Management faculty @ I.T.S Ghaziabad attended 2nd Doctoral Conference “SHODH-2018” at Indore.

Prof. Ritu Saxena, faculty at I.T.S Ghaziabad attended & presented the research paper titled “Impact of Organizational Climate on Teacher Effectiveness: A Review” in 2nd Doctoral Conference SHODH-2018 at SVVV, Indore on 31st March, 2018.

Five concurrent sessions happened during the entire day Conference. Management session was chaired by Dr. Santosh Rangnekar, Professor, IIT Roorkee, Dr. Santosh Dhar, Dean- Faculty of Doctoral Studies & Research and Dr. D. K. Mandal, Professor, SVVV, Indore.

The paper got published in book titled “DIVERSE, DIVERGENT AND INNOVATIVE RESEARCH - Contemporary Issues” published by Excel Publications, New Delhi with ISBN Number 978-93-86724-67-0.

The conference was a good learning experience and was focused on Interdisciplinary Research for Sustainable Development.

Participation of I.T.S Ghaziabad in “Gender Equality Summit 2018”.

Prof. Shikha Arora, faculty from PG Management Department of I.T.S Ghaziabad and PGDM student Jhalak Aggarwal, along with Director (Management), Dr. Ajay Kumar attended Gender Equality Summit 2018 titled “Gender Equality : A Key Differentiator for Sustainable Growth” on 9th March , 2018 at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi.

The objective of the Summit was to provide a platform to discuss collective responsibility and exploring pathways towards gender inclusive outcomes.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Uddesh Kohli, Senior Advisor UNGC. Summit Overview was presented by Ms. Vaishali Sinha, Chairperson GES 2018 & Director, ReNew Power. Other eminent speakers in the Inaugural Session included Mr. N. Venkatram, Managing Partner & CEO Deloitte India, Ms. Lise Kingo, CEO, UNGC, New York (Video Presentation) and Ms. Nishtha Satyam, Deputy Representative, UN Women MCO for India, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Vote of Thanks was presented by Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN GCNI.

The Summit had three plenary sessions – Plenary 1 was focused on “Gender Mainstreaming”. The discussion was based on the importance of Data collection and Approaches of various stakeholders for inclusion and progress of women. The session was moderated by Ms. Sangeeta Talwar, Managing Partner, Flyvision Consulting and the panelists were Ms. Renu Satti, CEO, Paytm Payments Bank, Mr. Abhimanyu Singh, Bank of America, Ms. Lakshmi Venkataraman, Founding trustee and Executive Vice President, Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust and Mr. Pradeep Nair, CEO & Regional Director, Ford Foundation for India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The selected case studies were also presented on Best Practices in Gender Equality.

Plenary 2 was on the theme “Accelerating and scaling gender specific initiatives”. The session was moderated by Dr. Shalini Sarin, SVP HR-BG Professional, CSR &BoP Leader-Lighting, Philips, Netherland and the panelists were Ms. Aloka Majumdar, Senior VP & Head of Corporate Sustainability, HSBC India, Ms. Bhavani Balasubramaniam, Partner & Diversity & Inclusion Leader, Deloitte India, Dr. Neelu Rohmetra , Director , IIM, Sirmaur and Dr. Shikha Sharma , Founder & Managing Director, Nutri-Health Systems Pvt Ltd.

The stories of women’s struggle for equality and the various dynamic initiatives undertaken for their advancement were shared by Ms Chetna Sinha, Founder, Mann Deshi Foundation and Ms. Shrishti Bakshi, Founder and Managing Director of Cross Bow Miles.

Plenary 3 was on the theme “Transition to Policy Development”. The session was moderated by Ms. Shweta Rajpal Kohli, Country Director, Govt. Affairs & Public Policy, India & South Asia, Salesforce and the panelists were , Ms. Gayathri Ramamurthy, HR Business Partner and D&I Lead, Capgemini, Ms. Neha Barjatya, CEO, Google Internet Saathi, Ms. Huzan Mistry, Strategic Business Head, National Stock Exchange, Ms. Nishtha Satyam, Deputy Representative UN Women MCO for India, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka and Ms. Ratna Anjan Jena , Statistical Adviser, Ministry of Women and Child Development.

The Summit concluded with a Valedictory session and the Valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque, UNICEF Representative in India. The session focused on the learning from the previous sessions and the way forward to bring women participation in all spheres from board room and corporate offices to political arena.

Dr. Umang and Prof Smita Kansal attended International Workshop on “Evolutionary Algorithms and Applications” during 9th – 10th March 2018 at South Asian University, Delhi.

The purpose of Workshop “Evolutionary Algorithms and Applications (With main focus to Multi-Objective, Many-Objective and Bilevel Problems)” was to train the faculty members, researchers, industry delegates in the research trends in evolution of algorithms in real life applications, so that new dimensions of research and commercial products can be produced in an optimal way including different aspects of EAs.

The workshop was focused to promote scientific interchange among researchers and practitioners in all related areas of algorithms development and show the participants how the research applications can be developed and solved using these concepts.

