‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

8th April, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a theme based class on Swachchh Bharat Abhiyaan. This class was on ‘Oral Hygiene’ and included revision of previous exercises too. Volunteers of the day Shiksha Rawat, Aru Bansal, Rumaisa Zaidi, Surbhi Jaiswal, Subhrangshu Das, Sreyasi Awon, Saud Siddiqui, Shashwat Sinha and George Rudolf Henry started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on ‘Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan’ during which the children were told about Oral Hygiene and its significance. Ms. Gourvi Madaan displayed a chart before the children and discussed ‘Happy Smile’ in detail with clear distinction between happy tooth and unhappy tooth. The correct method of brushing and its benefits were explained for the children with the help of pictures and descriptions. A slogan ‘Monday to Sunday, brush your teeth twice a day’ was used to motivated the children. The children were also told which food items are good for their teeth and which are harmful.

The second session of the day was a routine revision of the previous exercises. The children were happier and more comfortable this Sunday as they had got a big and new carpet to sit on. MBA volunteers Shiksha and Aru, and PGDM volunteer Subhrangshu pleased the children by bringing special éclairs for them. The class concluded with the distribution of biscuits and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

International Conference on “Globalization: Prospects And Opportunities For A New India”.

International Conference started with the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The hon’ble Chief Guest was Dr. T. Haque (Chairman: Land Policy Cell, NITI Aayog) while the Guests of honor was Prof. Bikram Keshari Pattanaik, Ms. Priya Deshmukh and the Keynote speakers were Dr Dalip Kumar & Dr. Vivek Kumar. Honourable Shri Arpit Chaddha (Vice Chairman- ITS The Education Group), Director PR- Shri Surinder Sood, Director Management and the Conference Chair Dr. Ajay Kumar inaugurated the Conference jointly by lighting the lamps before the idol of Goddess Saraswati.

The conference had three sessions – the first was inaugural session and the second & the third sessions were marked for research paper presentations.

INAUGURAL SESSION:

This session started with the address by eminent speakers on the conference theme high lightening Globalization and its impact on India. Speakers talked about “New Ideas in Rural Finance”, “Measurement of Employment & Unemployment”,” Digitalization” etc.

PRE-LUNCH RESEARCH PAPER PRESENTATIONS

The session started with a small presentation by one of the conference sponsors - Pearson - about their company and products.

A panel of four eminent academicians – Dr. Seema Singh, Dr. Ghulam Yashdani, Prof. B.K. Pattanaik and Dr. Vivek Kumar judged the research papers and the presenters who were in a competition to win the best paper award in different categories.
Glimpses of some of the notable papers which got jury’s appreciation are listed below:
Under General Management category different topics were taken up by the presenters under the theme- “Globalization: Prospects and opportunities for new India” such as Analytical Study of Traffic Building Techniques for e-Business, Flipped Classroom Approach: - a Student’ Perspective which included Digital Market, Built Better Relationship, SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Under Finance category, the research paper was presented by Ms. Manisha Gupta who talked about the factors affecting individual investment decisions in Indian Capital Market taking Delhi NCR region under study. She told about objectives of investor i.e. maximum return, minimum risk, hedge against inflation etc. and constraints such as liquidity, age, time horizon, need regulator income etc. The decision was affected by demographic factors, lifestyle, psychological, risk bearing ability and self image. The sampling design was of random sampling and the questionnaires considered were 42 out of 50 on which survey was done.

Another paper was presented by Ms Shrimoyee Ghosh on “Cross Border Merger and Acquisition: An Analysis”. She talked about Major International and National mergers and acquisitions taking examples of Tata Group, Airtel, and Hindalco etc. She also talked about major merger and acquisition failures and their solutions.

A research paper on “Evolution of growth and microfinance in India” was presented by Neha Roy where she talked about the provisions of financial services to the people who are just above poverty line and those who are below poverty line. She gave a brief of the salient features of microfinance for borrowers from low income group borrowing small amount for short duration, without collaterals and high frequency repayments (more EMI’s). Her survey highlighted the fact that 87% poors do not have access to credit that stands to $30 billion. She discussed the role and challenges of microfinance as well.

