1st July, 2017 activity of Utthan Lab, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a day that was marked with four important segments of learning with fun. The Utthan Children were told about GST and Presidential Election along with their visit to computer labs and participation in the Drawing and Painting Competion on the theme ‘Ye Mausam Ki Baarish’. Countless prizes were showered upon the deprived but talented children.

Volunteers of the day – Shashi, Richa Sharma, Anil Kumar Kushwaha, Novika Chadha, Parag Agarwal, Bikram Parajuli, Tarun Sharma, Prashant Sharma, Rajat Gupta and Mayank started the day with the brief on the day’s importance, activities and the competitions.

The first session of the day included two topics – GST and Presidential Election in India. The children were told about the full form of GST, its pros and cons and the consequences of its enforcement. Then they were told about the ensuing Presidential Election in India, the process and the possibilities. The powers of the President and the Prime Minister were compared with examples.

The Second session of the day was on Computer Skills. The children were taken to Computer Lab 5 and Lab 7 where the task for them was to find out the profiles and pictures of Mr. Ram Nath Kovind and Mrs. Meira Kumar on internet and paste them on an MS Word page. They were also told to tell any two facts from each profile. Those who did it excellently well were appreciated with special prizes. This helped the children get familiar with the candidates of the presidential election.

The third and the last session of the day was a Drawing and Painting Competition with the theme ‘Ye Mausam Ki Baarish’ and the children were told to draw and paint the picture depicting the monsoon. Total 23 prizes were given to amazing little artists.

Drawing sheets and Colour sets were given to all the children. The activity concluded with the heavy snacks and the cold drinks served to all. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided and accompanied the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Utthan Lab.
