The key resource person for the occasion was Mr V.K. Arora, CEO, Anvesan Foundation, IGTDUW. Dr Arora, who is associated with entrepreneurs, startups and incubation centres as well as institutes, universities and government departments in an advisory and handholding capacity, has been a frequent visitor to the IIC at ITS earlier as well.

The workshop opened with Dr V.N. Bajpai, Director, I.T.S Mohan Nagar, pointing out the difference between discovery, invention and innovation to the assembled students. He exhorted the students to follow their own dreams, whether it be with regard to their career or business aspirations. Dr Bajpai provided valuable inputs to the youngsters on how they could gainfully utilise the two years that they are spending on the campus to develop themselves.

In her address, Dr Timira Shukla, Director, ITS School of Management, continued the same message. She explained the difference between entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, and also highlighted the increasing role being played by technology. She called upon the learners in the audience to raise their game by adding tangible skills while remaining updated on current occurrences in the corporate world.

Dr Arora began by referring to the increasing disruptions in industry. He emphasised on the changing nature of business, opining that in a globalising world, it is local production and consumption which holds the key. Stressing on having a job oriented mindset, he described how a young population provided India with a major strategic advantage.

Coming to the role of entrepreneurs, Dr Arora spoke of a supportive corporate environment with diverse incubating systems. He discussed how in the current competitive situation it was virtually impossible to move ahead without innovations.

As a whole the session was very interactive and encouraging. The students had several questions regarding entrepreneurial skills and the challenges for new startups. The event concluded with presentation of a plaque to Dr Arora by Dr Bajpai as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