The forth paper which got jury’s appreciation was presented by Richa Mishra on the topic “Micro Finance and Regional Rural Bank – Current Scene and The Path Ahead”. In this paper her objective was to study different age groups of rural customers of RRB’s and to study the thinking of rural population towards RRBs. She explained the methods to remove poverty by introducing microfinance. She emphasized the importance of such schemes in rural India.
POST-LUNCH RESEARCH PAPER PRESENTATIONS

Research papers presented in the area of marketing touched various topics. The different topics taken up by the presenters under the theme- “Globalization: Prospects and Opportunities for a new India” included Digital Marketing, Viral Marketing, Flipped Classroom Approach, Factors affecting sustainability of Startups and eNAM – the initiative by the government of India.

Highlights of some of the selected papers are as below:

Research paper presented by Ms. Priyanka Gupta was on “Digital Marketing – A Global Weapon to Overcome Customer Resistance to the New Product”. Her objective was to explore the challenges faced by consumers as well as marketers in launching the new product in the market. There were several hypotheses and the research was based on qualitative analysis. She talked about the various reasons of not adopting the product such as – Lack of Innovations, Risk, Traditional Barrier, Lack of Information (features, advantages and benefits of the product) and Lack of Role Model. She then talked about the overcoming strategies and need of personalization.

Another paper was on “Viral Marketing” where the presenter introduced the various techniques used in viral marketing that enhance the marketing effectiveness on the internet. Presenter explained how it is useful for various startups, students promoters, NGO’s etc. he made the comparison between digital marketing and viral marketing and its advantages over digital marketing.

Dr. Sunita Shukla, under general management category, discussed about Flipped Classroom Approach – A Student’s Perspective. She explained it as a blended learning approach in which the students are provided with the data to be studied beforehand and the classrooms are only for learning the practical aspects of it. She used empirical methodology and considered undergraduates and postgraduates under study through questionnaires. Her data figured that 98% student are comfortable in Flipped Classroom approach. She used ANOVA Test to reach to the conclusion – FLIPPED TEACHING + ACTIVE LEARNING = AMAZING EDUCATIONAL POSSIBILITIES.

The fourth paper talked about the factors affecting sustainability of startups. The several reasons of failure of today’s startups include copying from western culture, higher cost per unit, less revenue per unit, lack of vision and local market impact on customers. The challenges during these startups are fund raising, recruiting talent etc. The presenter gave the sustainable model of startups and the government incentives for startups and concluded the research.

The fifth presenters were Shiva Shah and Shreya Nand who gave the analytical study of eNAM- an initiative taken by government to improve the conditions of farmers. They gave reasons of gap between farm and non farm income such as industrialization, inequality in formation of policy etc. They talked about the Mission 2022 of government and the area of improvement such as Agri productivity, Industrialization, Govt. intervention etc. They studied the Action Plan of government and took into account the primary data collected from the village Karehda near Ghaziabad. They concluded with the benefits and drawbacks of eNAM and current status of the policy implemented.

Research paper in HR presented by Shikha Gupta was on “360 Feedback Method” which talked about supremacy of 360 degree over traditional methods.

Conference came to an end with a valedictory session wherein each winner was given a certificate and a citation for best paper in its category.

Management Faculty attended CII National Conference.

Dr. Anusha Agarwal and Dr. Shuchita Singh from I.T.S Ghaziabad attended CII National Conference on Resolving Insolvency in India – Progress and Way Forward, at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi, on 4th April 2018.

The welcome address of the conference was given by Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman CII. Dr. M S Sahoo, Guest of Honour provided the details of progress achieved by NCLT, after being operational. He mentioned that Tribunals and Judiciary play a crucial role in implementation of IBBI practices. He also mentioned that IBBI is for rescuing the failing organizations.

Mr. Injeti Srinivas, Chief Guest of the Conference, assured that IBBI machinery is in place and it seeks for optimum utilization of resources by corporate.

Mr. Sanjay Gupta, President Institute of Cost Accountants of India, emphasized on more serious valuation and CAPEX Assessment. He also raised the need for more ethical environment for valuation.

First Interactive session was moderated by Mr. Bahram N Vakil and the panel comprised of KR Saji Kumar, ED, IBBI, Pallav Mahapatra, Deputy Managing Director, SARG, SBI and other panelists spoke on issues like, role of states, Classification of Creditors and responsibilities of Resolution professionals.

Second Session was Moderated by Mr. Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The panelists provide the details of selection procedure of Insolvency Professionals, teaching, training and execution of updated curriculum to develop competent Insolvency Professionals.

