8th October, 2017 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was another journey from spirituality to science during which the children were told about the famous couplet ‘Kshiti, Jal, Paavak, Gagan, Sameera; Paanch Tatva Mil Bana Shareera’ explaining the five significant elements that constitute our body and the whole universe too.
Volunteers of the day Sneha Sharma, Aru Bansal, Bittu Raj Singh, Awantika Chaudhary, Nidhi Gupta, Rohit Kumar, George Rudolf Henry and Rakesh Dam started the class with the prayer ‘Tumhi ho mata pita tumhi ho, tumhi ho bandhu sakha tumhi ho’ and informed the children about the session scheduled for the day.

The talk of the day was on the ‘Five Significant Elements’ during which the volunteers described the five elements in Hindi along with their English substitutes and told the children about the significance of Earth, Water, Fire, Sky and Air in the universe and in our life too. They started with a couplet from the ‘Ram Charit Manas’ – Kshiti Jal Paavak Gagan Sameera, Paanch Tatva Mil Bana Shareera and explained each element in detail.
The Earth was explained in two ways – Earth, the planet and earth, the material. The children were told that there are 7 continents, 4 oceans, around 195 countries and countless species flourishing on our Mother Earth. Therefore, we should take care of Eco-balance, global warming and Swachhata all around in a way to pay back the debts to her.
Similarly Significance of water, crisis due to its shortage, consequences of wastage were explained followed by the discussion about Air, its pollution, our faults, and the remedies to make air better. Significance of Sky and Fire was also discussed with easy day to day examples which the children immediately grasped and responded when asked in the form of a quiz.
The activity concluded with the distribution of Sunfeast and Parle Cream Biscuits and éclairs among all the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.