In this workshop following speakers shared their knowledge and address the gathering:

Prof Chandra Mani Sharma was Invited as Resource Person to Conduct Two Days Workshop on “Data Science using Python” IKGPTU, Main Campus, Kapurthala, Punjab

Prof Chandra Mani Sharma conducted two days workshop on “Data Science using Python” at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (a Govt. State Technical University of Punjab), Main Campus, Kapurthala during 9th – 10th March, 2018.

In this workshop, the students of B.Tech (CSE) and M.Tech (CSE) participated.

Data Science is an emerging area of research and development. In recent years, the demand of the professionals in the field has witnessed an exponential growth. It is going to play a pivotal role in the on-going AI revolution. The objective of the workshop was to provide the participants a hands-on exposure on Python programming and its applications in solving problems using machine learning and other approaches.

The day -1 of the workshop had sessions on basics of Python programming including data structures (lists, tuples, dictionaries, sets etc), control structures, iterations, creation of modules, introduction to Anaconda & Spyder, introduction to various packages for Data Science such as numpy, scipy, matplotlib, pandas, sklearn etc.

The day-2 of the workshop covered basics of machine learning including supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning. Overview of various data sets available for experimentation, analyzing and & visualizing data, application of KNN, LDA/PCA, SVM, Bayes Classification etc., evaluating different techniques, quality bench marks for machine learning such as confusion matrix, f1-score, recall value etc, introduction to deep learning etc. The workshop was concluded with a Q/A session on Data Science and future directions.

Workshop was very useful for the participants and it was highly appreciated by participants and the University administration.

Faculty and students of Management Dept. of I.T.S Ghaziabad attended “India – Korea Business Summit”

Management faculty, Dr. Rajeev Johri and Ms. Bhavna Bhardwaj along with students of PGDM and MBA, attended a day long summit on “The India-Korea Business Summit”, at The Taj Palace, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi.

The summit was organized by Department of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). The summit witnessed a varied participation from academia, corporate and Government officials. The inaugural session was graced with the presence of Honourable Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitely. Shri Arun Jaitely’s invigorating address covering key policies and issues provided a momentum for the day long discussions on Indo – Korean strategic business relations.

There were six sessions that were running simultaneously, covering Automobiles, Textiles, Food processing, Electronics system design & Manufacturing, skill Development (ESDM), Chemical and Technology and innovation (including start - ups).

The sessions focussed on the current policy and regulatory framework at central and state levels for creating an investment friendly environment for foreign companies. The representatives from different states talked about the initiatives taken up by them for providing an ease in doing business in their respective states.

Prof. Alok Singh participated on QIP Short Term Course at IIT Kharagpur.

Management Faculty, Prof. Alok Singh participated in QIP Short Term Course on Supply Chain Integration- Strategies and Technologies at E- Business Center of Excellence, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, at IIT Kharagpur.

This short term course was devised to create a platform for discussion on the current and contemporary issues on Supply Chain Management, E- Business, Process Excellence, and Optimization. The course had also allowed the participants to discuss current and pressing issues with senior level executives and academicians and deploy recent software applications in the domain.

Topics for different sessions were, Overview of Supply Chain Strategies and Technologies, Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management, Collaborative Sourcing, Supply Chain Coordination and Contract, E-Auction, CPFR and VMI, Supply Chain Traceability, Collaborative Logistics, System Dynamics, Supply Chain Network Design and Supply Chain Risk.

There were sessions also on software applications in Supply Chain Integrations like MATLAB, SAS, Arc Map, Analogic, I Think Studio, R and Python Programming. All the sessions were taken by senior faculty members of Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. All the sessions were very well designed and executed in terms of providing domain knowledge and learning in the field of Supply Chain Integration.

Management Faculty attended AIMA “Global Procurement Summit 2018”.

Management faculty Dr. Puneet Kumar and Dr. Indraneel Mandal of I.T.S, Ghaziabad attended two days summit on “New Frontiers Driving Transformation and Growth” was held on 08th & 09th February, 2018 at The Leela Hotel.

The summit was organised by AIMA in partnership with the World Bank, supported by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Participants included practitioners, academia, corporate and Government officials.

The inaugural session featured Mr Nikhil Sawhney, treasurer of AIMA, as well as Vice Chairman and MD of Triveni Turbine Limited; Mr Vinay Sharma, Dirctor, Global Governance Practice, World Bank; Shri Vinay Narayan Jha, Secreatary (Expenditure), Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance; and Shri Pon. Radhakrishna, Minister of State - Finance and Shipping, Government of India. The dignitaries held forth on the importance of procurement in general and its status in India in particular, and the need to develop the area in the light of technological developments as well as the need for economic growth of the country.

The ensuing deliberations over the two days were divided into five plenary sessions. The first session was on SMART procurement through the use of ICT; the second was on blind spots in procurement and contract management; the third on the morning of the second day dealt with sustainable procurement; the fourth covered the use of Public Private Partnership (PPP) methods in procurement; the fifth and last session highlighted the use of innovative methods on procurement. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable participants included Indian and foreign persona - academics, lawyers, corporates and those working in government agencies and departments.

There was spontaneous exchange ideas among the delegates and the eager audience. Q&A sessions provided fertile interaction among all, often being limited by time. The summit also provided a framework for active networking among all concerned.