Third Session was moderated by Shailendra Singh and the panelists discussed the global practices followed at world wide level. The event ended with the valedictory session. It was a great learning experience for the participants.

1st April, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad included a brief on April Fool’s Day, a session on Indian and Roman Numbers and a Mathematical rhyme.

Volunteers of the day Rohit Fulara, Saddam Hussain, Saif Mondal, Sandeep Shukla, Richa Tyagi, Abhay Gupta and Ankush Mehta started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on ‘The April Fool’s Day’ during which the children were told about the day. They were informed that on this day we befool our friends and family members for fun and make our life a little lighter. At the same time the children were told not to joke with anyone to such an extent that he/she feels bad or suffers a damage or big loss.

The second session of the day was on ‘Indian and Roman Numbers’ during which the children practiced these numbers and repeated them many times. A Mathematical rhyme (One two buckle your shoe, three four open the door) also interested them a lot. At the end of the class, some children amazed us with the surprise gifts. As every year, they had brought beautiful idols of Lord Ganesh along with other gifts like flower vase.

The class concluded with the distribution of biscuits, tattoos and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Utthan Lab Activity & CSR Award Ceremony

31st March, 2018 activity of Utthan Lab, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was the most important day of the year. This session of Utthan Lab also included ITS CSR Awards 2018 given to those senior batch volunteers of PGDM, MBA and MCA who had toiled really hard for two years in making the life of underprivileged children better.

Volunteers of the day – Rumaisa Zaidi, Shiksha Rawat, Aru Bansal, Pramendra Singh Tomar, Anchal Omar, Sonia Dhawan, Mayank Verma, Samina Khatoon, Punit Modi, Nikhil Kumar Mahaseth, Prerak Jain and Hitesh Sharma started the day with the brief on the day’s activities, competition and award ceremony.

The talk of the day was on ‘Navdurga – The Shakti’ during which the Utthan Children were briefed about the power and prospects of the women. They were informed why women had no or less privileges in the past, how their plight has improved and how they can attain the best opportunities and high respect in future. They were told that good education is the key to many problems and hurdles of life.

The second session of the day was the grand ceremony of ITS CSR Awards 2018 during which hon’ble Director Management Dr. Ajay Kumar and Director-IT Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey felicitated the senior batch volunteers of PGDM, MBA and MCA. Ms. Shweta Sharma (PGDM) got the Best CSR Volunteer Award for Utthan Lab while Mr. George Rudolf Henry bagged the trophy for being the Best CSR Volunteer of Parivartan Club. Mr. Rakesh Dam, Ms Awantica Chaudhary, Mr. Bikram Parajuli, Ms. Rishu Kejriwal, Ms. Nainsi Yadav (MCA), and Ms. Novika Chadha also received trophies and certificates for their participation in CSR activities. Total 108 volunteers were given certificates for their notable contribution to CSR initiatives of ITS, Ghaziabad.

The last session of the day was a rocking Dance Competition during which the children enthralled the audience with their amazing performances . More than 35 little champs were chosen as the winners of fabulous prizes like Badminton rackets, oven-safe fiber sets of plate and bowl, 1.25 litre bottles of Maaza, tumblers etc.

The activity concluded with the snacks and the cold drinks served to all. All the children were gifted with gel pens and cream biscuits. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi guided the volunteers and enjoyed the activity as the faculty coordinator of Utthan Club.

Prof. Ritu Saxena, faculty at I.T.S Ghaziabad attended & presented the research paper titled “Impact of Organizational Climate on Teacher Effectiveness: A Review” in 2nd Doctoral Conference SHODH-2018 at SVVV, Indore on 31st March, 2018. Five concurrent sessions happened during the entire day Conference. Management session was chaired by Dr. Santosh Rangnekar, Professor, IIT Roorkee, Dr. Santosh Dhar, Dean- Faculty of Doctoral Studies & Research and Dr. D. K. Mandal, Professor, SVVV, Indore.

The paper got published in book titled “DIVERSE, DIVERGENT AND INNOVATIVE RESEARCH - Contemporary Issues” published by Excel Publications, New Delhi with ISBN Number 978-93-86724-67-0. The conference was a good learning experience and was focused on Interdisciplinary Research for Sustainable Development.

Binary Club of I.T.S Ghaziabad, organized “Typing Speedster” for MBA Students. The activity was inaugurated and conducted by coordinator binary club Prof. Lokesh Upreti. The purpose of the activity was to evaluate and enhance the typing skills of students with respect to the parameters of accuracy and speed.

