of chocolates for the slum children while Ashi gifted them with lovely crackers. 8-10 staff members of Fire Station also witnessed this celebration with the mutual exchange of sweets between them and the volunteers. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Parivartan Club.

Best Work Place Award” for Faculty/Staff on 28th October, 2016.

5S is the name of a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke. Transliterated into Roman script, they all start with the letter "S". There are five 5S phases: They can be translated from the Japanese as "sort", "set in order", "shine", "standardize" and "sustain".
Keeping that in view, 5S team has organized a “Best Work Place Award” for Faculty/Staff on 28th October, 2016.
“The most successful companies are the ones that employees believe in”.

5s set out to prove this, and to recognize the Best Workplaces Award. 
The objective behind Best Workplaces Award was to bring out the implementation of 5S i.e. "sort", "set in order", "shine", "standardize", and "sustain" in the faculty and staff. All faculty & staff participated with a great zeal in the contest. All workplaces in the institute were cleaned and well managed. Teams visited to individual workplace for the same to select one "Best Faculty Work Place" in each department (PG-IT, PG Management and UG Campus) and three "Best Work Places" for staff.

The faculty cabins of PG-IT were adjudicate by Prof. Charu Chaudhary & Prof. Nitin Saxena from PG- Management department. The faculty cabins of PG-Management were judged by Prof. Nancy Sharma & Prof. Ashutosh Sharma from UG Campus and “Best Faculty Work Place” in UG-Campus were adjudicate by Prof. Puja Dhar & Prof. Smita Kansal from PG-IT. Top three “Best Staff Work Places” were identified by Prof. Yogita Chauhan, Prof. Anuja Roy, and Prof. Chandramani Sharma.

Poster Making Competition” and “Best Class Room Award” for UG/PG students, on 25th and 26th October, 2016 respectively.

Poster Making Competition was organized on the theme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. The objective behind Poster Making Competition was to bring out the creativity and imagination of the students through making the Posters to give a platform to the students for showing their talent and also to make an awareness in the peer group for cleanliness. The participation in the contest added enthusiasm among the students. Total 20 teams from BBA, BCA, MCA, MBA and PGDM participated in the competition. Akshita Garg & Priyanka Sharma from BCA 3rd year (Sec B) won the first prize, Mahima Garg & Iqura Khatuon from BBA 2nd year (Sec B) won the second prize and Abhishek & Hemant from MCA 2nd year (Sec A) won the third prize. Prof. A.N. Tripathi, Prof. Pawan Kumar Singh and Dr. Puneet Kumar were the judges for the event. Winners will be awarded by Certificates.
In continuation of this, Best Class Room Award was also organized. The objective behind Best Class Room Award was to bring out the implementation of 5S in students i.e. "sort", "set in order", "shine", "standardize", and "sustain". Participants participated with a great zeal in the contest. All classrooms in PG-IT, PG-Management and UG Campus were cleaned and decorated. One Class Room in each department was selected as Best Class Room. Prof. Puja Dhar and Prof. Rakesh Roshan judged “Best Class Room” in PG-IT(MCA Class Rooms), Prof. Ankur Ahuja and Dr. Puneet Kumar judged “Best Class Room” in PG-Management(PGDM and MBA Class Rooms) and Prof. Kanika Tandon & Prof. Richa Singh judged “Best Class Room” in UG Campus (BBA and BCA Class Rooms). Two students from each class represented their classes by answering the queries of the judges.

Cultural Club organized activity “SAARANG” for MBA (2016-18) Batch.

 26th October 2016, MBA Cultural Club, organized its first activity, “SAARANG” activity for MBA 16-18. 
The event started with a 10 minutes cultural quiz, 13 teams participated in this round and top 5 teams qualified to quiz further. Along with participants the audiences were also engaged through quizzing and were winning the chocolates throughout the program. Participating teams gave tough competition to each other and there was a tie between two teams. Winners were announced.

This event was not only entertaining but was instrumental in building the impromptu skills and knowledge of the students. By virtue of the event many melodious voices were heard for first time, in a way was a talent discoverer.

Industrial Visit for MBA (2016-18) batch to Moon Beverages, Sahibabad

Department of Management of Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad, has organized an industrial visit to M/s Moon Beverages ltd, Sahibabad on 26th Oct, 2016, for its new batch of MBA students (2016-18). It was started from the Institutional premises at 1:15 PM and students reached to Industrial unit at 2:00 PM. After reaching the site we were escorted to board room where brief introduction about the company has been delivered by company personnel. Later on the visit to manufacturing plant has been organized where manufacturing experts demonstrated the process of beverage manufacturing.

