Volunteers of the day – Gourab Nag, Sagnick Das and Satender Rana (Dev) started the class with the regular checkup of the hygiene and personal grooming of the slum children. The class started with the chorus ‘Hum honge kaamyaab ek din’.
The first session of the day was based on the various segments of the calendar. Most of the slum children did not know the number of days in a year. They also did not know the names of the months and weekdays in sequence. Mr. Gourab Nag took the charge of being the coach for the day and taught the slum children with interesting examples and active participation. The children repeated and revised the names of the months and weekdays many times in Hindi and English both. At the end of the session, a short quiz was conducted on the same theme. Those who responded correctly were appreciated with attractive shoe-shaped sharpeners.
This was followed by a quick revision of the previous exercises. The activity ended with the distribution of Tiger cream biscuits and chocolates among all the children. Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi accompanied and guided the volunteers as the faculty coordinator of Parivartan Club.