There were 2 rounds in the activity in which 60 students participated, out of which 19 students were further promoted to second and the final round.It was a tough competition amongst all.

Winners of the event were Mr. Shambhu Kushwaha (MBA 2016 -18 Batch), Ms. Meenakshi (MBA 2017 – 19 Batch) and Mr. Sumit Singh (MBA 2017 – 19 Batch). Event concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony by Honorable Director Management Dr. Ajay Kumar and Prof. C.K. Sabharwal. The winners were felicitated with certificates and amazing prizes like Pen-drives & Portfolio Folders.Dr. Ajay Kumar motivated the students by emphasizing upon the importance of balance between speed and accuracy in our lives to lead and attain success. Prof. C.K. Sabharwal talked about the latest block chain technology and encouraged students to get familiarize with the needs of the emerging industry.

The event was a great success, with students enjoyed a lot along with learning.

Workshop of IoT

A full day workshop on “Internet of Things ” for the MCA students was organized by Institute of Technology & Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad in association with CSI Student Branch @ I.T.S during 29/03/2018 has conducted successfully. Prof. Abhay Kumar Ray and Prof. Smita Kansal from Department of IT were the key resource person for this workshop.
Objective of the workshop :
• This workshop must help the students to understand and take better use of the Arduino Uno, components of Arduino Uno, Application of different sensors , Integration of sensors to the Ardunio chip, Program writing ,development and implementation of application using Arduino Chip and different sensors. 
• After this workshop students can develop Arduino chip and sensor based applications.
Pre-requisite: Knowledge of C, C++ .

Pedagogy: 
• Session based on Introduction and application of Arduino chip and sensors is conducted in Lecture cum Discussion mode.
• Rest of the session conducted in Computer Lab by live demonstration of each of the topic.
Content of the workshop:
• Fundamentals of Internet of Things , Introduction of different IoT supporting hardware including Microcontrollers chips and Micro Processor chip , Different kinds of sensors like light sensors , Ultrasonic Sensors etc.
• Introduction to Arduino UNO chip and Raspberry pi, Programming in c/c++ 
• Programming in C++ for LED , Ultrasonic Sensor, Push Buttons, Light sensors , Temperature and humidity sensors etc
• Demonstration and Hands on based on Ardunio IDE and application of Adrunio chip and sensors based sketch
Total 36 students from MCA students were participated in this workshop. Students showed their interest to learn this technology and I am sure that participants of this workshop can develop apps by using Arduino IDE and supporting sensors.

25th March, 2018 activity of ‘Parivartan’- the Slum Education Programme, a CSR initiative of ITS, Ghaziabad was a twofold session on the ‘The Making of a Newspaper’ and ‘The Sense Organs’.

Volunteers of the day Nagma, Robin Chauhan, Sonia Dhawan, Raziullah Ansari, Rohit Bage, Vidhi Yadav, Ranjiw Kumar, Anjul Varshney, Novika Chadha and George Rudolf Henry started the class with the prayer and informed the children about the highlights of the day.

The first session of the day was on ‘The Making of a Newspaper’ during which the children were told how a newspaper is published. They were informed how the news-items are collected by the correspondents from the spot of the incident, police station and hospitals, how these news-items are edited by the editor and allotted page numbers, how the soft copy of the newspaper is sent to the automated printing machine and finally how the newspaper reaches to its readers in the morning.

The second session of the day was on ‘Our Sensory Organs’ during which the children were taught about five sense organs and their main functions. After these sessions a short quiz was conducted and those who gave correct responses were felicitated with the packets of Monaco Biscuits.

This is worth a mention that Ms. Dolly Sharma, a known leader and ex-candidate for Mayor- Ghaziabad spotted the class of Parivartan while passing by and stopped her car there. She expressed her pleasure and appreciated the efforts of ITS volunteers wholeheartedly.

The class concluded with the distribution of Biscuits and éclairs. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of CSR Club.

