17th November, 2017 activity of Utthan Lab, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a day for rocking the stage with the fabulous performances in Dance Competition and understanding the causes and consequences of wastage of food.
Volunteers of the day – Anukriti Dubey, Anshul Jain, Atul Chouhan, Aditya Pandey, Parag Agarwal, Richa Sharma, Rishu Kejriwal, Awantika Singh, Bikram Parajuli, George Rudolf Henry and Rakesh Dam started the day with the brief on the day’s importance, activities and the competitions.
The first session of the day was on ‘Don’t You Waste Food’ which was based on a campaign initiated by an NGO - ‘System Research Society’. The children were told that every 3.6 seconds a person dies of hunger in this world whereas 1.3 billion tons of edible food is discarded every year, enough to feed 900 million people. The value of the food lost – Rs. 92,000 crore – is nearly two-thirds of what it costs the government to feed 600 million Indians with subsidized ration under the National Food Security programme. The children were appealed put a stop to this criminal wastage of food. All of them took a pledge that from this day onwards they would not waste food.
The second session of the day was a Dance Competition titled as ‘Aa Ja Nach Le’ in which 37 participants gave the rocking performances on the super hit dance numbers. The best performers were appreciated and felicitated with enticing prizes like big soft-toys, games, kits, water bottles, valleys, sharpeners and many more. All the children who were present were gifted with Crax Curls and gifts like paper-clip, pencils and glitters.
The activity concluded with the snacks and the cold drinks served to all. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided the volunteers and enjoyed the activity as the faculty coordinator of Utthan Lab.
