- This is noticeable that some subjects of MCA course curriculum are very vital and useful. These subjects are currently demanded by the industry and industry wants that students should be skilled in these technologies , one of these technology is Java/J2EE. The Java/J2EE technology is very vast which requires few months to become someone familiar with the technology.
- Since the technology is so vast, therefore there is a requirement to do something additional to continue the study, problems solving, discussion about important aspects and practice of some important exercises of the technology beyond the class room also.
- Keeping the above points in mind the Department of IT, I.T.S, Ghaziabad has formed JAVA CLUB to carry out all the above mentioned activities about said technology.
The objective of the java club is the technological enhancement of the MCA students in Java Technology which includes, question/answers of java technology, puzzles of java, practical applications of Java etc.
Following activities are to be carried out in the club:-
- Preparing students for java mock test for industrial recruitment
- Conducting of programming contests
- Inter institutional java competition participation by students.
- Conducting of java puzzles workshop
The club is driven by the students of MCA and it is supported by IT faculty members. The activities of the club are initiated after discussion among faculty members and core club students’ members then it is executed by the core club members of club.
Activities Conducted by Java Club:

An intra institutional Java Programming Contest “SANRACHNA-2018” for MCA IV 2nd year , BCA 2nd and final year students was organized on 16th March, 2018. The event was an on the spot Java programming contest, which consists of one round which comprised of on the spot Java programming. Based on the performance of students in this round, the winners of contest were shortlisted. The event was conducted under the aegis of Java Club. Students were given two simple logical programs for display of specific output and on the basis of performance top three students were awarded with certificate and a valuable MCQ book on C, C++ and Java.

Java Club of Department of IT in association with CSI-Student Branch at I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad conducted a Workshop on “Java Technologies” on 16 February, 2018 from 9:15 AM to 1:10 PM. The workshop was conducted for students of MCA IV Semester and BCA VI Semester. The objective of workshop was to brush up the basic concepts of Java and making the students aware with J2EE components. The concept of MVC architecture was discussed. The programming concepts with JSP and MySQL were covered. In the end of workshop a modules developed in JSP and MySql was demonstrated and the workshop was concluded with a quiz.

A workshop on advanced Java technologies, JSP, Servlets with MVC was conducted for MCA IV semester students on 10th March, 2017. The workshop was aimed to provide concepts of project development using JSP, Servlets on MVS followed by hands on by the students. The workshop was conducted by Prof. KP Singh and Prof. Gaurav Midha as resource person. Most of the interested students attended this workshop.The workshop was started with brief overview of MVC architecture. In this part the MVC concept along with its evolution, types and frameworks were discussed with students. The workshop was further continued with demonstration cum detailed discussion of a module developed in JSP, Servlets, JDBC, JSTL based on MVC architecture.The logic of source codes of all the required programs in JSP, Servlet and JSTL was explained and integration of all the programs was demonstrated to the students.In later part of the workshop, the students made hands on practice for development of the same module by their own. The students learned configuration of development environment like, Tomcat, MySQL on Eclipse IDE.
- A Value Added Module on Java/J2EE technology was conducted from 10th to 12th January, 2017 for the students of IV Semester. The sessions were practical oriented with short theoretical brief of the planned topics. The each topic was practically demonstrated which was followed by hands on practice by the students. Above 50 students were present in the module and attended the same with full of interest and attention.
The sessions were taken by Prof. KP Singh and Prof. Gaurav Midha.

The coordinators of Java Club Prof. KP Singh and Prof. Gaurav Midha conducted this workshop. Prof. KP Singh had a discussion about J2EE overview and MVC architecture used in J2EE in order to develop the web applications in Java Technologies. Prof. Gaurav Midha demonstrated a module in JSP and JSTL developed in first model of MVC.
- Java Club organized a workshop on "Struts Framework" on 13-10-2016. The objective of this workshop was to make the students aware about Struts Framework, and to help them for placement. The workshop was conducted for final year students.
- Java Club organized an intra institutional Java Programming Contest “SANRACHNA-2015” for MCA III Semester and BCA V Semester was organized on 11th September, 2015. The event was an on the spot Java programming contest, which consists of two rounds. The first round was screening round and comprised of an online Java quiz test. In this round, all the above mentioned students participated. Around top 70 students were short-listed for the next round. The next round was the final round which comprised of on the spot Java programming. Based on the performance of students in this round, the winners of contest were short listed.
- Java Club organized an intra institutional Java Programming Contest “SANRACHNA-2015” for MCA IV 2nd year , BCA 2nd and final year students was organized on 23rd March, 2015. The event was an on the spot Java programming contest, which consists of two rounds. The first round was screening round and comprised of an online Java quiz test. In this round, all the above mentioned participated. Around top 75 students were short-listed for the next round. The next round was the final round which comprised of on the spot Java programming. Based on the performance of students in this round, the winners of contest were shortlisted.
- Java Club organized an intra institutional Java Programming Contest “SANRACHNA 2014” for MCA V semester and BCA V semester was organized on 29th August, 2014. The event threaded into two rounds. The first round was screening round and comprised of an online Java quiz. In this round, the students of MCA V semester and BCA V semester participated. Top thirty students were short-listed for the next round. The next round was the final round which comprised of on the spot Java programming. Based on the performance of students in this round, the winners of contest were shortlisted. The event was conducted under the aegis of Java Club in association with CSI student branch at I.T.S. The event was coordinated by three faculty members of IT Department, Prof. K.P. Singh, Prof. Gaurav Midha and Prof. Rakesh Roshan.A java Quiz competition was organized by the java club on 1st August, 2013. The quiz competition was conducted for the students of MCA and BCA. The quiz comprised of MCQ of java and students’ response was quite good for the same.

In this round, all the students of MCA IV semester participated. Around top thirty students were short-listed for the next round. The next round was the final round which comprised of on the spot Java programming. Based on the performance of students in this round, the winners of contest were shortlisted. The event was conducted under the aegis of Java Club.
- A five days workshop was organized for the MCA students on “Object Oriented Concepts of Java Language”. The workshop was conducted by Prof. KP Singh and Prof. Gaurav Midha from 18-July-2011 to 22-July-2011.
- Online Quiz Competition was organized for the MCA students on 24-August-2011.
- An intra institutional Java Programming Contest “SANRACHNA 2012” for MCA and BCA students was organized on 27th March, 2012.
- Two days workshop on Object Oriented Programming in Java is planned tentatively on 3-4 August, 2012 for MCA IInd Year Students.
- Two days workshop on JSP, JDBC, Servlets is planned tentatively from 28-29-2012 for MCA IInd Year Students.
