In any business, data is now regarded as a crucial resource rather than a passively stored components. Increased competitive environment, need of quick response with accurate information at the time of is needed is one of the challenges IT Industry is facing. The understanding of basic under-lying principles of data bases, As integration with newly developed applications, is key to success of businesses now.
Need of storage, structured, semi – structured, access, manipulation with and analysis is forcing the experts to have a holistic view on data, its context and application.
Considering above in view, DBMS club was formed in Dept of IT. The club is priorly run by student team under the guidance of faculty team.
The club engages the students in organizing activities like workshops, training programs, Guest talks, Sessions by Industry Experts, Quizes etc
This helps students to keep them abreast with the latest developments taking place in Industry, Particularly in the field of Databases and related technologies.
Activities of DBMS Club:

Department of I.T inaugurated the DBMS CLUB on 15th February, 2016. The Club was inaugurated by Director (IT), Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey, Coordinator-MCA, Prof. Puja Dhar, Chief Guest Dr. Vipin, Oracle Technologies, Mr. Ashwini Deshwani, Selecom Technologies and Dr. Vidushi Singh, member DBMS Club. On the same day DBMS Club organized its first workshop on “Oracle 12c” by Dr. Vipin from Oracle Technologies.

A guest talk on “Journey towards Cloud” was organized by DBMS club on 2nd March 2016.Mr. Kamal Dudeja from Oracle Technologies was the speaker. He briefed students about Virtualization and its types. Challenges of Virtualization were also discussed in detail. He has given the insight of cloud computing also. He has also given knowledge of different services provided by cloud computing like SAAS,PAAS, IAAS etc.

A special session on “Relational Algebra to PL/SQL” was organized by DBMS Club of Department of IT on 22nd October 2016 for MCA III Semester students. In the first session Prof. Saurabh Saxena covered relational Algebra. In his session he described the objective of relational Algebra in DBMS & very well explained each operator of relational algebra with example. In the second session Prof. Puja Dhar touched the various topics of PL/SQL like cursor, trigger & procedure.

A Value Added Module of Database Management System was conducted from 5th January, 2017 to 10th January, 2017. The sessions were taken by Prof. Saurabh Saxena, Prof. Puja Dhar and Dr. Vidushi Singh. Around Sixty students of MCA-IV semester attended the session. Topic Covered in sessions are Overview of DDL/DML/DCL Commands, Joins, Subquery, Union, Intersection, Views, Index, Group By Clause, Oracle Function

Two-day’s workshop on “Oracle Database and Implementation” was conducted on 22nd February to 23rd February, 2017. The objective of this workshop was to make students of ITS-BCA campus aware about the basic concepts of Oracle Database and how it will help them in their higher studies and job too. Prof. Puja Dhar and Prof. Saurabh Saxena was the resource person for this workshop. They discussed about the Oracle History, Overview of Oracle Grid Architecture, Developer Tools, Differentiation between File Processing System and Database Processing System, Database Structure including logical & Physical structure, Security mechanism, Overview of data types, Functions of DBMS, DDL & DML statements.

A “Brain Storming Session on SQL PL/SQL” was conducted by Department of IT on 17-04-2017 for MCA students from 01:40 pm - 5:00 pm in Lab-6 of the Institute. The objective of the session was to make our MCA students ready for the Campus Drives coming in their next semester. The resource persons for the session was Director IT Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey.