Department of IT Conducted One Day Workshop on “Data Science using Python”

Department of IT, I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad conducted one day workshop on “Data Science using Python” on Saturday, 24 March, 2018 for MCA and BCA students of the Institute. The coordinators and resource persons of the workshop were Prof. Chandra Mani Sharma & Prof. Varun Arora.
The workshop was formally inaugurated in the benign presence of Director IT, Dr Sunil Kr Pandey; Chairperson MCA, Prof Puja Dhar; Coordinator MCA, Prof Smita Kansal and other faculty members of Department of IT. 
In his opening address, Director-IT, Dr Sunil Kr Pandey motivated and sensitized the participants for the importance of Data Science in today’s time. He started with historical evolution of very concept of Data and various operations on it in early days of DBMS and later-on in the era of Data Warehousing. He kept on touching the avenues of Big Data Analytics and Data Science. 

Subsequently, Prof Chandra Mani Sharma conducted three sessions on Data Science with hands-on practice on Data Science. In session-1, Prof Sharma gave and aerial overview of basic programming concepts in Python including Data Structures, conditional statements, loops, creation of modules and Anaconda environment. 
In session-2, various packages for Data Science including numpy, scipy, matplotlib, pandas, sklearn etc., were discussed with code examples. Session-3 had the demonstration and applications of Python for data visualization and analytics. This session also had open Q/A, wherein participants had their queries answered on various aspects of Data Science such as career prospects, where to move next etc. 
At the end of the workshop, each participant received the Certification of Participation from the dignitaries. Each participant appreciated the worthiness of the workshop and took away some food for thought.

While welcoming, Mr. Suneel Keswani who was invited as Resource Person, Director-IT discussed on the theme ofsession “Campus to Corporate” and how this session would be beneficial for MCA Students in their bright future. Mr Keswani urged on the students that they need to follow some simple steps in their life.

• Stretch yourself mentally, physically, emotionally; don’t limit yourself.

For better understanding of above mentioned steps, he has asked to perform some activities along with real life examples. He has engaged all the MCA Students and kept them interested throughout the session. According to him, Students should understand concept behind core knowledge and general knowledge. He has also mentioned that upgradation and updation of an individual are two important factors for success. His word really motivated the students present there and this showed up in their body language. He closed his lecture saying “Failing is not the worst thing in life but quitting is”.
This was an interactive & knowledge enriching session.The session was organized in series of efforts to create a platform for MCA Students to meet, listen & interact with the practitioners and experts who have contributed immensely in their domain. Mr. Keswani also interacted with Students and answered the queries raised during the session.
DrUmang, Coordinator of this session, concluded the session closing remarks and delivered vote of thanks.It was informative and learning session all participating MCA Students.

MCA Students participated in Literary & Cultural Fest Udghosh 2018

Two days Literary & Cultural Fest "Udghosh 2018" was organized by I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida during 23rd - 24th March2018. The event provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their excellence, creativity, and talent.The programme included literary, cultural and sports events. There were 11 other technical institutions from Greater Noida and Delhi NCR as the college organised at the inter-college fest.

The grand fest kickstarted with a brief introduction about the objective behind organising the annual fest. The Chief Guest Deepak Gupta, Nationally, and Internationally renowned Multiple National Level Award-Winning Poet inaugurated the event by lighting the cauldron and releasing balloons in the air, symbolizing unwanted emotions.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by different competitions on literary, art and cultural events, such as rangoli making, wall-painting, master chef, poster-making; T-shirt designing; collage-making; Bollywood quiz; footloose and antakshri and fashion show.

Our Five students of MCA IV semester Shraddha Gupta, Anukriti, Vineet Kr Mosses, Manish and Prashant Kr Jha have participated in this fest. On Day-1, Our MCA students Shraddha Gupta, Prashant Kr Jha have participated and secured second position in Collage Making and Manish Kumar has secured third position in Chai Pe Charcha.

It was wonderful and nice learning experience for participating Students.

I.T.S Ghaziabad organized Industry Visit for MBA (2017-19) batch students to Coca Cola (Moon Beverages Ltd.), Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, 20th March, 2018. The students were accompanied by Prof. Ritu Saxena and Prof. Shikha Arora. The students and faculty members were warmly received by company representatives. After a brief video highlighting the facts and processing about the company and products, the excited visitors were taken to various sections of the plant where they were explained the functioning and the processes which the students were able to see directly as well.

The students asked countless questions about the drinks and the processes along with the controversial issues related to the products which were responded with facts and pleasure. The representatives showed and gave information about the various shapes of the bottles of Coca Cola since its introduction and their respective reasons. The visit ended with a cool Coca Cola drinks for everyone. The students were very pleased with the experience which was full of knowledge. The visit resulted in students’ satisfaction and learning experience gained during the day.
