With that point in mind, it is necessary to have a proper knowledge about the other nations, several of whom make up the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). That was Parivartan’s goal for the day. The volunteers for the day were Hitesh Sharma, Rahul Gupta, Kirti Singh, Bhavendra, Kalyani Ruhela and Roshan Kumar. Kirti started off the day with a discussion on the countries that make up India’s neighborhood – China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal and Afghanistan. As usual, the children were not to be left behind, as they shouted out the names of almost all the countries. The session continued with the capital cities of these countries.  Bhavendra then entered the scene with some nuggets about the languages that are spoken the most in these nations. The second part of the day’s classes dealt with math basics as Rahul got the children to recite multiplication tables up to twenty. Those who knew where asked to step forward and lead the others in reciting the tables. As is the norm here, an impromptu quiz was then held to test the knowledge of the day’s learning. The day then closed out with the distribution of packets of ‘Crax Rings’ and ‘Parle Kaccha Mango Bite’ toffees among the children. Dr. Indraneel Mandal accompanied and motivated the student volunteers. Prof. Lokesh Upreti planned and guided the volunteers in the conduct of the programme as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club - Parivartan.
