5th November, 2017 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a discussion on Electricity, its productions, distribution, utilization and significance.
Volunteers of the day Shefali Gupta, Abhijita Sinha, Pramendra Singh Tomar, Shubham Tewari, Bikram Parajuli and Rakesh Dam started the class with the prayer ‘Tumhi ho mata pita tumhi ho, tumhi ho bandhu sakha tumhi ho’ and informed the children about the session scheduled for the day.
The talk of the day was on ‘Bijli Hai Shakti’ during which the volunteers started with the slogan ‘Bijli hai shakti, ise vyarth na gawaao. Jitni jaroorat ho utni jalaao’. Further they explained the process of production of electricity i.e. through dams and turbines, generators, windmills, solar panels etc. The children were told how electricity was invented, how it is stored temporarily, how its distribution takes places and in how many ways we use it.
The children were also told to save electricity and switch off bulbs, fans and appliances when not in use. Later a quiz was conducted as usual and the correct and prompt responses were appreciated with on the spot prizes.
Meanwhile two TGT teachers of Delhi Govt who were passing by, took interest in the Parivartan activity. They stopped and interacted with the slum children and motivated them to join some big or small school also.
The activity concluded with the distribution of Crax Curls and éclairs among all the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.