Moon Beverages, Sahibabad was established in 1987, with the manufacturing of soft drinks. The company started with manufacturing of THUMS UP, LIMCA, MAAZA, RIMZHIM, BISLERI, SODA GOLD SPOT under arrangement with Parle. But later on with the takeover of Parle soft drinks limited by Coca Cola Inc., USA in 1993, the company became the franchise manufacturer for Coca Cola Products. The existing installed capacity of the company is 10 million cases per annum.
Currently, the company indulges in manufacturing of Coke, Fanta, Limca, Sprite, Thums Up, Kinley Soda, Maaza. The carbonated soft drinks produced by Coca-Cola are subject to strict quality control and inspection procedures ensuring they meet the highest international standards.

The visit was guided under the mentorship of Dr. Ajay Kumar Sinha.

Cultural Club organized “JASHN- E- DIWALI “ for PGDM Students.

24th October 2016, Cultural Club “VIBGYOR””, organized its first club activity, “Jashn-E- Diwali” activity for PGDM 16-18. activity had two parts:-
· Make from the wrek: The task is to recreate creative Diwali decor from waste and recyclable materials. 
· Crackers on the stage :The task is to present dance, skit or act that conveys a positive social message towards the environment & society.
Volunteers of the day:- Aanchal Grover( president), Dwiti lal (Vice-president), Payel Sinha (PRO), D. Gagan ( treasurer), Ruchi, Mayank, Yash, Nagma, Aanchal Gupta, Himashu, Shashank, (active members).
 

The first performance was by Priyanshu Jain, a song on Diwali. Second performance was a group dance by Avantika and group, on the social cause ‘Beti Bacchao, Beti Padhao”, the next performance was on pollution free Diwali performed by Ruby and group. Rini and group took Eve teasing as a social cause and performed a skit- cum- dance performance. D. Gagan kumar gave a dance performance on “Meri maa” depicting the love and affection of a child towards his mother.
Last but not the least Siddharth and group depicted the side effects of Technology through a Role- play
The second activity was “Make the Wrek” where participants made creative or useful products out of waste. Jaydeep and group made a show piece out of a waste bottle, the next team was Avantika and group, they decorated a Diya. Ruby and group also made a Diya. Ginni and group made a Pooja thal. Vaishaili and group made a Christmas bell and chocolate cart.
The event was judged by Prof. Shuchita Singh, Prof. Hitesh Chaddha and Prof. Rashi Agarwal. Results were announced with applauds for all the participants.
1st Prize Winners for “ Crackers on stage”: Avantika & Group, Teams members include Nidhi Gupta, Aakriti and shivani.
1st Runner up were: Rini and group, Team members include Jaydeep, Saloni and Yash.
Now winners for “Make the Wrek” were Ginni, Shubham and Himanshi
1st Runner up were: Vaishali, Shweta, Akshay and Renu
The club activity concluded by prize distribution and photo session.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

23rd October, 2016 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was an extremely interesting class on ‘Shapes’ in which slum children learnt about various shapes through the cut-outs displayed by the volunteers.

Volunteers of the day – Nitish, Atul Kumar Jaiswal, Rohit Chaudhary, Rohit Kumar, Rohit Thakur, Lavi Gupta, Arif Hussain and Satender Rana (Dev) started the class with the regular checkup of the hygiene and personal grooming of the slum children. Those who had come bathed, neat and clean were appreciated with Crax packets. The activity started with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.
The class started with an entirely new sesson on the ‘Shapes’ which included the square, the rectangle, the circle, half circle, the triangle and the cylindrical shapes. The pictures of all these shapes were drawn on board and explained with examples. The children felt most attracted towards the paper cut-outs of all these shapes that were held high by the ITS volunteers. The children could not only remember the names of these shapes in Hindi and English but could also find the examples of these shapes in their memory and on the spot also. Some of them indicated that the lid of the petrol tank in the car parked nearby was a square and the others pointed out that the mobile phone clicking their pictures was a rectangle. The girl sitting in the front row told that the ear ring she was wearing was a circle and the little boy sitting in the corner reminded in his cute voice that Paratha was a triangle.
The fun-filled activity ended with the distribution of Cream biscuits and éclairs among all the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Parivartan Club.

Special Session on “Modern Trends in Technologies” by Mr. V. K. Arya

 An invited talk by Eminent Speaker " Mr. V. K. Arya, Founder & CEO - AVK Global & Former Dy. Director General (TEC), Govt of India ",was organized on 22nd October ,2016, at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad. Before starting of the session, Mr V. K. Arya was warmly welcomed by Dr. Sunil Kr Pandey Director IT, by presented him a bouquet.

