Volunteers of the day – Nitish, Atul Kumar Jaiswal, Rohit Chaudhary, Rohit Kumar, Rohit Thakur, Lavi Gupta, Arif Hussain and Satender Rana (Dev) started the class with the regular checkup of the hygiene and personal grooming of the slum children. Those who had come bathed, neat and clean were appreciated with Crax packets. The activity started with the prayer – ‘Itni shakti humein dena data, mann ka vishwas kamjor ho na’.
The class started with an entirely new sesson on the ‘Shapes’ which included the square, the rectangle, the circle, half circle, the triangle and the cylindrical shapes. The pictures of all these shapes were drawn on board and explained with examples. The children felt most attracted towards the paper cut-outs of all these shapes that were held high by the ITS volunteers. The children could not only remember the names of these shapes in Hindi and English but could also find the examples of these shapes in their memory and on the spot also. Some of them indicated that the lid of the petrol tank in the car parked nearby was a square and the others pointed out that the mobile phone clicking their pictures was a rectangle. The girl sitting in the front row told that the ear ring she was wearing was a circle and the little boy sitting in the corner reminded in his cute voice that Paratha was a triangle.
The fun-filled activity ended with the distribution of Cream biscuits and éclairs among all the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Parivartan Club.
