As we enter into the full swing of the festive season with the onset of the month of October, 30th September 2018 saw an interesting combination for the children of Parivartan – an introduction to nouns, and a lesson in the basics of banking.

The first session of the day was a class on nouns. Jhalak was in her element as the teacher, as she went about explaining to the children the necessity of nouns in grammar, relating it to the Hindi equivalent of sangya for better understanding. She went on to discuss different types of nouns, using appropriate examples.

The second part was taken over by Abhay as he took the students on an exploration of the banking landscape. He provided a historical backdrop, recalling the start of banking operations in India in 1949. In this connection he threw some light on the role of RBI and the types of accounts that can be opened in a bank.

Before calling a day, a quiz was held by Jhalak and Abhay to refresh and revise the concepts learnt in the class today. Those who answered correctly were rewarded with toffees.

The day finally came to an end with the distribution of Bikano Aloo Bhujiya and Parle Eclairs Toffees.

Dr. Indraneel Mandal accompanied and motivated the student volunteers, and guided them in the conduct of the sessions.