In this session, Mr. V. K. Arya delivered talk on “Modern Trends in Technologies”. In his address, he explained about Modern Trends in IT based Technologies. He explained trends in Information Technologies. He discussed that Growth in Broadband is driven by Intensive Applications like Telemedicine, Distance Education, E-Governance, E-Commerce, HDTV and Online Gaming. Mr. Arya has suggested to students that there is need to concentrate on all basic fundamental of technologies.
Mr. Arya enlightened on Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics and its applications in different real life Applications.
This event was in the series of Invited talks by national speakers of repute by Dept of IT of the institute with an objective to provide the detailed insight of the theme to the upcoming and working professionals/students/researchers about the technological, research and allied issues and experience sharing by leading experts and professionals.
After the talk, Prof Puja Dhar MCA Cordinator delivered vote of thanks to Mr V. K. Arya for his enlightening talk. Mr Arya also interacted with the faculties and answered the queries related with research & applications raised during the session.

Special session on “Relational Algebra to PL/SQL”

 A special session on “Relational Algebra to PL/SQL” was organized by DBMS Club of Department of IT on 22nd October 2016 for MCA III Semester students. In the first session Prof. Saurabh Saxena covered relational Algebra. In his session he described the objective of relational Algebra in DBMS & very well explained each operator of relational algebra with example. In this session focused was on how to write query in relation algebra. At the end of session, student performed hands on exercise on the queries of relational algebra.

In the second session Prof. Puja Dhar touched the various topics of PL/SQL like cursor, trigger & procedure. This session was planned with an objective that students are able to write procedure in PL/SQL & know the concept of trigger & Cursor. She explained each topic with variety of examples. Overall the session was very interactive & informative for students.The attendance sheet of students is attached with this report for reference.

 On 21st October 2016, Library club organized an activity for MBA students .The activity was designed to give a platform to students where they can showcase their creative and intellectual approach. There were two activities - Poster making and Treasure hunt.

Students took active participation in the activities reflecting their resourcefulness and ingenuity in the poster making and treasure hunt .Theme for the Postermaking competition was‘Pollution free Diwali.’The activity witnessed excited participation of 10 teams comprising of 3 members each in poster making and in treasure hunt there were 17 teams comprising of 2 members each. They used the available resources to display their understanding of the topic which brought forward the comprehension, dreams and expectations of today’s youth related to the pollution free Diwali and in treasure hunt the participants used their intellectual skills to solve the puzzle .Each team presented their posterand the idea behind the same to Prof. Shikha Arora, Mr. Vijay Kumar and Mrs .Lalita Singh who graced the event as esteemed judges for the competition.

The team comprising of Ms.Rupanshi Bass , Ms. AarifaSahiba, won the first prize and Mr .Pradeep Bansal ,Ms .Pooja Garg won the second prize in TRASURE HUNT . Team represented by Ms .Shalu Gupta, Ms.Chandani Gupta, Ms .Akansha won first prize and Ms.AyushiJha, Ms.Shefali Gupta ,Ms .Namrata stood in second place in POSTER MAKING.All the winners were awarded with attractive prizes and certificates by the honourablejudges. They used the available resources to display their understanding of the topic which brought forward the comprehension, dreams and expectations of today’s youth related to the pollution free Diwali and in treasure hunt the participants used their intellectual skills to solve the puzzle .Each team presented their posterand the idea behind the same to Prof. Shikha Arora, Mr. Vijay Kumar and Mrs .Lalita Singh who graced the event as esteemed judges for the competition.

The team comprising of Ms.Rupanshi Bass , Ms. AarifaSahiba, won the first prize and Mr .Pradeep Bansal ,Ms .Pooja Garg won the second prize in TRASURE HUNT . Team represented by Ms .Shalu Gupta, Ms.Chandani Gupta, Ms .Akansha won first prize and Ms.AyushiJha, Ms.Shefali Gupta ,Ms .Namrata stood in second place in POSTER MAKING.All the winners were awarded with attractive prizes and certificates by the honourablejudges. The activity,under the guidance of Library Club Mentor, Prof.Shikha Arora ,was conducted by members of library club comprising of Ms. Rashmi Yadav, Ms. MadhooSahoo, Mr. Satyapal Singh Yadav, Ms. Somya Srivastava , Ms. ShubhiRastogi, Ms .Vidhi Yadav, Ms. AnjulVarshney, Ms. Sweety Shukla, Ms. PrachiGilhotra ,Ms .Garima Shukla ,Ms .Parul Day ,Mr.GautamBarchhiwal ,Mr.HarshSethi ,Mr.Asif ,Mr. Vipin Singh ,Mr.Rohit Kumar ,Mr.Ranjiw Kumar .
