3rd September, 2017 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a ‘Mix of Maths’ class. The day also brought a pleasant and sweet surprise along with other eatables distributed among the slum children. PGDM passed out volunteer Mr. Rohit Thakur and the PGDM 2016-18 batch volunteer Ms. Swapna Dey had brought biscuits and toffees for the slum children.
Volunteers of the day Argha Majumdar, Arnab Supakar, Rajat Gupta, Konika Tyagi, Neelam Chaurasiya, Swapna Dey, Bikram Parajuli, George Rudolf Henry and Rakesh Dam started the activity with the prayer ‘Tumhi ho mata pita tumhi ho, tumhi ho bandhu sakha tumhi ho’.

The first session of the day was on ‘Mix of Maths’. The students were given specific tasks related to addition, subtraction and multiplication, and were called to Marker Board one by one to do it. Those who found it difficult were assisted by volunteers who guided them with day to day examples and different tricks.
The second session of the day was Poem Recitation during which the children enjoyed the poem ‘Dekho ek daakiya aaya, thaila ek hath mein laya, pehne hai vo khaki kapde, chitthi kayi hath mein pakde..’
At the end of the class, ITS volunteer presented a pleasant surprise. They had done arrangements to celebrate the birthday of Dr. G.K. Dwivedi whose birthday had just passed three days before. Although Dr. Dwivedi had the expressions of hesitation but the slum children got a good treat of cakes distributed among them after the short cake cutting ceremony.
The class concluded with the distribution of Crax and éclairs among all the children. The stuff brought by Rohit and Swapna was also distributed among the children which made their day filling their both the hands with goodies.
