The story of the day was ‘Upkar’ (Beneficence)’ which was from the series on values ‘Panchtantra Ki Kahaniya’ undertaken by the volunteers to teach the slum children. The story was about a lion who had gone stuck into a cage. When a man passing by released the lion, it thought of eating him. Then a Geedar (Jackal) came for the rescue of the man through its wisdom. The moral of the story was that we should think of possible threats too before offering help to anyone.
Important and difficult words of the stories were explained to children with examples, synonyms and antonyms in Hindi and English.
At the end of the talk, a short quiz was conducted on the topic discussed and the correct responses were appreciated with on the spot prizes and loud claps. There was also a round of revision for brushing up the previous lessons.
The class concluded with the distribution of Cream Bell Orange Bars and éclairs among all the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.
